That's why you learn to repair your own cars. My 2002 Durango is 20 years old now. Bought new in 2002 for $50,000 with a credit card, paid in full. No lease, no payments (credit card payments are cheaper than dealership loans fyi) It's now valued at $1,900. Never has broken down. Tires every 6 years, oil changes are done at precise intervals and fluids checked monthly for any unusual smell or color. Will drive in -50 F or 105 F no troubles. My next thing to replace soon will be the battery. After 9 years installed it's not charging past 3/4 full. Take care of your cars and you will only ever need 1 car.
@@steven5509 SLT trim + TOL engine option + dealer markup + delivery + options. There's a long list of things as to why they cost that much. I remember I had to special order it from out of state for one thing because no dealer in the city had one.
F85 x5m* I own a f15 x5. f15 x5s are regular 35i/40e. F85 is the M. The f85 m is actually pretty good tho. and for 150k miles that's also really good. Dont know how you drove 150k in 6 years tho. My 2017 x5 is 6 years old with 30k miles. Parents 2022 x5 is a year old with 10k miles.
And that actually happens quite often. A friend of mine *had* one of these. Turbos went at ~100k km's. And so did A LOT of other things, including a transmission a few more km's down the road. Would be nice if you have two of these. That way you can almost always drive one, while the other is getting fixed. Almost.
The only way to prolong turbo life is to not use them as much (hard with modern engine tuning) and to wait a few minutes before shutting the engine off to allow the turbos to cool down via circulating oil. It’s also very important to change the oil like people are supposed to, and not to prolong or delay oil change intervals for any reason. Otherwise, many German cars end up with blown turbo seals sometime after 100k. I’ve seen this as early as 80k but it isn’t very common. I’ve seen this on BMW, VW, and Audi. Even on turbo Volvo’s!
I own one... it's amazing... outside of if breaking down all the time that is. I fit the dogs and the wife and the kids in and it's a very capable SUV (I know BMW calls it an SAV). Drop the family off, hit the M button, drop it into sport mode, and it's an animal!! Great alternative to owning 2 cars (family and sports car).
+Darth Vader in the less than 1 year I owned it... injectors, battery($500 out of warranty), oil leak, power steering explosion, and the infamous "high battery drain"... nobody can figure out what it means, what causes it, and it can go away at any time and come back at any time and leave you stranded. (I'm sure I'm missing a couple breakdowns) Thank God I had a warranty on it, nothing out of pocket the entire time but the nearest BMW dealership was 1.5 hours away.... HUGE hassle. I no longer own it, back to GM and never again German. If you want a performance SUV go with the SRT8
+Darth Vader Also, make sure you have a BMW dealer close. Nobody else can work on them. I took my Beemer to a local shop first, they couldn't read the codes because everything was in German. They told me they Googled the codes but they weren't 100% sure that's what they were.... tricky BMW.

I have owned this car for years and it's great until you sit behind the wheel of a M3 or 4 or 5 or 6. I agree with Jeremy. Everything about this car is really nice by themselves, but once you put them together, it just does not work. That being said, it's still really fun to drive.
raojz Only problem I have with my F85 is that the headrests are a bit odd and crane your neck forward too much so you have to recline the seat. Otherwise, it's a blast.
That drag race was a perfect illustration of traction vs power to weight ratio. AWD will always get off the line faster especially in the wet. Doesn't mean it will win over a long distance though.
apart from every nut and bolt being redesigned yes. xD BMW = funny that way. its the same engine but the oilsystem is completely different. so if you try to interchange parts , your so screwed xD.
filippxxx The E53 was the last, this E70 X5M is the same concept as the F85 and F95 X5Ms now, powerful and same S63 engine 2 generations after. All X5M generations share the same engine. So it isn’t the last proper one, the only and last one was the E53, naturally aspirated V8 S62!
The M division was in way over its head with this car. some of the plastic around the cabin filter just breaks away bc of the high heat. replacing anything on this engine is a nightmare. and the turbo's are in the middle of the V8 . again good idea on paper , but waaaaaaaaay to many problems xD.
The X5 M does 0-60 in 4.4 seconds. The new ones do it in 3.9 seconds, so yes it definitely does smoke many sports cars off the line...but they catch up soon after
