Here, we don’t call Vietnam Banh Mi as we have our own name. We call Nom Pang Sach that’s the name.

Yes, the heat is the biggest concern for me. Like you I've lived in hot climates and I tend to spend most of my time in AC. On the coast of Salinas, Ecuador I loved the beach but it was hot enough that it wore me out. I ended up inside a lot and didn't get much from the beach city. Not sure if I will rule out Cambodia based on the heat, but I'm on the fence right now.

The French colonized Cambodia as well. We call them Nom Pang. They are not Vietnamese.

That food is French influence. The real khmer name for it is. Norm Phan Bat Thay. Norm Phan Sach is what Cambodian in West Coast of USA. Like California, origin, and Washington. They liked to call that way. But the real actual name is Norm Phan Bat Thay

Make sure you go to Bassac Street at night for a good Vibe. It’s a mixture of locals and foreigners.

Are there a lot of Russians in that area? Is it the reason why they called it Russian Market?

ChatGPT: "Phnom Penh’s Russian Market, locally known as Phsar Toul Tom Poung, got its nickname due to a wave of Russian visitors, expatriates, and diplomats who frequented it in the 1980s. During this time, Cambodia was relatively isolated from Western countries due to political circumstances and lingering effects of the Khmer Rouge era, which led to an influx of Soviet and Eastern Bloc citizens working in Cambodia. Russian buyers in particular frequently shopped in this market, making it a popular place for them to find goods and souvenirs. The name “Russian Market” stuck, even as the international community in Phnom Penh diversified in later years. Today, Russian Market is a bustling hub known for its unique mix of local crafts, antiques, souvenirs, and food, and it remains a significant attraction for locals and tourists alike."
