- The Mobapad Chitu HD controller is close to perfection. We previously reviewed the Mobapad Huben M9 Elite and whilst we really enjoyed that we were let down by the lack of Hall Effect joysticks, however; that all changes here.
This is an excellent controller but is it better than the M9 Elite? Is this the best Switch controller money can buy? Let's find out!

The dish is for fighting games it helps tremendously for double dashing and even rotational moves
Yeah but it's really bad for 2D platformers. In my opinion, a dish should always be an additional price modification because it only works for certain game types (like you said where rotational moves are involved). This is why 8bitdo has become so popular because they have original D-pad designs but in my opinion it is still a little squishy unlike the original D-pad from Nintendo (this is related to resistance from the springs).
Got it and enjoyed it
It is molded the same way as the Nintendo switch controller
The app helps you program the buttons a lot better when you aren’t very technical
all in all it is a very good device
Great Video! Btw you can actually button swap the back button through the app, I believe there’s a QR code on the manual you can scan 👍
Yes, but it’s a little different compared to the ultimate 8bitdo controller app
This one requires both manual and digital reprogramming
Awesome review as usual, about the rumble, there is no adjustment but it's actually the same HD rumble motor than the Nintendo pro controller. I love it, been having it for a few weeks. My only complaint is the size of the back button which are way too small. Beside that It's perfect.
This sounds like a gulikit king kong 2 pro with the actually pro features 😮 clicky triggers and face buttons with programable back buttons nice, if they dont release the GK KK 3 pro before this year ends im gonna buy this
I really like this controller, bc it has all the features and mouse click like buttons !
Very detailed and unbiased video thanks!
Mines arriving in the morning I’m excited
I really like your videos! Keep up the good work!
Just got the controller based on your glowing recommendation. Loving it so far!
Do you know any cases that work with it/cases it fits well in?
Does it work on Xbox/PlayStation?
Yea i got this controller last week. Its really good even those the dpad ok. Prefer the snes style but still its ok. King kong pro 2 good but it doesn't have the back buttons. I definitely like the clicking buttons those. Definitely give this a 4 out 5. For this controller.
Other than the Hall effect sticks and changeable d-pad I think the Elite has more going for it. It'd be nice if they added those to the elite cause I'd definitely drop money on that.
Yeah it has more features for sure, if you're not going to utilise the button swaps etc. then this is another option.
Elite has too many qc issues
@nazarethproductions7095 do you have personal experience on it? Everywhere I've looked, there's no one that has any real long-term experience with it, and I'd like to know
actually you can remap the buttons to the back, but you need to use the app to do that
Yeah, I wasn't actually aware of the app until after testing. They never told me about it lmao
its getting closer to the controller type that I want. Everythings checked except D-Pad placement and the options to swap the trigger with digital or analog
@@memorysticky7581 yeah with this controller is way too low at the bottom
@@memorysticky7581 yeah hope u getting the best experience with it
Just ordered one! Do you know whether Xbox or Playstation Kontrol Freaks work on this controller? It has everything I need except a longer right stick. Great video!
Can someone please answer this 'cause I'm planning to buy one? Just a concern. Do triggers more like gulikit or more like 8bitdo? I really love the gulikit triggers, but hate the 8bitdo. Please answer me. TIA.😊😊
What does the gyro drift look like in Steam? I’m trying to find a controller that stays between +1 and -1 for the values only slightly moving a bit while stationary.
how does this compare to the 8bitdo ultimate?
I've both and the main similarities and differences of the Mobapad, compared to the 8bitDo Ultimate are:
• Identical body shape
• Both have hall effect sticks
• Both have button mapping, with profiles (via app)
• Slightly different but very similar stick grips
• Slightly different textured body
• No charging dock
• Only Bluetooth
• Slightly worse app
• Smaller, slightly less ergonomic back buttons
• Only digital Z triggers
• Customisable LED
• Macro and Turbo physical mapping buttons
• Metal stick rings (protect from stick wear)
• All mechanical buttons
• Swappable d-pad
• HD rumble
This SOUNDS like I prefer the 8bitDo but the mechanical buttons, plate d-pad and HD rumble are such game changers I'm absolutely in love with my Mobapad.
Both are excellent choices!
@@zebramattI got a switch more or less recently and I'm using the joycons but I'm on edge everytime since they feel so fragile but I love the HD rumble. I've been looking for a cool third party controller and the 8bitdo ones seem amazing but lack the feature. Does HD rumble in the mobapad works well?
