    Loved the video. You should definitely check out the audiobooks. Peter Kenny does an amazing job with all the voices, it’s like listening to a movie. Most of the audiobooks are easy to find on youtube (: Looking forward to the next review! 🙏🏼😄

      I wish you would know polish language. In poland we have audiobooks with all characters is different profesional actor and with ambient sounds and phenomenal music.Unfortunetly, studio that created this went bankrupt in 2018 and they did not end the saga(Tower of the Swallow and Lady of the Lake are not avaible to be precise).

    I love the Witcher books and while other readers liked the novel more, I preferred Sword of Destiny and the Last Wish are the best one. I loved "A little Sacrifice" the most, God that was a masterpiece.

      @@CDallas funny It's my least favourite, mayby because I am so big fan of Geralt-Yen relationship. From sword of destiny I love Something more, especially ending. With dubbing this is so fire. I always get chills and shed a tear.

      @@GM-gb1eu Uhmm, I don't want to be a swayer, but I can't believe that I've ignored the only short story that I've made a video about LMAO. Proof:
      ruclips.net/video/nsPjVWvv5Is/видео.html
      Let me rank them : 1- Something More.(Interactions with Ciri and Visenna) 2- Sword of Destiny(So fucking good and I can't believe they got rid of it in the show) 3- A little Sacrifice (Best standalone story) 4- Bound of Reason (Yen and Geralt + Geralt naive stance about life and neutrality) 5- Eternal Flame (Simply because I hate "A Shard of Ice", the story isn't bad but it's nothing special) 6- A Shard of Ice (I hate everything about it beside the symbolism, I hate everything Yen does although it aligns with her egoistical yet broken self esteem, don't get me wrong, I hate the story, as for the buildup, character's moralities, insecurities, romance, reactions and interactions, along with the symbolism and how it later played into our knowledge about their relation, it was pretty crucial)
      I think that whoever reads those two books with no no prior knowledge of the Witcher, would never guess how the books turn out to be, nobody would predict the brutality and darkness the novels are, and how little the books expand on the world. In other words, after I read the books, I was left with regret and angriness, because the world of the Witcher could've been literal 50 books, the world is very huge and in 7 books we only have a glimpse of what it could've been.

      @@CDallas Yeah, more books of Sapkowski witcher, the better. I think my tier list would be simillar, apart of little sacrifice would be at 5-6 place with eternal fire. For me it's nothing special. I am also so angry that wokeflix completely deleted Sword of destiny shortstory and created subplot with black amazonians (they are not driads for me) for "diversity" sake. It is sad for me how they butchered Witcher, because I am from Poland and for me it's not "another nice fantasy universe". For me it's something more, something that I can be proud from my country which is not used much in world-wide culture.

    Great review! I just read The Last Wish last month on vacation and had the exact same complaint as you had...I kept forgetting who the characters were in those two stories. (I've noticed now having read 2.5 of these books now that part of that is how the dialogue is written. There are very few instances where it clearly lays out who's talking. Instead its written almost like a script only without indicators for who's speaking).
    But yeah, I totally expected for me to think this was like a 3/5 book...basically average. Instead I was floored by how much i enjoyed it because while I do like reading, I usually avoid short stories! But these were SO well executed and purposeful...and there was just such a strong thematic message with each of them that I just couldn't resist immediately starting the second one right when I was done! (And I never read sequels immediately after reading the prior book). 5/5 for me!

      Thanks a lot! It's interesting to hear from someone who actually has experience with books. I find it particularly interesting that you usually don't enjoy short stories and yet you enjoyed this. Can't say I am surprised though, it was just sooo good!
      I also think the format worked really well to gradually introduce us to the world, even if you get confused or overwhelmed by some of the things, you know you'll be starting fresh with a new story soon so you don't really feel like you are lost for the rest of the book at least.
      I have not been reading a lot recently so I'm only half way through the second book but it has been phenomenal so far! I'm excited to read more!

      @@muskeys I will admit my experience with the books is basically one month, hahaha. I did read Blood of Elves 2 years ago but didn't jive with it and forgot it. But now I'm blowing through Sword of Destiny and am excited to re-read Blood of Elves.
      You are absolutely right about how they gradually introduce the world (though we're probably at an advantage having been exposed to the game and tv show). But yeah, it doesnt overwhelm you with information, it just focuses each story on a certain element and they all coalesce to create the world.(It's really well done.
      I think I prefer Last Wish so far over Sword of Destiny but that might just be because I found the Dragon story to open things up a bit confusing (the character confusion thing again). Because the other 3 stories I've read are top notch!

      @muskeys  Год назад +1

      I did not enjoy it as much as the other stories but I still thought it was interesting and I'm happy it was there! More worldbuilding and setting up some of the spiritual stuff was cool. The ending was also nice haha! Did you enjoy the last wish or sword of destiny more?

    • @Smoked_Cheddar
      @Smoked_Cheddar Год назад +1

      @@muskeys both are very good. Sword of Destiny sets up the rest of the saga. Last Wish is a great introduction. I prefer Last Wish if I want a short read. Deeper stories are in Sword of Destiny. I think the funniest short story is in Sword of Destiny.
      But I think I could always pick up "The Last Wish".

      Yes! I expect to be done with the 2nd book in a week or two and then I will start working on the video. I don't think it will be a super in-depth review but my intention is definitely to at least make a short video to share my thoughts! I plan to do at least 1 video per book.

      @@muskeys that’s awesome! I really like watching reviews of the series and yours is actually one of if not the best I’ve seen. So many other booktubers are pretentious and you’re the opposite. But yeah I actually enjoyed sword of destiny more than the last wish, and I absolutely loved last wish! Sword of destiny and time of contempt are my two favorites in the series. I’m ngl it will be a bit jarring going from sword of destiny to blood of elves as blood of elves is the start of the continuous novel series; no more short story format. Just a heads up if you were not aware of the structure 👍

      Yes, I am aware that Blood of Elves is the start of the continuous story and I am looking forward to it.
      My girlfriend is actually currently reading Time of Contempt and she is having a great time. She got me excited for it haha!
      I'm probably going to miss the short stories but I expect the new format to be enjoyable as well!
