I'm a new player to Metal Solid Gear having only played Ground Zero before. I can't thank you enough for all your helpful videos. I actually got to grips with the Motherbase part after watching your video. You've also helped me a lot in the missions, some I wouldn't have been able to do without watching you. Keep up the good work.
Playing this game again after 9+ years in 2025 is amazing, specially with the gaming experience i have now makes it much more fun. Definitely a game to keep
For NEW players, CALL in AIR SUPPORT from your helicopter to clear large areas of enemies. This feature is accessible super early in the game and is very useful for conquering large bases when you have basic weapons. The enemies are so engaged in the helicopter, you can run around and complete your objective as if you were invisible. ALSO. You will notice some landing zone to be RED and say DANGER, these are usually the closest to your objectives , I still choose the red zone, and before the helicopter arrives to drop me off, I Hang out the side, press Triangle to use the choppers gun and shoot and clear out the area. very easy to do, and wastes none of your ammo.
that is suicide you will get shot down never land in a hot LZ when a mission is going on you do a side op and clear it always land down wind then you go in there and clear it out if you go in guns a blazing the enemy will shoot you down. Also strikes are expensive never call in strikes unless you got the money.
Next well be doing Snakes taxes!, I nearly walked from this game multiple times because it is bizarrely complex without a proper tutorial, but there is def. enough awesome content, that when your done banging your head against the wall it's totally worth it and it kept pulling me back

Did you know if you press bottom left on the ps pad gives you full descriptions on everything on the motherbase menu I'm not Shure where it is on other controllers but I'm Shure you can find it somehow

I hate games were Ur in the menu to much just let as play the games .instead they add all this . Let as play the game and let the base build it's self.
@11:15 flies will start to circle around you in missions if you don't come back to Mother Base and use the shower. I've had it happen once and while I don't think it reduces your stealth it is distracting to hear flies buzzing around you for the entire mission.
In the beginning, extract EVERYONE. As your unit levels go up, you’ll find more skilled soldiers, then you can either send the low tier trash on suicide missions or fire them.
When you upgrade the base don't blow your GMP on weapons upgrade your modules. First to upgrade is the Command Platform this allows you to call in strikes and it houses the brig for your prisoners every person that comes onto Mother Base must come through the command platform. Second is Base Development this platform should be top priority Snake will bring containers back and the resources need to be processed into modules to build your base. Third is R&D this platform needs to be level 2 before you go on any mission after level 7 or you won't have the weapons to take out Metal Gears, Choppers, or Tanks. Fourth is Support this is where Miller, Amber, Ocelot, Ivory, Code Talker, and your interpreters live this building should be the third to upgrade. Fifth is the Intelligence Lab you need this before you go to Africa. Sixth is Sickbay this is where your staff goes if they get sick or injured. Later you will get the Quarantine Zone this is where you send sick members of your staff or people from Africa, the Zoo is where you send your animals, and the Combat Barracks where Ocelot trains the Combat Team to police your base and conducts missions.
Im finna start a fresh game, my goofy ahh already blew most of my GMP on weapons, outfits, helicopter stuff and tons of other crap I either dont need or will never use just cuz the option was there😂. This note was super helpful, so I'll screenshot it.
Man ngl GMP is the last issue. I mean a 100.000 fuel resources? For 1 fob upgrade (3/4) then u need another billion to complete all your fob decks and shii 😅 u need them for weapons? Same shii a million and 1 to complete weapons? GMP farming use skulls event thats on right now. Boobytrap the ground, place active decoys .. wait till they group up 2 or 3 then start blasting away with CGM launcher , +1mil GMP and it takes longer to load in the game then to kill the skulls. Use the heliplatform entrance where u set your mines or c4's and decoys and just wait in the back of the helipad. They will spawn infront of the entrance long enough for you to empty CMG launcher. Wait for them to finish their slash attack, there teleporting thing something glitches when u stand up while they doing their jumping slash attack.
Awesome Video Tony, You can use the cardboard box to move to different locations on motherbase located near the helio pad Instead of driving. Also i found auto assigning my staff works better than placing them where ever.
@rahul-qm9fi there are small, orange receiving "docks" all around the different areas of the game. Stand on one, activate your box and hold still. You can be "delivered" around!
I made the mistake of selling a lot of materials to raise cash to build weapons, only to now find my base development has stalled due to a lack of... resources
Correct also look at their ranks if your brig is full it will do it automatically but if anyone says EDDDDDDDE Miller is going to get rid of them also sometimes Troublemakers love to hide get rid of them if you see them. Always get rid of Es and Ds they are bad the ones you want are Cs Bs As and Class S everyone else is garbage.
For me the worst and most boring part of MGS V they should have added more story doing all this shit is a drag. It’s a shame because I enjoy the gameplay and your video is very helpful mate keep it up.
Thanks for Video! Snake, nothing new to me! This Game more inclusive and detailed than previous Solid Snake games, and your Video really helped me. I saw somewhere that you can delete certain Staff members, but I don't want to just yet because of the ?? abilities. In the old Games it ? meant unknown or not revealed. However I have played the first 11 Missions so far and repeated them, so 33% and much more Staff are A and above. An attempt to get better because the Game is so Huge! Tunnel vision because this is all so new. Just saying there are Replacements for the Soldiers that you Fulton because I'm finding more ?? Soldiers. How do I know because I conquer every Base over and over trying to over come Tunnel Vision, HUGE GAME! Good Luck