If this were to be the second best option, which one is the absolute best? (If I were to buy one myself)
personally i really like and recommend gulikit kk3, i use it everyday and it's the best controller ive ever used
My switchs sound nothing like that?
Rubber dome buttons != membrane buttons, please, stop mixing them 🙃. Buttons in gamepads are rubber domes with conductive contact mechanism (no membranes necessary). In opposition, keys of keyboards are rubber domes with pressure contact mechanism (they press a membrane that carries conductive contacts) - and that's what is meant when we say "membrane button". I doubt if membrane enabled gamepads even exist.
I dont understand what your saying🙃
@@ErkkiPalmu just google it 😉
Sad thing is that you haven't really reviewed the controller itself. You've tested macro buttons. You've said the thing that everyone can read in it's tech specs\ads. And mostly that's it. The thing that the most interesting is how the controller feels, how d-pad feels, are back buttons obtrusive or too hard to press, has hall effect sticks good edge movement, are sticks inertial and overshoot when rapidly shifted like in 8bitdo?
There's a lot of questions that are not answered
thanks for the review
@@128KB thank you too!
Do you know if there may be a phone mount for it that may fit?
I'm looking at the M9 and it says it has hall effect sensors
Moba pad release more and better colors of this and ill consider buying it
Really good review, thank you! Any updates after 8 months how the hall effect joysticks and the controller in general are holding up?
You're welcome and thank you! Still my go to controller tbh, not had a single issue. Will do an updated video discussing it soon I think!
@@128KB thank you so much! Ordered a couple yesterday using your link.:)
I hope they create a mount for that controller to hold switch so I can use that controller on the go.
This controller vs the gulikit King Kong 2 pro controller?
gulikit kk3 controller is better
The rumble not being adjustable was a dealbreaker for me, don't over configure a controller to the point you kill some features.
For example the rgb button on my switch controller doesn't work unless i buy the transparent one, but that is under configuration more than over configuration.
The fact that you can't button swap with the back buttons ruins this controller. Seems like the 8bitdo Ultimate Wireless will still be the best controller, imo.
Also, why did they add the removable joysticks if there weren't going to include any extra sticks? That's a serious mistake from Mobapad.
Costs I guess. The DPad swap was a part included instead. Hopefully they sell them individually. You're still getting more than most, but I like that the 8bitdo Ultimate comes with a really nice dock.
You can apparently button swap, but you just need the app to do it, according to @zacknepolean7230 's comment.
The micro switches are breaking very easy and there are no spares what so ever so I don't recomand it. My little one dropped the controller and the ZR microswitch got damaged very easily, not the common microswitiches that you could purchase.
id get this controller if it wasnt red. i think the grey/red look is soooo cheap 3rd party looking. wish it was that grey with black.
Pls use a script, I'm just combing through yt videos for a controller.
2x speed is ineffective.
Lol whut
Can you physically switch A/B and X/Y to get an Xbox layout?
Ah man, everything was going so well *seemed perfect* until you mentioned you can only assign macros to the back paddles, no button swap! In BOTW & TOTK, I use those for sprint & jump/glide and honestly can't play without it - because I like to control the camera without going with an uncomfortable claw grip during those actions.
So I guess I'm sticking to 8bitdo Ultimate, which also has hall effect sticks. Mechanical switches would be nice.
Excellent review! So much depth.
Did you buy the controller? Can you confirm that its possible to button swap in the app (to make it so you gain all functionality of say the Y button on the right paddle button)
Another question. If you make your back paddle "Y" can the actual "Y" face button still be used as "Y" or does the back now replace that button rendering it unusable?
@@piotr78 I stuck with the 8bitdo Ultimate controller. But if a controller you buy doesn’t support something like this you can find third party software that does just about any kind of remapping of controller input to key inputs and macros for Windows.
@@piotr78 In the video titled "Mobapad Chitu Review - The "Lite" M9" by VK's Channel, around the 5:30 mark, he shows a test where remapping in the app does allow it to function correctly as a 1:1 button instead of a macro. I'd link it but I think youtube hides comments with links. This plus all the other people I've such makes me pretty confident it should work. I'm worried about it too haha, it would be a huge deal breaker for me, but it seems like it will work. UNLESS you have an android and not an iPhone, as I've seen one person report the functionality does not work as intended in the android app, as of a couple months ago.
