For all those asking why Jack had a son. This is how i interpret it.... This afterlife to the charaters is like a life they would imagin if they never crashed. So Juliet would have never gone to the island and possibly worked in a hospital. And because she did have feelings for Jack, and both happened to be doctors it was likely they would have met and developed feelings here as well but they get divorced probably because they weren't supposed to be together yet remain friends. Juliet here, can have a family which she desired and Jack as well. Jack has a son and their relationship depicts the relationship Jack would have wanted with his dad but never had. Jack tells his son he'll always be proud of him, in contrast to what his father used to say. "You don't have what it takes". But Jack's father still did love him and there was just a communication problem between the two, so we see Jack having a similar communication problem with his son and finally fixing it. Jack had a son in afterlife so he can fix his daddy issues.
David was a product of Jack's desires to overcoming his daddy issues in the flash-sideways. In the flash-sideways some of the characters could achieve their inner wishes, like Jack being a good father, or even Juliet! Who could finally end her relationship with Jack in good terms. And yeah, the flash-sideways were real. Not ''real'' like physically real, but metaphysically real.
And then Jack remembered after was done wit lockes surgery and Locke tells him he doesn’t have son and Jack gives a look like he’s knows what he’s talking bout but doesn’t wanna come to the realization but he knows he doesn’t have a son which in my theory is why David is never shown again after that scene with Jack & Locke because Jack needed to know wat it was like to be a dad so he could forgive his own dad
I find it so funny that in season 3 Ben told Jack that he chose Juliet to be his liaison while holding Jack prisoner because she resembled his ex-wife, and now here she actually is his ex-wife.
He's schroedinger's cat. He's the lynch pin that's supposed to make you think, or decide, whether the sideways world was real or was a waystation for lost souls.
This alternative universe/afterlife is what would've been if the island hadn't taken these people. This scene shows that even though Jack loved Kate, he still preferred having a life with Juliet. In real life, Jack tried to live a normal life with Kate raising Aaron and proposing to her but it didn't work. It didn't work between Jack and Kate because love wasn't enough. The lack of trust Jack harbored towards Kate broke their relationship. With Juliet, Jack would've had everything he would've needed but he let her walk away because he didn't want to lose her and he didn't feel deserving of someone like her. Juliet was Jack's mature love. Kate was Jack's all-consuming love. Jack and Juliet working and meeting at the same hospital and falling in love because it was meant to happen. These two were meant to fall in love like they were meant to meet in both worlds. They get married and start a family because it was meant to be. The true meaning of this is that despite all the obstacles, Jack and Juliet were meant to be a FAMILY.
I love this alternative universe. It's what it would have been if the island didn't exist or it had never taken these people. Juliet would work at a hospital, probably the same hospital as Jack, because they were simply meant to meet. They both get feelings for each other, it was meant to happen. They start a family and realize their inner desires. They both really wanted families and children. For Juliet, it was the continuation of her pregnancy in real life, and for Jack, it was a projection of his own relationship with his father. It's interesting that for some people, nothing much changed, like Kate, for example. She was a fugitive in both world, she helped deliver Claire's baby in both worlds.
enRiQue iglEsias I think he was her father. I remember Kate going to her dad who told her that Wayne was her biological father. You may be right about the regret. The strangest plot line was Charlie's. In real life, he got over his addiction, yet in the Alt Universe he was again an addict.
Imbra Kim Yes, i remember now. He was her biological father. I think for most charaters their lives in the 'afterlife world' are almost the same untill the island comes into play. Juliet is still a doctor here, but because there is no island so she never leaves and meets Jack. That's probably Juliet's storyline. Even though their lives are slightly different here but all of them have the same problems they had in real life before crashing on the island. Jack still has dad issues and his father still dies and he never finds his body. So instead he imagines a son with whom he develops a relationship he would have wanted with his dad. He is still stubborn. Sawyer even though a cop still wants revenge against the real Sawyer. Same for Charlie. He had his addiction problem before he crashed on the island so it's still there. And also he was only able to overcome it with Locke and Claire. Still i do feel Charlie's flash sideways could have been better. But i guess there are just so many charaters that it must have been very difficult for the writers.
This isn't an alternative universe, it's their next life. One in which they could accomplish some of the things they always wanted and also a chance to improve themselves. This was a reality created for them to redeem themselves and wake up spiritually at the same time and then meet again. If you believe in reincarnation then it's easier to understand. Because this reality we're in is also another one of our lives and we came here to learn, so did they. This story is much deeper than it seems that's why it will always be on its own category 😃😃😃
Liz is a fuggin queen okay. But when he said "your mom" i fuckin squeled like a child because THEY DIIIID ITTT (also James walking past had me messed up jfc)
"In fact, I'm very curious to meet this mysterious sister you never mentioned the entire time we were married." "Well, i'm sure you are going to love her, she's extremely pregnant." That line makes me laugh, she knows how to throw shade. And Jack just threw it right back at her. But it's also ironic, because on the island you know Juliet had to have known about them being siblings from Jack's very detailed file.
@xpledgeturnprestigex To get through the issues he had with his own father. People with the biggest daddy issues worry what kind of father/mother they would be. He also had the kid with Juliet to honour that relationship they had.
Aww i got goosebumps when he said Aunt Claire :) I love the anything 2 do with Claire. She's awesome! Her + Charlie had the best relationship + I love the half-sibling storyline x
no, it wasnt...neither was the kid. it was a way for them to remember each other in their afterlife so that they can all meet with each other at the end.
omg i just ADORE these 3. lol cutest family thing ever. altho jack and juliet were super cute here im releaved they were divorced cuz i LOVE juliet and sawyer ♥
So this is the one thing I still can't get a grip on. In real life Jack Never had a son, so why did they just fabricate one in the purgatory life? Was that really necessary?
He had a son because his wanted to prove to his father he haves what it takes. So he's showing to his kid that he's good. It's a fantasy to solve his daddy issues
I do not understand that part. Jack was married to Juliet and had a son? When? That was real or not? Anyway, thanks for the scene in the back of the lovely Elizabeth Mitchell. Perfect. Wonderful eyes, I love you!