I'm a year late just started, but somehow I've got enough Auto Assigned members to do some missions. Just select the missions that can make life easy for you, Ha-ha!
Thanks for making this video and I knows it bit old but. I just the game several days ago, when it was FREE with gold on XB, but something that is either not working as it should or because I'm still in very early in the game, but when I try to reassign the guys that have a blinking dot next to there name it just does not seem to take. Or is that they are all marked as a D or E, I do get the voice prompt that member was assigned but no icon showing the reassignment just a dash. Any ideas or suggestions would e helpful.
I think it really sucks that even if you max out everything in your security system some fucking sweaty Redditor can sneak past an steal your nuclear detergent and kill all of your staff
Best advice that NO ONE gives in these videos is READ the god damn text when scrolling over things that you can make/develop and you will know if you want it or not , simple as that. Go through all the tabs and just read.

Tony Mo yea could well be but still seems pointless to add it in to the main game and not the mp part. If anyone is aging on the ps4 and all of a sudden the game says installing game 25000 seconds left just restart the console as it's a bug
I finished the game, SPOILER Big boss take a break and the soldier in the chopper at the explosions "become" the phantom of big boss and basicilly,yes its your MGO character but also an elusions and the new apperance of big boss (you can as your character if you finished the game)
i got a question.. if i extracted a new *soldier to mother base.and highly skilled soldier.. but the whole unit on the staff management are full. is the *soldier will be automatically on the team or he will be on the waiting list?
Hey Tony, I have only completed about 4 missions and I am not familiar at all with MGS games at all. My question is, does the game get harder? I have done a few side missions and have been free-roaming but it seems pretty easy to just put every one to sleep then get what you need and get out.
Indeed, with time the enemy will adapt to your attacks and modify their equipment. And defenses to counter you. Helmets to stop your tranq rounds. Armor to stop small arms fire, heavier anti air to stop air support and so on. They learn and adapt after every encounter with you and it will increase the challenge.
can i ask something? Theres a flag next to some of my staff members names and the box to their left is crossed. I cant move them to another facility or dismiss them. Can someone explain me why it happens?

At mother days is there places you can go in to like doors you can go in what I'm getting at can you actually get inside the facilities and does it benefit you to, if you can I know there's stuff you can find around the bases and you can do target practice but I haven't messed around with mother base too much I was just wondering if there was more to it than that
I bought it and I was surprise that the price in ps4 it’s so cheap knowing that the game spend a lot of money for development I just wish to they have a desear eagle or something instead he magnums but I like it last time I played it was in guns of patriots but I didn’t like the color cause it’s pale this is in the desert too and it’s more improved I still playing until I do the 100 and the I sell it but for the time compared with other Kojima did a great job here I don’t know why some People don’t like it or why still so cheap
I'll be honest, this is just one game that I do not understand. I've played about 10% which I've done all out in the field. I don't get mother base. I don't get setting up squads. It just wont click.
I know there’s a freaking auto assign for soldiers.... but they keep saying we need medicinal plants. Which I already collected but idk how to attribute them to the mothership!!?!? They just come out on the sell resources tab but I don’t think that’s how u add them to the mother ship

