pls go back and take homelessness at your homeland,… and do not came back. Your attitude must be stay on at Thailand. So many prostitution on the parks way. I really don’t like America who were bombs since 1970s.
Well said. In the Philippines landlords will rent to you for only like $100/month and they will let you fix up the apartment however you want with your own money, since most tenants plan to call that apartment home until they die. One tenant bought the paint and the landlord actually said he would do all the work for free if the tenant paid for all those things. I only need a bed, A/C, wifi and refrigerator in my room to be happy!
Sometimes it is exact the opposite. When Philippinioes need to repair their house they would try to rent out their house hoping the tenant pays for repairs. And then they will ask you to leave for some made up reason.
In the relationship part, different from Western culture, when you get marry the wife usually takes care of the household including the accounting for the family. It's not that they want your money, usually, the man provides and the woman is in charge of the house to include the budget but women usually work too. You're also obligated to take care of the parents, not so much the siblings, you're only obligated to help each other out. Khmer people are faithful, if you're good to them, they're good to you. We take care of each other and it's easy to make good friends for life. We share the little things that we do and don't have. Just enjoy and be humans.
I was told by an expat - that I could live about how ever I would want to live - on my $1500 SS (USD) - in Siem Reap ! --?-- Rent and food are very likely the 2 biggest expenses in a budget for retirement.
Having visited Cambodia on and off during the last 9 years, mainly in Siem Reap and Sisophon it is possible to live in villages for a lot less funds then a city such as Phnom Phen or Siem Reap. I personally am now fully retired and living in Siem Reap most of the year, some weeks with the wife in Sisophon, and it is less than most people realize. I planned ahead, bought a condo in Siem Reap built a home in Sisophon and am now running a consulting firm in Siem Reap for vocational education with a few other Barangs and we all love Cambodia and the cost of living here. Visit the country, get a feel for the area you might want to settle in. I love Siem Reap yet the wife loves her home in Sisophon so we do both. I consult with polytechnic universities in the country and visit many other schools so I see how the people in Cambodia live in the outer villages and it is something you have to experience with how families live, and yes you will find out if you marry a Khmer girl you marry the family.
When it comes to dating and marriage and such, there is one big difference between the way people in that part of the world look at things, and the way Americans look at things. In America, people fall in love and get married. In SE Asia, people *like each other,* have complimentary needs, and consider each other a good match and they will get married and *as time goes by* they expect to grow to love one another. That kinda makes more sense to me. First you deal with the practical things and focus and later the emotional part will blossom over time. They still want to LIKE a person, but the whole "swept off my feet" and "falling head over heels" nonsense is mostly absent.
After bills, I have about 2300 USD a month in retirement income. It sounds like I might be able to eat three meals a day and have a roof over my head in Cambodia.
2300 usd a month i lot in many undeveloped countries even under developing countries. I traveled lot and learned it. "old dog new tricks" youtube channel in the philippines said he would never support his girlfriends family even though they had been living together for 4 years now. They just got married and he said he paid a lot of money this last month to help her family out, so it catches up with everyone, especially after marriage.

I traveled around cambodia in 2017. I remember that there was a law prohibiting marriages between a foreigner older than 50 and a local woman. Is that law still in effect?
That law has changed however there is still a financial amount a foreigner must provide documentation for before marrying a local. I forgot the amount but I believe it's at least $2500 a month.
income where ? my current income is in USA, and varies because I am self-employed. this requirement seems to be written with employees and retirees in mind. it's also very strange because one individual could earn $2,200/month, with expenses of $1,000, while another may earn $2,500/month with expenses of $2,000. Which of the 2, despite lower income, has the greater disposable income ?
What a wonderful video thanks, I hate making cost of living videos for the reasons you stated, but from what I have seen in Siem Reap you can quite easily rent a place for under a hundred bucks or less. As far as women you seem to understand how it works in Asia, everything I experienced in the Philippines is as you say. I hope you keep making videos like this despite some of the comments you get.

