XHDATA D-219: Now Even Better (for us in North America)

  • A look at the new, North American version of XHDATA's outstanding D-219 AM/FM/SW receiver. Already a budget powerhouse on FM and shortwave, the change from 9kz to 10khz tuning on AM (medium wave) means--for those of us in North America--that this radio now shines on AM, too!
Purchase it for (about) $13, shipped from the US, and get this fine radio in a few days.
Note: the red background used here I usually reserve for pencil or book reviews; I generally avoid it for radios. I do so because the red background is todderbert's signature look ("Radio Waves" on RUclips) and I don't wish to disrespect him, as I consider his videos the Gold Standard in radio reviews.
    Purchase here:
    xhdata.com.cn/...
(The price seems to have recently increased a bit, but it's still under $15.)

This radio is $8.78 at Amazon and I could not resist ordering one. It arrived today and I’m happy. It’s not much bigger than the old Radio Shack AM/FM pocket radio I have been using at work, but it performs much, much better on AM and FM, and it adds SW, which actually works surprisingly well. What an amazing value!

People have forgotten the value of a battery powered radio. In an emergency, these little radios will keep you informed and entrained. Battery draw is very low for these radios, so they will last a very long time on a fresh pair of batteries. Everyone (specially today) should have a few of these in their prep kit.

I am steering away from the Chinese designed radios especially after my last purchase of a Degen DE28. It crashes and also went to the Chinese default like yours did. I was able to get it back to English by lucky trial and error. I can give you the keystrokes to get it back if you have not already been able to do so already.

And it does not even require that external wire antenna ,,, its own telescopic antenna is good enough to receive all the SW transmissions. I am 58 years old and have always been a radio buff and have manyvradios . My oldest radio is a 4 band MW ( AM) / SW1/ SW2/ SW3/SW4 with fine tuning, volume AND TONE controlling knobs. It has a DIN female socket for playing ceramic cartridge record players and also tape recorders. My late Dad bought this radio in the year 1975 and it still is alive !!!. Back in the days we never used those wired external antennas . Am from India.

The XHDATA D-219 does NOT charge batteries. The DC input jack is for powering the radio from a wall-wart. The D-219 is pretty good on AA batteries. I've had a D-219 for a few months and it's still working off the first set of AA's, although I don't use it every night.

Thanks for posting the vid. I got a D-219, wasn't aware there were different MW versions. Mine is the 10 kHz model, going up to 1710. I think the D-219 is great on MW, decent on FM and SW. Sometimes clipping maybe 10 feet of wire to the whip will help bring in more SW stations.
