Some of the speed run cars are over 200mph…actual, NOT scale. Amazing. I understand why the electric motors and higher voltages and current work out, but I remain baffled as to how they keep tires on the little buggers. Regardless of construction, imagine the rotational speed of a tire of such a small diameter. Unreal.
Imagine full emergency stop braking in one car but simultaneously focusing on another undergoing different physics. I feel car sick just thinking about it! Well done everyone!! What a treat
I'd never have believed it. Normally the tiny size of the wheels alone would be enough to defeat a car that small. In its favour I suppose are being extremely low slung / low drag & extreme light weight. I thought maybe on the 2nd run its batteries would've been exhausted, but it still destroyed the others on run 3. Amazing!

Fun fact: Buggati Chiron Super Sport's wheels at its absolute top speed of 491km/h rotate 32 times (front) / 30,5 times (rear) every second (or 1920/1830 rpm). This RC car averaged a speed of 168kph over 1/4 mile, meaning that its actual top speed was probably around 200kph, at which its wheels were rotating about 90 times per second (5400rpm).
@@riskvlogs4795 yeah but you have to consider the gearing bigger wheels the higher the center of gravity . The motor could overheat and fail in the worst case or the esc is just going to cut the power to save itself. Another worst case would be the car getting airborne and it can total the poor thing. It can go faster but its not as easy as slapping bigger tires or a bigger pinion gear
Dont underestimate those little RC cars ! Back in 2010 when Brushless motor & LiPo battery technology really started to explode, I built a 'Factory Team Spec' TC4 by Team Associated, this was the last of the shaft-driven AWD platform before switching over to belt drive in the TC5... I fitted a then-the most powerful Novak 'Velociti' 3 1/2 turn 540-size brushless motor for 1/10 scale... just to give you an idea, the stock brushed motor that came with those 1/10 scale Tamiya Kits were around 27 turns and the lower the number of turns the more 'powerful' it is.. Anyways this TC4 / Novak 3.5 combo smashed the fastest nitro equivalent 1/10 RTR car that was available on the market at the time. Ive always been a huge😢 supporter of the much cleaner and lower maintenance involved with electric RC. The technology had always been there for a long long time but the one single thing that was holding it back was the battery technology that was available which was limiting power output & run time. Nicad and similar was the make-do power source for many years but the weight was hindering both performance and hence run time. However when developers eventually came out with LiPo technology, it pushed electric RC to the stratosphere with it much lighter packaging as well as much larger 'capacity' compared to the old Nicad. I can only imagine whats coming in the near future when even better battery-tech is being developed.

@ 6:45 love how the RC driver was hyper venitelating from the sheer adrenaline and excitement that his little "toy" beat a real life one
Chris is a damn good rc driver. He has won plenty of buggy races when racing for companies like durango. I am a fellow racer and can only imagine how hard that car was too keep in a straight line.
If it is properly trimmed with toe in not toe out should be alright. Further, did Chris imply the use of a giro or similar to assist with directional stability? That's illegal in BRCA RC racing and similar series racing. Control is all on the fingers.
Thanks Adrian 👍🏻
Yeah we needed a gyro because quite frankly it is impossible to actually steer with any precision while your own body is doing 0-60mph in under 3 seconds banging through the gears. Once up to speed I could then start to steer the car to correct for wind etc as it was really windy (runway)
I think we topped out at around 150mph after around 4 seconds or so and maintained that until the quarter mile 🔥
@@chrisdoughty8912 awesome mate, love watching the RC racing, incredible skills from the drivers! :)
@@sonicstep Even still, it's so far ahead, just keeping eyes on it would be fairly hard. You could see from the look of absolute concentration on his face, that this was not easy to do.

Well, that was VERY cool. Can’t say I’m completely surprised as I have been observing RC more in the last 12 months than I did 25 years ago as a teen. Some of the speed run cars are over 200mph…actual, NOT scale. Amazing. I understand why the electric motors and higher voltages and current work out, but I remain baffled as to how they keep tires on the little buggers. I'd never have believed it. Normally the tiny size of the wheels alone would be enough to defeat a car that small. I thought maybe on the 2nd run its batteries would've been exhausted, but it still destroyed the others on run 3. Amazing!

They race on a runway so they need approval for using a drone for every race. That's probably why they don't do it.
@@livaivandeweyer6464 They'd most likely be filming a bunch of these races with various cars in a single day, and then just dropping them on RUclips over time. I own an Arrma Senton 6s which is mental for an RC car. @@Insaiyanrider the Arrma Limitless comes a roller. Meaning, it is plainly the chassis, wheels, frame, body.. It has no electronics. It is priced at 400 USD.

Fun fact: Buggati Chiron Super Sport's wheels at its absolute top speed of 491km/h rotate 32 times (front) / 30,5 times (rear) every second (or 1920/1830 rpm).
This RC car averaged a speed of 168kph over 1/4 mile, meaning that its actual top speed was probably around 200kph, at which its wheels were rotating about 90 times per second (5400rpm).
he should somehow put bigger wheels on the rc
@@riskvlogs4795 yeah but you have to consider the gearing bigger wheels the higher the center of gravity . The motor could overheat and fail in the worst case or the esc is just going to cut the power to save itself. Another worst case would be the car getting airborne and it can total the poor thing. It can go faster but its not as easy as slapping bigger tires or a bigger pinion gear
Love this.