Women in SEA has for 90% of them had a poor upbringing and depended on their families. So her love to you will depend on if you can get her as far as way from poverty as possible and secure her future. She will always try to help her family, as they were there for her or she was there for them, so understand this. They actually love you if you treat them right and you are financially being the rock she needs. Except if you pick them out from a Bar where she has worked for 5 years, then you should be careful.
It seems dating in Cambodia is less messy than in Thailand. I guess it is because Cambodia is a few years behind maybe decades behind Thailand. I am very upfront and I do not wish to get married and have kids; that’s just my personal choice. I don’t mind having a girlfriend but I will “NEVER” give unchecked access to any woman to my bank account. My girlfriend will directly benefit from my money and my work but I will not be buying land, houses or other big expensive assets and putting them under the name of a woman. Also I will not assume financial responsibility for her whole family and village; that is just a “no way” with me. For me South East Asia is the very best place on earth but I have seen a few things in my life and South East Asia can be “Paradise on Earth” or “The Graveyard of Fools” it is up to you to decide.
You should talk about your books for sale in the middle of your videos or at the end. No one wants to be sold to at the beginning of a video. I would imagine that it turns people off and they decide not to watch the video. I think your subscriptions would go up if you followed this practice.
"Ivan Musto" youtube channel in Cambodia also said that his Cambodian girlfriend left him during the pandemic, when his salary was cut, since he could no longer support the lifestyle that she wanted.

@rubinhopinto7399 I’ve only been to Cambodia. The visa is east depends where you are from. I’m going to assume your American. These parking lots are supervised by a security guy. If you park you will get a piece of paper with a number on it. A copy of that paper with the same number will be attached to your bike. If you want your bike back, the supervisor can easily find it with that number.
Im in the process of obtaining my marriage certificate for my beautiful Khmer wife, if you are going to do the same make sure you have all your documents up to date, no older than 6 months and they should also be all original and not printed copies from emails. Also do it before you turn 50, im not 50 until July but they have said i already am because of the year 1973/2023
My friend, in his late 50s at the time, applied for a partner visa for his Cambodian fiance (in her 20s). This was initially declined by Australian Immigration. I referred him to an immigration lawyer. It turned out the lawyer had contacts in the Australian Embassy in PP and happened to be travelling there for other business, so she was able to follow it up. The visa was eventually approved, but that's what it took. All this was about eight years ago. I still get invited to have Christmas dinner with them. Cheers.

Thanks. Just a question when someone is required to take daily meds, like blood pressure are they fairy straight forward to obtain through a Dr there or am i better obtaining in Thailand and bringing them in? I'm thinking of going there thats why i ask.
You can generally get daily medication locally through a doctor or direct from a pharmacy (there's not much oversight in obtaining medicine here over the counter). But it would probably be wise to bring enough with you until you get that sorted here.
My expectation is to go from working class North American to retired class North American living in an Asian country and acclimating myself to that standard of living but not having to work anymore and travelling Asia from Cambodia. I can’t afford to live in North America on my pension

I’ve heard people say it’s a junkies paradise because they could get pharmaceutical drugs easily to get high. Is this true because I’ve heard it form multiple people.
all of asia is like that. there is a huge street scene in thailand for h and meth cambodia is a lot cleaner. the pharmacies do have lax rules compared to rest asia but its not junkville no way. just means u dont always need a script. they dont hand out morphine or oxycodone for example. drugs are very dimly looked on by the khmer. in the tourists spots on the lake you get a lot of backpackers smoking pot.
I'm on hydrocodone for significant chronic pain. I have read I would not be able to travel to Cambodia with my prescription. I'm concerned about that. Would I be able to obtain the medication once I arrived in Siem Reap if I had a prescription & documentation from my doctor at my pain clinic here in the States???
Hi Dave, re dating Cambodians. Do you have any info about the reverse, Cambodian men dating foreign women? Perhaps some female foreign friends who could share their experience with you?

