Check out their cover of Sound of Silence, it is the first time I heard Matt and I got chills the minute he hit his first note. He is the bass and like Avi, Matt’s singing voice is beautiful! I like your reactions, thanks.
They gave him a prime position in that arrangement, as it builds in intensity from Scott, (who came in gloriously with his lower register) to Mitch, (in his flawless lower-mid register), and then gets handed to Matt in such a way that he absolutely stuns. Kirsten takes the apex of the song after Matt, like the pro she is, and belts like only she can belt. Each of the four solo vocalists gives me chills in their own way in Sound of Silence. I never get sick of that arrangement.

Ahh~ nice to be Mitch slapped. Absolutely love this song, and Pentatonix did a beautiful job.
They have 200 plus song catalog, not a diasppointing song among them, I haven't quite covered them all , but they cover everything from rap to gospel. If you wish to go back to the beginning. They won, the TV acapella sing- off three in 2011. It worth watching, Kirsty, Scott and Mitch were only 19, Kevin was 23 and Avi, there first bass was 21 at the time Thr first three are childhood friends. They me the other two, one or two days beforee their audtion.

Scott and Mitch have been singing together for years. Shortly after Pentatonix was formed, the two started up their own channel, Superfruit. At first it was just a funny, off the wall and NSFW weekly vlog, but as time went on, they began to do songs, invited friends to join them in the vlog, sometimes singing together, and eventually they produced two albums, Future Friends Part 1 and Future Friends Part 2. They disbanded the vlog in 2019. You should check out some of their songs...Rise ( Katy Perry cover) Lost On You ( Inception and LP cover, Hip Hop Goes Broadway, Empire medley, Happy Little Pill, Guy. Exe, Evolution of Lady Gaga, and so much more.

My favorite parts do the lighting, from dark, cold winter to a sunny winter’s day, giving us hope. I love how the sunlight shines around Kirsten. Especially when she has the counter melody and raises up her left hand. I feel God on that moment every single time.
And yes, the went to (James) Martin High School in Arlington, Texas. Such a great music department. I love their marching band. I’ve judged them for years!!

I'm SO happy, at 68 years old, to know that acapella groups are thriving. Yes, it gives me goosebumps - the human voice is the original instrument, and it needs nothing more when talented people get together like this.

You need to hear again their version of sounds of silence Brings his own to that song End again you need to hear amazing grace my chains are gone mad starts off the song and he takes me straight to church. That particular song sends so many kills down my spine that I really can't listen to it a lot because I'm always in tears. If it hasn't been recommended already you really need to listen to their version of Amazing Grace (our chains are gone)
Just as with Halleluyah there was that tingling up the spine. The first time I experienced that was in the 50s with Mario Lanza singing Ave Maria. Pentatonix (Greek for "five sounds) has an integration of voices like I have never heard before.

I have heard this multiple times but I STILL get goosebumps! Their music is sublime.
Avi left on good terms in 2017 due to his own mental health and be with nature while Scott was pushing for Pentatonix to do more music, TV shows and public appearances to gain a larger following. The Real Crux was when his Mom had Cancer. Avi's sister was their road manager so both children were away on tour all the time. Avi is doing well and just started his own band. There is a PTX Weekly channel that reviews each members moments from TixToc and Instagram. Often Avi has a few mentions at the end of the video.
Matt sings first in "Amazing Grace" and the location was one of the wedding venues he checked out. It is half hour outside LA and has been in different TV shows and movies. Matt got married in January 2022 and ALL 5 members were there. Kirstin gave birth end of June 2022 and Kevin and his wife have a toddler that will be 2 in April.
They are Real people with every day life and still make beautiful music for the world.

I would highly recommend their cover of Amaing Grace and Sound of Silence. Matt is in both of those and he gets a solo section of his own. They are both awesome songs. Also they were just nominated for another Grammy for the album that this song is on.

Fantastic reaction! There are songs where Matt leads, so you'll get to hear him. His voice is beautiful, but then, they are Pentatonix, so when Avi left, a few years ago, they pretty much had their pick of the best of the best. They chose a singer with incredibly joyful, energy in Matt. He and Avi are very different singers, but both add/ed their own flavor to the mix of PTX, and Matt is exactly the right fit for right now. At this point they have about an equal number of years with the band. The arrangement and performance of this song is so incredibly beautiful. I was banking on it getting a Grammy nomination, but the entire album it is on, "Evergreen," was nominated instead, so I am so excited to see if it wins. It has stiff competition from Michael Buble, Kelly Clarkson, Diana Ross, and Norah Jones. It would be the fourth Grammy for Pentatonix, and Matt's first.
You want to hear Matt!!! Check out Kiss from a Rose and O’ Holy Night, epic songs from them. You want goosebumps and dopamine rushes….doesn’t get any better than this. But then again….it’s Pentatonix.

Avi left PTX in 2017. Matt came in by the end of the year. Avi has been putting out great music on his own. Should try "Change on the Rise".

Like some others have said if you want to hear Matt, check out Sound of Silence or Grinch. Some other good stuff from Pentatonix that are favs are Daft Punk Medley, any of their Evolution songs (Ariana Grande, Michael Jackson, Evolution of Music, etc), also Mary Did You Know is great where Kevin actually sings some instead of beat boxing the whole time and he has a beautiful voice as well. And one of my all time favorite with an awesome message their cover of Imagine, it gets me in the feels every single time!
