  • Gamesir's Nova Pro controller actually surprised me...
    Gamesir have just launched the "Nova" controller, a pro controller for the Nintendo Switch with HD Rumble, Hall Effect joysticks, Gyro, Turbo, Macro, Button Swap, Programmable back paddles, Wake From Sleep & Multiplatform capabilities... All for £39.99, but how does it perform?

    I'm glad that HD rumble is becoming a standard feature in third party controllers

      Absolutely agreed! Everyone's argument previously for companies not using HD rumble was it would drive the price so high but this proves that's not the case!

    I just love how you review this without expecting too much for it's price. This only cost around 15 GBP in my country. I've been watching so many reviews from GameSir Nova Lite to GuliKit KK3 Max, and I am thinking that this one is pretty decent for it's price.

    My Mobapad Chitu controller got stolen in Decemeber and i really miss it but this seems to be a great option for a replacement. It has practically the same features minus NFC that i don't use.

    I've had the gamesir G7 SE for xbox with hall effect sticks for about 8 months, and it still has no drift at 3% dead zone. It's the only controller I've ever had that hasn't got stick drift after 3 months, it's insane. I definitely trust gamesir, but this is anecdotal keep in mind.

    So ive got 2 of these and the weird thing is one has that whine you mentioned and you can hear and feel the motors turn off.
    The 2nd one has no whine and you can't hear or feel the motors turn off but the rumbe feels stronger.

    • @128KB
      @128KB  18 дней назад

      Oh weird! Maybe the one that doesn't whine is a newer batch with a different rumble motor, maybe they fixed it!

      @linkssz1699 18 дней назад

      @@128KB maybe, it's my newer one that has the whine which is the transparent blue one but I suppose it could be from an older batch, the Gameboy style one is fine and I ordered that first.

      @@curreye Careful with 8Bitdo, in the span of 16 months i've owned one 8bitdo Pro 2 and one 8Bitdo Ultimate wired and while I love the software and face buttons the shoulder buttons break VERY easily, on my 8bitdo pro 2 the RB broke after 6 months of light use, on Ultimate the LB broke too, something with the plastic sinking in, I say stay away from 8bitdo and try a gamesir or Pro Vader 3 if you want 3rd party.

    • @MrTheqwery
      @MrTheqwery 26 дней назад +1

      i have both. my opinion is that ultimate beats Nova. Due to the dock, the 2.4g receiver and the quality materials, the two are incomparable. Nova is an cheap (and good) HD rumble- and hall effect controller. Ultimate BT is a premium controller. The shortcomings of Ultimate (on Switch) are non-lockable triggers and the lack of HD rumble (amiibo doesn't count for me).

    Does Nova can do firmware update? If it is, How?.....
    Just got mine last night.....
    at 1st, somehow my switch can't detect my Nova in NS-Pro Mode (Home+X), but it does in "Receiver Mode" (Home+Y, assuming this mode is for wireless dongle)...
    I reset my Nova with its reset button on its back, and my switch able to detect and connect my Nova in NS-Pro Mode (Home+X)......
    but then, while using, sometimes my Nova's input get unresponsive...it doesn't disconnect from My switch, it still stays connect but my input gets unresponsive time to time... I was out of time today so gonna test again later at night by resetting my Nova again, as well my Switch too while on it to see if it persist...

      record button? you mean screenshot? thats forced pairing mode right? haven't tried yet on my switch, only on my Android when my phone cant detect Nova in android mode (Home+B)....
      last night, tried to do it again...
      i unpaired my controllers on my switch, and tries to pair the Nova again in procon mode (home+x), ofc somehow switch cant detect, i mindlessly repeatedly pressing the pro-con mode combination, till it got connected, like last time...dunno how.... anyway, played a couple of game after that, the unresponsive input is gone somehow, so i probably wont bother unpairing my Nova again....well, as long it doesn't get any issue like unresponsive input, but if it happened again, gonna try the force pairing on my switch next time.
      oh yea, after unpairing it for 1st time....the wirelss/receiver mode (Home+Y) wont connect on my switch, which that's supposed to be... it was weird when it does connect before...

      If u want to go wireless, buy the Nova Lite, it come with the dongle.

    • @Trollsahoy
      @Trollsahoy 11 дней назад

      @@HarpaxA The regular Nova also has a dongle, though it needs to be purchased separately. Will allow for dongle Xinput.
      The Nova can be used with Bluetooth in Windows too, though it defaults to a Pro Controller sign, so you'd need to use Steam, or an Xinput wrapper to use it with most games. But in short, yes it works perfectly fine with Windows wireless, it just requires an extra hoop to jump through.