Toney... you keep saying it's "simple" and "not so complex after all" - BUT if that were the truth, I wouldn't need your video!!! Would someone - for the love of GOD - 1) Please tell me why the heck some of the staff have the letter "X" inside the box next to their name under staff management, while others don't??? 2) Or how about.... why do some names have a little dark circle in front of their name (in staff management) ... 3) or how to lock the name of the staff member that you don't want to lose??? 4) Or even... why is it that I've progressed almost 50% - I've finished Main Mission 31 - started the new chapter - but I'm no longer able to use my ("sleepy sniper rifles") dart (knock out - "zzz") sniper rifle with suppressor? I have enough GMP... I have enough materials (flower and purple digitalis)... ALTHOUGH... it says something like "(15/-15") (where the positive 15 is normal in color but the negative number 15 is in red) on the right side of the pick your primary weapons screen. I don't find any of that to be simple... I've been playing for a good while now thinking that I would just figure it out eventually - BUT SO FAR I STILL HAVEN'T figured these things out." I'm so frustrated... ARG Any help would be very appreciated! Thanks!!!
I hate when japanese games throw a wrench in a perfectly good game to make it grindy and lengthen play time, ruins the whole experience. I played this game about 7 years ago, enjoyed it until I couldnt progress because I didnt spend enough time at the base to do weapon research and the game was basically soft locked for me.

Basti Freshman He was not giving me Mis-information. You are upset because you don't understand the facts. I explained it to Tony Mo in detail 3 months ago that I had an intense battle and won against Quiet but during the cutscene I was gripping my controller still so at the point when Snake walked up to her and was trying to decide wether to kill her or not, I made a mistake and pulled the trigger. I was knew to the game at that time and didn't realize that all I had to do is just start it over again. I was so shaken by the game and plus Ocelot and Miller going back and forth then when I shot her Ocelot said "that was your decision Boss" so I just continued to play the game and by the time I got further along, I guess it was too late to undo my stupid mistake. So that's when I started reaching out to RUclips players and got Tony Mo. So, I just started the game over again and now I'm a pro.

Yeal, but Fulton everyone there 1st at least a few times because ? or ?? Abilities. then clear the areas of interest with Air Support for Speed.
I've never used the air strike... it seems a waste since it reduces your rank to an A at most

You're right, it works better for me too. But assign them to your Locked developments to unlock them.

Tip: Get rid of troublemakers some soldiers have these skills which can physically or mentally hurt ur staff!

The Character got lost in a Sand storm, you need to develope that ability, I guess?

I have only completed about 4 missions and I am not familiar at all with MGS games at all. My question is, does the game get harder? I have done a few side missions and have been free-roaming but it seems pretty easy to just put every one to sleep then get what you need and get out.
Indeed, with time the enemy will adapt to your attacks and modify their equipment. And defenses to counter you. Helmets to stop your tranq rounds. Armor to stop small arms fire, heavier anti air to stop air support and so on.
They learn and adapt after every encounter with you and it will increase the challenge.
I realize this is almost a decade old lol but what happens when I fill my units to capacity? Do the extra soldiers go to the waiting room?

go to missions then to return to the mother base its the last one

At mother days is there places you can go in to like doors you can go in what I'm getting at can you actually get inside the facilities and does it benefit you to, if you can I know there's stuff you can find around the bases and you can do target practice but I haven't messed around with mother base too much I was just wondering if there was more to it than that

I have enough GMP... I have enough materials (flower and purple digitalis)... ALTHOUGH... it says something like "(15/-15") (where the positive 15 is normal in color but the negative number 15 is in red) on the right side of the pick your primary weapons screen.

I hate when japanese games throw a wrench in a perfectly good game to make it grindy and lengthen play time, ruins the whole experience. I played this game about 7 years ago, enjoyed it until I couldnt progress because I didnt spend enough time at the base to do weapon research and the game was basically soft locked for me.

I added another player and started MGSV again this time I didn't kill her so I do now have her but I'm now playing 2 MGS games and it's a drag going back and forth🙄😊 Thank you again Tony👍😊

Basti Freshman He was not giving me Mis-information. You are upset because you don't understand the facts. I explained it to Tony Mo in detail 3 months ago that I had an intense battle and won against Quiet but during the cutscene I was gripping my controller still so at the point when Snake walked up to her and was trying to decide wether to kill her or not, I made a mistake and pulled the trigger. I was knew to the game at that time and didn't realize that all I had to do is just start it over again. I was so shaken by the game and plus Ocelot and Miller going back and forth then when I shot her Ocelot said "that was your decision Boss" so I just continued to play the game and by the time I got further along, I guess it was too late to undo my stupid mistake. So that's when I started reaching out to RUclips players and got Tony Mo. So, I just started the game over again and now I'm a pro.
