The theme of this class is the yogic teaching of dharana which means concentration and is the 6th limb of yoga practice.
There are so many distractions these days. We are bombarded with stimulus from the moment we wake up and check our phones and even in our yoga practice there’s many things we can choose to focus our attention on.
We can focus on the breath, we can focus on observing our 'mind chatter', we can focus our drishti on the tip of our nose, we can also focus on the physical sensations of our body in any given pose.
This process of honing our attention, consciously directing our attention to a 1 pointed focus, whatever that is, is the practice of dharana and helps to strengthen the minds concentration muscle kind of like going to the gym and doing a workout, it really needs to be trained and tamed.
In this class, as we move through a complete, well rounded series of postures, I’m going to invite you to use the sensations of your body as focal points for your attention as your practice of dharana.
Yoga is one of the best ways to build functional strength in the body :)

This was lovely. Do you have a long (30 minutes or more) with hip osteoarthritis modifications?
