So yeah, if i went from 3 to 6 I'd probably have a blast, but for those who've played the last few entries are going to be very disappointed. Janet has never played any of them, so again 6 will seem new and original to her. My summary is, if you've not played any far cry games or haven't played any since 3 maybe pick 6 up. If you have played 4, primal, 5, new dawn then give this a miss as it offers nothing new.

Never played Far Cry before, might pick this one up, not sure if it is the setting or some of the ‘fun silliness’ I have seen in it but sounds like a good time. A game for some light escapism after a hard days work!
I loved Far Cry 5 best villain/antagonist so far ( haven't played 6 yet) but to the people complaining bit feels samey, and repetitive. All of these game are like that. That is a core component of them the most important thing is do you find it enjoyable. It's essentially all fetch quest Fallout, ghost recon, far cry, spider-man, etc all fetch questy but did you have fun doing them?

The last Just Cause (4) had some interesting bilingual elements to it Greg. All the songs on the radio for the last two games I believe have all been in the language spoken by that country. It is a really cool element to those games!

Far Cry 3 was so mind blowing. I remember spending so many hours in that game. This just seems more of that again unfortunately. I was hoping they would move the series forward. Wait for sale for me.

I personally completely disagree with Greg's mindset. It just excuses lazy developers. Every game of a franchise should improve on core aspects that made the first game popular. This is not the case with FarCry, unfortunately. FarCry has been stagnating on every front since FC3. Changing the setting to something supernatural with werewolves or vampires would not change anything. The problems of this franchise are not the settings, but the gameplay loop, the same super villains with forced charisma, the lacking story and so on. Assassin's Creed had a similar issue, but the developers actually recognized the diminishing interest and rebooted it... and even that franchise has started to feel tired and repetitive again (after 3 games). A perfect example of a franchise that has evolved, while still keeping many core aspects intact, is the Souls series. DS1 had amazing level design, enemy design, interesting lore and challenging difficulty. Play DS3 right after DS1 and you will feel a huge difference in gameplay, which has been vastly improved, better enemy design, more interesting lore and so on. The series has improved on various way (even though the level design in DS1 is still best in class imo). I don't want the same game in a new coat of paint. I want to feel and see a steady evolution of a franchise without losing what makes it so fun. Unfortunately, Ubisoft is just unable to provide that with any of their franchises. Instead of going better and smarter, they prefer going bigger and vaster (while being unable to fill the space they create)
@Turtle Club I don't need to. I've seen all the "changes", which don't change anything to the gameplay and are mostly surface level (coat of paint!). Literally every other review says the same: It's like FC3, 4 and 5 with minor changes and it gets tiresome. KindaFunny is all about positivity, so even bad or average games will get a rave review by at least one member of the group. I miss someone like Imran, who was a lot more critical in general.
I think I would like Far Cry games so much more if they would just lean into the story they try and tell, which are compelling bad guys and super serious. Then you get in the game and it's just Just Cause intercut with these hard boiled moments and it completely ruins any engagement I had. I want Far Cry 2 again, basically.
I was born and raised in Puerto Rico and we have a lot of similar things in culture and language and for me it really speaks my fiance hears me talk like that every single day so for me it was super natural the Spanish
This kinda feels like Kinda Funny talking about AC Odyssey again. Not having played the previous game in the series, they're praising new aspects that were there in the previous game. All well and good, though. I'm sure I'll enjoy this more than the overpraised Odyssey.
My favourite Far Cry was FC2. I also enjoyed The heck out of Primal and FC4. This one looks nice and grungy, which appeals. Also horses. Also tanks. Good to hear you can ignore the ammo types. I’m not a fan of that particular change. I like Far Cry gameplays immediacy and simplicity. Thanks. Great discussion.
FC2 needs more love, would love for that to get the remaster treatment. Really miss how immersive that game was with hud elements being contextual like physically pulling out the map and compass and honestly i liked the oh no moments when your gun jammed and you had to scramble to adapt to the enemies pouncing on you

I’ve now read and watched a few reviews for this game and honestly it is one of the few glowingly positive reviews I’ve seen. It’s at 76 on Metacritic, which isn’t great and probably goes down from there as more reviews come in. Having played and finished Far Cry 2-4 and Blood Dragon. The promotion for this game has looked as meh as anything I’ve seen. Greg’s excitement has been confusing and it’s clear that he’s on a completely different wavelength from the reality of what this game is. And that’s even before you factor in all the shit that comes with a Ubisoft game. A few weeks ago he was talking about Guardians of the Galaxy and how he enjoyed it but he wasn’t hungry to play more right away, like Far Cry 6. Everything he said about GoG and FC6, made GoG sound like a much more interesting game. This is a hard pass from me, even if the publisher wasn’t complete garbage like they are.
So you're right that mechanics are always the same but variety can come from level design, story, objectives, and more. I would say with Far Cry many of the general layouts and tasks are the same. I will say mechanics can also evolve tho in a game. We recently reviewed Kena and there the different abilities you get during the game help create that variety.
If you dont support their current consumerism strategy, they will be forced to deliver better games. It doesn't take much to see that all the games have the same grindy, bitch-quest formula.

Giancarlo is a huge selling point for me with this game but i think i’m gonna wait on it , kinda messed up with watch dogs and AC when they released

Heard 6 has bugs that stop mission progression, ai dumb and fires randomly start . Also swapping your gear is cumbersome
