I have been a full time seller on ebay, amazon and walmart for over 20 years, Lots of companies are like Traxxas are picky using their names,in titles. They feel some people will get confused and think the similar reviewed products are theirs and lose sales from it. They are all protective of their brands and trademarks. its very common. in earlier days companies Bose JBL and a few others would not allow you to even list their names and model numbers in the titles and descriptions even if you was selling one of their actual products.
Fantastic! I've just ordered the HPX with 3 batteries! Been after something like this since I was a kid. Dabbled with a nitro Subaru (for a day) then a nitro monster truck (for a week). All too expensive, too much hassle, too time consuming. This thing can come camping, to the beach, the skatepark!! All my chilling RC dreams in one package for little more than a hundred quid. Sounds too good to be true so hoping the saying doesn't become a reality🤞🏻
I bought my youngest daughter the HBX Rapture a few months back, it's the brushless version with full metal running gear, and it is simply awesome!! For its pricing and quality - bigger brand names should take note. As for mods all I've done is change the shock oil and also cleaned and added diff oils (5k to each), it's a crackin little RC! I just hope she doesn't twig how to raise the throttle limit on the Tx.. I've been searching for batteries of the same size as standard for it though, seems to be limited to a certain small-sized 2S. The two I've bought as extra batteries are a tad too big for the tray.
I have the original hbx 16889 and it’s a beast a few little screws finally got messed up after a good year and a half of solid play running through dirt and jumps and no maintenance at all
I came here after watching a video on using Raspberry Pi's as remote controls for small robotic modules and thought what if ....so that's how i ended up here, I'd use them for ground versions of what I'd use a drone for. I'm also looking at amphibious craft, hovercraft? for crossing lakes and tarns. I want to bring something different to the Outdoor Bushcraft and Camping vibe. I could mount cheap 4k cams on them for great shots. Thanks this has given me great food for thought.
the only thing i have broken on the HBX was one of the wheel screws, quick and cheap fix and it was back to bashing! can't wait for the Hyper Go to be more attainable in the U.S.
I had one of these and I found one major problem in the hyper go when ever you go in sand or dirt or any thing that can get in your gears it will I had a problem with the front and rear differentials on mine because sand will get in there and eat the gears
Damn, being as old as I am, I've completely neglected to consider how advancements in battery and brushless motor technology could and indeed have revolutionised rc monster trucks. I used to have one as a kid but it was a toys tore monster truck. Not the gas one. These would blow those old gas ones out the damn water! I would have killed for one of these as a kid. I recently started earning more. I'm going to get one again.
Super tough little RC's - when we checked over the Hyper Go tot eh HBX they looked the same design, loads of fun for an adult and absolutely killer for a child
Thanks for having shown that evidence of Traxxas's bullying tactics. Yes, a brushless Hyper Go would be cool! Doubly so if they ditch the GPS nonsense so to keep the price low.

My first one was a WLTOYS 14001 and the only reason I bought it was because of RUclips reviews.I used it for training my dog and mounted a plush wild boar on top. That dog is buff from chasing that thing and it is still running after years of grave and grass driving.I need to get a bigger RC basher for a bigger pig on top🤣

Hi phil recently joined your channel which is great by the way. I've recently bought a hbx16889a pro but shocks are a little sluggish could recommend a shock oil as only just got back into rc cars after a long period away.
It's not a Traxxas and it doesn't look like a Traxxas but he still mentions Traxxas when they didn't want him to mention them, I love this guy. I found one on eBay with 1 battery - brushless and I'm absolutely about to get it for my son for Christmas.
On my HBX the front left drive shaft keeps splitting at the wheel end, gone through 3 so far, seem to be the only part that breaks, I am going to look for change to see if I can get a standard cup or something as I now have a 2 wheel drive car again until the spares arrive :/ I bought a hyper go for my kids birthday, looks like a solid little car and hopefully he won't break it to quick :D
@@TomleyRC I have bust two just from the end spelching off and it turns the driveshaft into what is essentially a sharp spike which then just falls out. One of my kids launched it off a half pipe as well and bent another one but the end of that also split and broke. Maybe just bad luck, I have another set of two on order so hopefully they last a bit longer this time, done this in about two months of heavy use as it is currently my only car, but will be getting an MT10 soon for my B'day :D Looking forward to when I have my car and my two boys having theirs and doing a bit of bashing and racing together.
These little bashers are extremely impressive. I know I am stating the obvious. But, the skate park is the best durability test as compared to other videos I've watched. Can you adjust the throttle on any of these? When kids get r/c cars for the first time, one of things they do is to run their cars head on into an immovable object. Even these will need parts. How easy is it to get parts? Thanks again for another great video.
6 months later 😊 I have the Flyhal FC600 which is a clone of the 16889A Pro. It does have a setting on the remote to limit speed. My nephews have a ton of fun with it!

Hi phil recently joined your channel which is great by the way. I've recently bought a hbx16889a pro but shocks are a little sluggish could recommend a shock oil as only just got back into rc cars after a long period away.
Hi Paul, my usual go to oil is about 500cst… but in all honesty I’m not great at tuning them lol. Certainly worth looking at some how to’s 👍
It's not a Traxxas and it doesn't look like a Traxxas but he still mentions Traxxas when they didn't want him to mention them, I love this guy. I found one on eBay with 1 battery - brushless and I'm absolutely about to get it for my son for Christmas.
Everyone else is too scared or have sold out to them
Love getting my fix of Tomley.
Cheers dude 😎🤟
On my HBX the front left drive shaft keeps splitting at the wheel end, gone through 3 so far, seem to be the only part that breaks, I am going to look for change to see if I can get a standard cup or something as I now have a 2 wheel drive car again until the spares arrive :/
I bought a hyper go for my kids birthday, looks like a solid little car and hopefully he won't break it to quick :D
Hmm.. that seems strange. Maybe a defect somewhere?
@@TomleyRC I have bust two just from the end spelching off and it turns the driveshaft into what is essentially a sharp spike which then just falls out. One of my kids launched it off a half pipe as well and bent another one but the end of that also split and broke. Maybe just bad luck, I have another set of two on order so hopefully they last a bit longer this time, done this in about two months of heavy use as it is currently my only car, but will be getting an MT10 soon for my B'day :D
Looking forward to when I have my car and my two boys having theirs and doing a bit of bashing and racing together.
6 months later 😊
I have the Flyhal FC600 which is a clone of the 16889A Pro. It does have a setting on the remote to limit speed. My nephews have a ton of fun with it!
Love it, great bashing !
Hi Phil, Not only are you an excellent go to guy for videos, but is that a ClioSport I see hidden behind the shelves?
Great review man. It's crazy what a beating those things will take!
Cheers Robert. They are awesome
i have the ftx tracer , that i changed to brusheless , its also an undestrutible beast now ;) i love those small skate park bashers ;)))) nice videos dude ;)
Yeah, they are beasts! Hoping they’ll start stocking brushless ones in the UK
@@TomleyRC i used the electronics of my wltoys 124017 on the tracer eheheh its quite alive now, after 2 lipos of 2200mha at the skatepark, nothing broke, i love that little beast 🥳
The fan... I spilled my coffee...lol...
Always good to have a fan on hand when you need it
Excellent trucks, really like um😀😀👍👍
Hi nice video but I have a question what kind of battery comes of stock? Mimh? Regards from 🇲🇽