You know I bet the kid we see in the flash sideways could be Sawyers kid. Locke said Jack didn't have a son and whose to say the kid can't be Sawyer's "what if" child had Juliet not died.
@@peterwestenthaler7954Yes you're right, in the island world juliet was not pregnant. There s he is dead, so she cannot be recognized in the sideways, because sideway lifes and island lifes excludes each other. We can not have both, that's illogical.
Yep at 0:35 she says "The entire time we were married". Plus the Sawyer/Juliet make out at the end of the day clearly states that Juliet is single at that moment. Well I hope so, or she doesn't care much about the poor guy xD. xD
the flash sideways are only' real,' if they weren't on the island before. So it's impossible, that they had any flashbacks based on island life . They would not recognize each other in this sideway- world. And if you take the island experiences as real, the sideways were not possible. We cannot have both worlds together. So I think, these sideway afterlife thing is a dream, wish, imagination only for Jack as maincharacter number one: it shows the possibilities he would have. Jack had no recognizing scene in the sideway world. For ex: sayid in the sideway world would met nadja not shannon and he 's a killer like before. Sayid in the island world could meet shannon ( perhaps nadja too). The same thing with Kate, in the sideway world she had not developed, she's still on the run, that means +/_ =0. Her character is only decisive, if she lived in the island world and survived two times. Sawyer would not know juliet or kate or jack and so on. Perhaps he would meet Cassidy or his parents. In the island world his parents were already dead and juliet died, so he can only meet with people who survived ( Claire, Kate, Miles..., Cassidy and his daughter)
For all those asking why Jack had a son. This is how i interpret it....

Yeah and I think David also represents Juliet's own desire to have a loving family while she was still alive.
Right
Also Sayid helped Nadia’s husband because he blamed himself for her death. Ben helped Alex with her Yale application for the same reason

I find it so funny that in season 3 Ben told Jack that he chose Juliet to be his liaison while holding Jack prisoner because she resembled his ex-wife, and now here she actually is his ex-wife.
