    Fantastic and detailed video about the process. We’ll done.
    This is exactly the kind of video I seek out on RUclips and you’re doing it right. No flash, no silly music, no drama, no overly obvious propaganda or opinion. Just you doing the install and explaining how you did it, why, and potential concerns and snags. Well done.

    Excellent vid. Very well done. I am at this stage. You explained and showed better than any other vid I seen. Please keep it up

    Adding an electric 2-4 psi pre pump does the same...big immediate difference.

    Love The Hungry Diesel. Only thing I have left is Steed Exhaust.93 first gen.

    You contradict the information I have seen on fuel pressure with the THD conversion. Do you have a fuel pressure gauge on it? If so what are you getting? The original diaphragm pumps only do 3.5-5lbs.

    • @FormulaJake
      @FormulaJake  Год назад

      Not sure what I'm contradicting, but the selling point of the THD pump is that it is low pressure. Not sure how low, but essentially it's a second gen piston lift pump that has been modified to deliver a reduced amount of pressure than its factory configuration.

      @@FormulaJake 1:01 you talk about increasing the volume not increasing the fuel pressure. Then right after that you talk about it increasing the fuel pressure.

      At 1:10 "and that's the problem with some other options"

    • @reallyaintbuynit2018

      @@FormulaJake there is 2 piston pump options. This basic pump you installed is bigger in volume than the original Gen2 piston pump. The original is smaller. I have an original size (smaller piston/volume) pump I was going to use to convert my fuel system. I got side tracked and bought an electric pump from Advanced for the 98.5 diesel. It does 18lbs. I talked to Eric as I sent him my VE to get rebuilt and worked up to higher volume. He said I should be okay with 18lbs. This won't be modified to the 640HP version. It is the one below that that can handle 450-ish horse power at the wheels. He advised me not to use my mechanical pump in line with the electric one as it would probably blow out the input shaft seal. I did a lower pressure spring in the lower volume pump I have. It will sit in a bag for possible future use. I am going to order a block off plate for the block for now. Thanks for the tip on the banjo fitting!!!!

    Jake I’ve replaced this and can’t for the life of me get the system primed. It’s started once struggle to stay on, then left it sit for two days and started again slightly today. Bled from the banjo, changed the fuel filter, and bled from the injectors which is hit or miss with air bubbles. Should I drill out that banjo bolt and only bleed from the bolt above the filter rather than the pimp banjo bolt line? Wondering if it’s the solenoid?

    • @FormulaJake
      @FormulaJake  Год назад

      Very well could be the solenoid, but as far as I'm aware, they usually fail and completely shut off fuel flow. I would check for leaks on the bolts to the fuel line that were installed as well. There very well could be some debris blocking fuel flow.
      I don't think the banjo bolt drilling is a necessity, but it was recommended to me since I already had it apart. I wouldn't expect it to fix the problem, but it wouldn't hurt.

    • @dirkrowe1614
      @dirkrowe1614 Год назад

      I just drilled it out, and getting better flow. All sorts of foamy suds, and won’t go to a stream now. Hoping that solenoid plunger didnt flop on me. If I’m getting so much air coming back and inconsistent injector bleeds, it’s gotta be a block
      It’s a 90 w250, so I was concerned that pump may not be able to work without the cam lever style

    • @FormulaJake
      @FormulaJake  Год назад +1

      The truck should be able to handle the pump without issue. If you keep having problems I would reach out to Eric at The Hungry Diesel. He's awesome

    What is the difference between this pump and something like an air dog or fass pump?

    • @FormulaJake
      @FormulaJake  Год назад

      Those two are high pressure. This pump doesn't change the pressure

    • @reallyaintbuynit2018
      @reallyaintbuynit2018 Год назад

      Air Dog and Fass are not something you want to run on a work truck, or daily driver. They aren't as dependable as the mechanical piston pump. Those other pumps are for going to monster high HP levels. The THD set up is really a higher volume piston pump version of the Gen2 Dodge with the P style injector pump. The actual size piston pump for the Gen2 is smaller than the THD. I think the pressure on them runs 35psi. 100% chance on blowing out the front seal on your VE injection pump. Eric uses a spring that lowers the pressure.

    Just a thought Jake. Would it be better to remove the old supply line but then remove the obtrusive insulation before taking off the old pump there by eliminating debris frim going in the mounting hole. Any problems with that ? Tell me what you think.

    • @FormulaJake
      @FormulaJake  Год назад

      I don't recall exactly how the old pump sits, but I imagine that it would be in the way. Removing the pump and putting tape over the hole would probably be an easy fix.
      I think the easiest solution is to use a utility knife to cut the insulation out, rather than grinding it out.

    does this worsen the mpgs?

    • @FormulaJake
      @FormulaJake  5 месяцев назад +1

      No sir. Drive it normal and it runs the same. It just raises the ceiling if you decide to do other power mods, which will worsen mpg if driven hard.
