You're right, nostalgia plays a huge factor here, though I prefer the NYXI Wizard and still think it could use a bit more weight to make it feel more like the original GC controller.
NYXI has improved the Wizard from their first release. Dpad has proper pivot now and face buttons feel better. The sticks are more precise too. *Edit- Right stick is snapping to cardinal directions and dpad gets a bit tiring to use with the mechanical switches they chose to use. Left stick is good. (I would have preferred to have a perfect right stick for aiming because left stick usually doesn’t need that type of precision.) I don’t recommend getting a Wizard anymore.

I just don't get why these have to be joycons. I think they'd be much better as a solid controller and then they could get rid of that awkward middle piece that makes the controller too wide
Will you be doing a review on the Nitro Deck when it's out?
The Nitro Deck is barely any more ergonomic than the official Nintendo Joycons. I think you would be much better off and you would pay a lot less for the DOYOKY Wired RGB Joycon Controller for Switch.
@@SunDownSamurai I'm not interested in non hall effect sticks tbh. I like the no deadzones and the reassurance for no drift
Thank you for the video
Watching this video made me realise I want a third option lol
Wavebird cut in half lmao
Thank you for your video !!!!❤
Does either the doyoky or the wizard have HD ruble or the're both traditional?
neither have HD rumble :(
Neither. Both old school.
Is it possible to use those controllers with the switch lite?
It is
Listen, the Doyoky being so thin the rails are going to bust. Trust me. It’s nice it’s thinner but it’s fragile
I just hope Doyoky releases the hall effect version of this controller anytime soon, because I've been having a lot of issues placing my order on the Nyxi website, and the Nyxi GC controllers do not appear on amazon or elsewhere, as far as I know...
Should be this month. Maybe next. Sooner than later, hopefully.
I imagine you've seen, but they are out!
@@CarrotsNotCake yes! I'm just waiting until they release the case for the controller, they said it is coming out near the end of the month, so it should be close by. Thanks!
Do either of these have amiibo support?
There's no NFC support, sorry.
we understood you liked more the doyoky one
I think doyoky is a brand owned by binbonk. The main makers os the alternatives joy cons..
That's correct, Doyoky is the main company and BinBok and even NYXI get their joycons made from them.
I really like these types of videos, they help me a lot to decide what to buy. I look forward to purchasing an IINE controller zelda edition, it would be awesome if you could check it out.
I think that that controller is very... copycat. Basically, if you like the Switch Pro controller, you'll like that one.
I love how the first 2 minutes are solely about fat-shaming controllers.
I want to like the Doyoky but my god the black middle piece looks so awful. Why isn’t it purple?!
It's purple now, and black on the upcoming black Hall effect model.
Are the Z button hinges? That's the thing I hate most about OG gcc's because my hands is large and my finger naturally rests on the hinge and most of the time I don't end up hitting it
Don't fat shame the Wizard.
Is it me or the only thing hori has is that Nintendo approve them
Pretty much
I mean, yeah. Better stick modules, I imagine.
I would prefer the DOYOKY, but why bother if its gonna drift in less than a year? I dont need to be buying a new pair every year lol
Yeah I get you, they'd be epic with hall effect but there's nothing to say they will drift in a year. Some controllers with potentiometers last decades
If their joysticks are as quality as GameCube's, they'll last for at least as long as GameCube's have. 22 years in, I have perfect GameCube controllers. No input issues, no drift. Quality potentiometers last for a looooong time.
@@128KB Exactly! I dig Hall effect, but this outright anti-potentiometer sentiment is unfounded.
Review was 1 ago, dude. What kind of nonsense did you say about ZL and ZR? Super Smash Bros. for Wii U - release date: 11/28/2014.
And this is the first one with support for the GameCube controller. True, this is not the original, but Nintendo made a 100% copy.
No idea what you're talking about 🙃
@@128KB What I'm saying is that at least the last two games in the Super Smash Bros. series. (for Wii U and Ultimate) have a GameCube controller, when it comes to the fact that ZL + ZR on Joy-cons does not feel the same as L and R on the GameCube controller.
1:40 LOOK AT THE GURTH ON THAT
Hahaha I know right
I like the fatter wizard, better to grip. The thin one feels so cheap. I dgaf how it looks flush
Oh you've tested both?
There is absolutely no more mush in the revised Wizard…
Awesome, I've just got the new colourways of the Wizard, I'll have to compare them with my original one!
@@128KB that’s cool. I’m looking forward to a video. I think they deserve a new review by somebody (hopefully you) that points out the improvements they made, because they really did listen to the community. I had some issues with my order from the first wave so I was sent a replacement. I was blown away by how much better the face buttons feel. The dpad also has a proper pivot now, so all directions can’t be pressed at once. Thanks for the response. Love your videos.
This review is heavily biased in favor of the doyoky. Who TF sugar coats not have hall sensors 😂😅😅😂
There's no bias here just my opinion on what I prefer. Also, the DOYOKY DOES have hall effect sensors now, video will be soon.
I have twenty year old potentiometer sticks that work perfectly after over a thousand hours. Potentiometer sticks can be very high quality, or they can be the low quality junk that seems to be common in first party controllers these days. Hall sticks can be junk, too, as has been seen with the sticks in Nyxi's having issues at an alarming rate.
@@128KB I think the only thing that changed is the sticks. I'm hoping that they use Hall triggers in a future revision. They are a very good imitation of GameCube's analog.
loon at the girth on that thing
128kb 2023
😂😂😂
I like some weight to my controller
Add weights! Take off the back shell, hot glue 'em where you want 'em, and there you go.
@@CarrotsNotCake that’s a lot of extra steps when I could just have a controller that fills the hand without needing me to physically mod it
@@Numatruehome It's really not, but alright.
@@CarrotsNotCake I mean why would I do that when one of them has all of that, and the superior longer lasting joysticks
Sigh. If only doyoky had hall effect….. because they got the buttons right. And nyxi has the hall effect, but not the buttons….
Doyoky will be releasing Hall effect versions. They're doing quality control on their first batch of them right now, ensuring that they get to customers in working order. Unlike some companies.
In 2024 the doyoky is cheaper then normal joycons
Doyoky loses for that god awful C stick design.
Wow no hall effect sensors for that price? HARD PASS!
They're releasing a hall effect version soon.
if it aint Thicc it aint shit 🤣🤣🤣 NYXI FTW
Nyxi all the way😁
That’s right
These types of videos are really toxic on actual facts. Promoting products they have never tested for themselves. Reminds me of politicians.
Lol whut, look at the channel and you'll find my reviews of each product. I've tested these products showing both pros and cons. These aren't sponsored or paid either.
@@128KB "whut" You trying to make a dime like everyone else I get. I could care less sponsored or not. The agenda is the same on these pathetic alternatives and misleading the audience like Nancy Pelosi. People catch on. Stop pretending. You are not the only one.
bro, have u review "Omelet Switch Pro+ Joy-Pad Wireless Controller" seems like one of the good choice for pad pro replacement