Hi Sir, I am just wondering if you can speak about stress and happiness, do you feel more happy and less stress at home or over there and also are people more kind and curious in one place or another?
Much less stress here than back in the US. People here are mostly kind and friendly.
@@DaveDoesCambodia sounds like a land of milk and honey to me. If only I can find my way out of Egypt with a well paid remote job. 😃 thank you for sharing Sir. ☀️🌙✨
in China, the woman and her husband are only obligated to take care of HIS parents. The son (and his wife) would be obligated to take care of her (the sister's) parents. I wasn't aware that it was different in Cambodia so that's interesting.
Hey Dave I like the way you expose the reality of Cambodia as oppose those youtubers that only are interested in views and likes with no further commitment to the viewers etc.
Good luck with your channel!
Thank you very much for watching!
soon as i come back ur one of the 1st homies im buying a brew for
What a great vid your take is always so well balanced and honest
12:52 How.....How do you get your bike out of that mess? lol
These parking lots are supervised by a security guy. If you park you will get a piece of paper with a number on it. A copy of that paper with the same number will be attached to your bike. If you want your bike back, the supervisor can easily find it with that number.
Thanks for the wonderful info.
Thanks as always Dave!
Spot on with all of it ❤
Im in the process of obtaining my marriage certificate for my beautiful Khmer wife, if you are going to do the same make sure you have all your documents up to date, no older than 6 months and they should also be all original and not printed copies from emails.
Cheers.
What would be best to find a Cambodian woman online for in person walking around Cambodia??? What site would you recommend???
Your right about the the standard of living in Cambodia, it's up to the individual and their needs.
If you haven't come to understand women don't provide unconditional love wherever you are, then you have or will experience an awakening sooner or later.
Lets face it, Western women go for men with money too, and usually end up with everything should the relationship end.
yes
Are ATMs reliable to withdraw money in Cambodia ? And can you withdraw USD or only Riels? thank you for sharing !
I've never had any problems with their ATMs and you can get either USD or Riels. I've been using them for the last ten years now!
You can get either USD or Riel. The ABA ATM's are very reliable and are everywhere. There is a fee if you don't have an ABA account.
And what is the Fee of every ATM Bank ?????
@@rolandjacobs6227 It's around $5 per transaction. Also, if you have a Charles Schwab account online, they will credit back all your atm fees each month.
@DaveDoesCambodia the dollar is dying. Others such as Russian ruble are on the way up. How the access to other currencies besides the US dollar?
@@DaveDoesCambodia Thankyou
My expectation is to go from working class North American to retired class North American living in an Asian country and acclimating myself to that standard of living but not having to work anymore and travelling Asia from Cambodia. I can’t afford to live in North America on my pension
That $30/mo. room rent is terrific. $50 is likely more common I suspect but for sure if you look they can be found & if you like it why not rent it until you die & make it yours the way you like it > & be comfortable ? You can't take it with you so enjoy it while your here & let them have it when your gone ! --?-- A benefit that really helps stretch a budget !!! Cheap & easy to clean & cool. Allows for eating better w/o going over budget or some travel or....... Just a better life for less.

Is it cheaper to be homeless in US or Cambodia?
@ThereIsSoulinArt --
You should have no problems.
Take your medication containers, pill bottles, and show them to the pharmacist.
What area , city do recommend living in.
Fascinating videos! Just curious if it's possible to meet older European or American women there, seems to be mainly guys 🤔
Hi Dave, re dating Cambodians.
Do you have any info about the reverse, Cambodian men dating foreign women? Perhaps some female foreign friends who could share their experience with you?
Hi, I`m thinking of moving to Cambodia with my 14 year old Thai son. Do you know anything about visa`s for Thai kids.
I'm not completely sure about visas for Thai people but I understand it's pretty easy since they share a border and people from both countries go back and forth all the time.
The Second Live Travels vlogger couple have been living in Phnom Penh for a while now as his Thai's wife has a baby boy also.
I would love to be able to find a place like the one he plays on your screen
Thanks for the video. No visa form of donations why?
I'm 63 yr old female thinking about retirement and maybe going to Cambodia or Thailand.

What would be the best place to find a girlfriend there. Is there a good free dating app?
I don't know. I've never used a dating app here but I don't think there's a specific one for Cambodia.
I don't know what you're writing but that camera is shaking really bad and it's throwing me off LOL
Where is best to go to meet sweet women there? Provinces? Age gap relationships common? How many under 30 speak English
Another question is if I see a cute outdoor, what do I say to get her to know that I am interested in her?
I totally believe you. I'm thinking Moving there or in the philippines i'm not sure yet
How does anyone find a $30 room lol??? (Ray Fournier) etc. Even facebook cambodian housing groups are listing western priced places...$400 ++++
It's a room, just a room in a run down house probably on the outskirts or in a less than desirable area. They'd charge more if they could.
IF IT GOT TIT,S OR TYRES IT'S GONNA BE TROUBLE..
Prices go up because Governments print money on a level that is out of control. Opt out of fiat. Opt in to Bitcoin. They can't control it. The market decides it's value.
Now that price has stabilized a bit, BTC can be considered as a hedge. I wouldn't go whole hog into it.
Bitcoin is a Ponzi scheme. Plus it has no underlying value. You can't use it to buy anything.
Said the most common narrative produced ever. Everything you just said has been debunked since 2012. A Decentralized asset running autonomously can NOT be a Ponzi scheme. I can buy ANYTHING with Bitcoin on my Cash App Visa backed by Bitcoin. Bitcoin isn't even used for currency purposes as it is finite at 21 million so people treat it like Gold. Bitcoin has never lost any value in ANY 4 year period and is 15 years old. Bitcoin is programmable money and is now used in decentralized rideshare app and DeFi protocols. I use it for business every day.@@brucemacmillan9581

I'm in a condo that new an owned by Cambodia . I pay 350$ and pay for electric and water. It's private and great so far. I'm in phom Penh on the island. Well you can't marry I thought if your over 50. The Cambodia law says it's human trafficking. But you probably go to another country. Thanks for info.
