24:44 Most people think so! There were significant cuts in winter Efteling after the lockdowns, so there used to be much more decoration in the park. There was also a beautiful indoor ice rink with a beautiful facade of a palace built into it! and projection shows were shown on various facades of attractions. Furthermore, there were also more shows and campfires on the squares throughout the park.
Fun fact about Danse Macabre: the ghost conductor was actually an original idea of Ton van de Ven (creator of the Spookslot, which was replaced by Danse Macabre) that never made it into the original attraction, so to see him woven so seamlessly into the Danse Macabre story is amazing!
Back in 1978 the technology was not yet available, but now they were able to create a new iteration that is closer to what the original designers had in mind. I am looking forward to see it for myself.
Funny that you say that the entrance fee is not that high. Here in the Netherlands a lot of people are complaining that Efteling keeps raising the entrance fee. We actually think it's expensive hahaha. And winter Efteling is not a thing about Christmas. Winter Efteling lasts until early Februari I believe. It's just a Winter themed thing.
By the way, it is not a Christmas event 25:10 but more of a winter event. Here in the Netherlands we also celebrate other holidays such as the Saint Nicholas feast. is very similar to what you know as Santa Claus, except that Saint Nicholas does not come around Christmas but 2 weeks before December 5, then we celebrate Saint Nicholas Eve and he leaves again on December 6. In the Efteling, Sint-Nicolaas even has its own square close to Dream Flight.
Max is the best track, that stupid dive turn is great. As for the food; Efteling has lots of great options like Avocado grilled sandwiches with goat cheese at Gelaarsde Kat (my personal favorite) and during Winter Efteling there are many winter specials! I could probably give people a tour of just the food options haha. Danse Macabre was actually designed in-house and they went to several manufacturers to see who was willing to actually build the system, with Intamin being the one to build it in the end :) Winter Efteling is also not a christmas event, so it runs untill 2 February! And the section you where at where you bought the Spirello is not the Winter Efteling area, that is behind Sirocco. Seems like you entered the Fairy tale Forest halfway through with the gate at longneck. The proper entrance is at the Steam Carrousel, that way you can catch every single fairy tale! Ducks are not cold! They, along with many other water-birds like Geese and swans, have a type of antifreeze in their blood!
Thank you for visiting! May i reccomend Toverland? Its in the south of the netherlands. And openend only in 2001 and has grown massively! It has amazing coasters and the best halloween event in the netherlands (in my opinion)
jorge and the dragon has been completly retracked a year or so ago and has have some titan track added. It was amazing and great coaster but it was wobbling too much so they added new crossmembers. And they replaced the top timbers for ironwood and renew the metal and added metal titantrack in one corner thats really shaky. The flying dutchman has different settings in summer the splash track is deeper in the water and in winter its much higher. So you get a splash but dont get soaked and get cold. Dreamflight is an amazing ride they have done some fixes to it mostly the lights and decor. In symbolica the fabelfish had a long time a trouble with going down and up and moving so they have been fixing that and cut a hole in the roof and added a hatch so they can get at it if it causes problems. Efteling is working big time on making the rides better and fix the problems there are. They even rebuild some fairytales due to problems.atm next on the list is fata morgana its old and breaking slowly down so they are looking into what to do for its future. Dance macabre is using a new ridesystem thats nowhere else in the world first of its kind. Villa volta also was a new ride and a first one for the world.
you guys are making one mistake ^^, its not a xmas even its the winter event. just keep it neutral across the board. during actual events (like old years eve) its actually much more dressed up to that style. but great that you liked the park so much ^^.
Nice vlog ! Efteling opened in 1952, the first Disney park opened in 1955 making Efteling one of the oldest themeparks in the world. A lot of people think Efteling first opened as Fairytale forest but it actually was a main football field with two practice football fields and a playground way back then. Efteling is not owned by a big corporation like Disney. Efteling is part of a foundation that focusses on theming and keeping the park authentic. That is why prices of Efteling entrance, food and merchandise are lower than Disney parks. Because Efteling is one of the oldest themeparks in the world other themeparks that were built later took inspiration from Efteling. One example is the first ever built madhouse called Villa Volta which was built in Efteling. Other themeparks copied the idea of a madhouse making them arguably better. Also the idea of talking trash bins has been copied. Now some Dutch people will say Walt Disney took inspiration from Efteling since Efteling opened in 1952, 3 years before the first Disney park opened in 1955. There is a RUclips of video of Walt Disney visiting The Netherlands for business. He visited in 1951 which was the year Efteling finished built the Fairytale forest. Back then something like a Fairytale forest was big news in The Netherlands so people could have told Walt Disney about Efteling since he also handled in fantasy characters. He did do business a 30 minutes drive from Efteling but no one knows for sure if Walt visited Efteling. Efteling keeps closer to the original fairytales and doesnt sugarcoat them like Disney does. That is why a lot of Americans dont know the darker version of the original fairytales. Like the story of the wolf that ate all the children goats and then they cut open the wolf stomach to get the goats out. After they put stones in the wolf's stomach and through him in the river. Americans that visit Efteling think that is rather horrible fairytale to tell kids. What they dont know is this fairytale teaches about stranger danger. Most children like the darker fairytales the most anyway. The countless times I was asked by to tell the dark story of the witch and Hansel and Gretel ! Efteling is the second most visited themepark in Europe, Disneyland Paris is the third most visited and Europapark is the first most visited themepark in Europe. I dont know for sure but it seems you missed the madhouse Villa Volta and dark ride Fata Morgana.
Thanks for the comment! We did miss those as Villa Volta will most likely trigger my motion sickness and Fata Morgana is closed for renovations at the moment. We got to ride Fata Morgana on our first trip in march this year though!
@@The_Dave_Train It’s pretty unpredictable in March to be completely honest with you. We lucked out and had a lovely sunny day but the next day they had rain that lasted the whole week. I’d just say keep an eye on the weather apps and pack for all possibilities
Hi! Dutch person here, March can be very difficult to plan considering the weather. We sometimes have snow and heavy rain until April. So it can be really nice out, or it rains a lot. We have a dutch site called Buienrader which tracks the dutch weather closely, you can use it during your visit! Either way I hope you have a great stay at Efteling! We dutchies are so proud of it. ❤
I am going on a vacation next year and I am going to Florida . Of course to universal studios I am so hyped I can’t wait. Greetings from the Netherlands 🇳🇱
You guys missed the entire Winter Garden, the designated spot for Winter Efteling stuff with exclusive foods, shows and a iceskating rig… 😅 It’s near Vogel Rok.
@@MelRay373 we didn’t, there’s footage from that area in this vlog. We just found it a little underwhelming and didn’t want to have a huge camera out when there’s loads of kids and families enjoying their day 😊

Nice review of the park. New subcriber here. Personally I do not like the food at Toko Pagode. The way they prepare the food and put it in the Microwave is what I do not like about it. Have you tried the Pancake restaurant Polles Keuken?
@@aut1976 we were going to go there for lunch but we ended up deciding not to. However we’ve heard good things! We’ll definitely try it on our next visit. Thanks for watching!
