A tiny bit of history that may put things in perspective regarding Tivoli Gardens. The lake in Tivoli Gardens is actually a leftover from the moat that encircled the medieval part of Copenhagen. The fortification around the old part of Copenhagen was intact up to just after 1853 after which is was slowly broken down with the city expanding outwards. Other parts of the original moat can be found in the H.C Ørsted Park, Botanic Garden, Østre Anlæg Park and running around on the outer part of the free town Christiania. While Tivoli Gardens is the 2nd oldest amusement park in the world from 1843, the oldest amusement park is actually north of Copenhagen named Bakken that opened in 1583.
That’s very informative thank you so much! I had no idea that the Tivoli Lake was a pet of that fortification, but it totally makes sense given how huge it must have been back then. I’ve definitely seen some other parts of the moat too, both in the Botanic Garden and Christiana. I hope you liked the video!
Actually I did bring it, got some footage then got yelled at by an employee and they made me delete the footage in front of them… it’s such a shame cuz the action shots were great
Tivoli Gardens! For an amusement park it seemed strangely peaceful. And you made some friends giving up your right to the front seat on the roller coaster. I wonder what would have happened if you refused.
It’s a very nice place and you’re totally right it is more peaceful than one might expect. I think the emphasis is less on the rides and more on the magical, fantasy atmosphere, which personally I’m a big fan of
Thank you for shearing stay positive all the time 🙏
Thank you! I do my best to stay positive even through tough situations like losing my bag! I’m glad to say I have it back now though!
Thx for sharing! Hope one day I will be there
You should definitely try and visit! Copenhagen is a wonderful city, lots to see and do

Imagine if they let you bring the GoPro on the swing ride and you dropped it. Ultimate action shot!

It could have killed someone if it was dropped.
