Check it out: ruclips.net/video/nAhzpywwmos/видео.html Also few people have asked about the "Tall Person Headrest" so I thought I would pin this here for you guys. Being honest - The headrest I used is great (links to it and everything I used in the description) but I could definitely have implement it a bit more cleanly as the metal spacers would look better if I painted them black and are quite long (though they have to be long enough to compensate for the curve on the back of the new headrest). Nevertheless, it does work extremely well and is super strong. Essentially: - Drill into the new headrest where the bolt placement for the seats original headrest is. - File a small angle on one side of the metal spacer to help compensate for the curve on the back of the new headrest - Put metal spacer through longer bolts (flat side facing the bolt head and angled side you filed in the prior step closest to end of bolt) - Add rubber washer (the rubber washer will help compensate for the curve on the back of the new headrest as the angle you file in the metal spacer won't be perfect) - Put this through the holes you drilled and screw into seat. - Job done.

After seeing this amazing chair I decided to buy one. Once I put the chair together and tried it out it was amazing, I don’t think I’ve ever sat in a better chair for it’s price. However given that I’m 6’, the headrest like he mentioned in the video, is not nearly tall enough so I ordered the headrest he recommended as well. An issue I was wary of before I ordered the headrest was the distance between the two screw holes to mount it on the back of the chair and what do you know I was right to worry. I see your point, but my Secret Labs chair is the best chair I've ever owned. Going on 2 years and its held up remarkably well and the comfort is phenomenal. I've owned several chairs over the years and all have failed to last more than 1 year in terms of comfort and support. The padding gets too soft and you start having the frame digging into your butt. Ultimately, it is what works for you! The chair you're recommending looks like a good bargain and seems well built. Would be interesting to see a follow up in a years time

I was looking for a gaming chair lately and stumbled across this helpful video. I did additional research and many people were saying that gaming chairs lacked proper lumbar support, etc. I also didn't want a situation where the PU leather starts peeling a few months after purchase, or if the cushion wears out. I decided to take a leap of faith and purchased this chair instead. I must say it is very comfortable and the headrest is perfect for me (5'10). It is very breathable and easy to assemble. Great video dood! I can get this for about $160 with $80 off during their July sale, making it almost what you paid (one poster got it at $100) before inflation. I have bad nerve impingement issues and what I liked about testing it was the lumbar support, armrest feel, and overall adjustments. Hoping for the best.
Just received it today and the lombard support is killing my lower back. Its hard and narrow, while the rest of the chair isn't, so it feels like all your weight is being supported there. I've tried every position and nothing feels right. I hope it gets better after a few days, otherwise I'll definitely send it back. I'm 5'7 so I'm definitely not too tall or anything.
I’ve had this chair for years and I swear I had the opposite experience, sitting in this chair for several hours caused me back pain and after standing up your legs want to give up. I thankfully changed my chair to a GT-RACING Ace Beige Fabric chair but warning, their Pro Series lack cushion and durability so I would recommend their Ace Series or Luxury Series as they’re the best they have and have great build quality that is almost on par with Secret Lab or DXRACER. Try to get their fabric chairs since they regulate temperature better and are more durable (warning: these sell out quick!)
I really appreciate the well thought out video regarding a seemingly bland topic. However, I have been looking for budget chairs for long term sitting for a while - thanks for making my purchase a lot easier. I hop you get a cut from this amazon link - you deserve it. Sleep well.
Does it still hold up after a year? I'm kinda looking for something that won't cause the seat to sag after a while since I spend a long time sitting at my desk. lol I'm already tired of using cushions for my behind. XD
Just bought a chair from Staples based on this video as I was using a barbers pedestal chair (hate gaming chairs) and most ergonomic chairs are extremely expensive. Got it for £135 with a coupon. Liked and subscribed...:)
I'm 6'2, around 240lbs. Gaming/office chairs never fit me (headrest? Yes, it's always been a neck rest). And they only last about a year before the cushion is flat, and the piston slowly sets itself to the bottom. All of them. I've been apprehensive of replacing the piston, because I don't trust the replacement will just be junk like the one it replaces. Plus, the vinyl is cracking and/or peeling by then anyway. I watched the GN review you spoke of. Between that, and your video, I have decided to try this chair, and the custom headrest that I didn't even think of as an option. Thanks!
I've had this EXACT chair for years. It's worked wonderful for me and I got it for under $100 new. I'm on the shorter side so no problems with the headrest. It's basic but functional and does all the things I want it to do while lasting.
I have had one of these chairs for over 5 years and honestly worth it. it has served me very well. the sealing gasket on the lift recently has started to fail but it took five years of hours of daily use for this to happen so i def recommend
Currently in the process of building a PC, a chair is the last thing I’m purchasing and I’ve been looking all over for the perfect chair. Kinda hard for my to justify dropping almost 400 dollars on a “gaming” chair when that could be going towards my GPU.. this is perfect, thank you!
I know this video is 18 months old at this point, but worth pointing out that for taller people, Staples has the Dexley nowadays specifically for that audience. Great video by the way, your video + Techlead's chair review video has me just about ready to buy a Hyken, just going to visit a Staples tomorrow to give them a test ride first.
Just bought one. It was $340CAD (tax included). It's pretty adjustable when you're setting it up and it fits me perfectly (5'9"). The armrests are low enough that it can slide under my desk fine while my feet are planted on the ground. Impressive. And if anyone else has an FR-S, yes, the box will fit even with a passenger! You will lose rear visibility however so be careful driving.
I am 5' 11 (180cm), an average sized guy and have purchased this chair a couple months back after seeing this review. Here are my thoughts: He is on point with his review besides one thing (that honestly may be a deal breaker). The chairs seat width is NOT wide enough! There are what looks to be arm rest mounting brackets along the underside of the seat edge that your thighs will rest on and while the mesh is very comfortable, resting your thighs on those mounts underneath the mesh IS NOT! Conclusion: No chair is perfect and for the price I highly recommend this one but PLEASE get the headrest like he suggests and consider measuring the width of your thighs compared to what they list for the chair!
I can't seem to put the wheels on, there's a ring in it though, do I have to take it out?? It's not going in.. EDIT: Nvm, I got it to go in lol. Anyways, amazing assembly, I used it to put mines together. 😁👍
I bought a Hyken about 6 months ago. I already had another chair from Staples (Carder) and a high-end chair that I got from a previous employer. What I don't like about the Hyken is the pressure it puts on the back of my leg above the knee and the "stickiness" of the Hyken mesh. I've returned to the cheaper Carder despite the fact that it needs more supportive base foam. It's still a better chair, if not as pretty, for my daily work.
1st time on your channel and I was impressed by your candor and thoroughness and tips you gave, great job unlike the other sites reviewing chairs that you think who paid them for their reviews since when you hit the retail site all the one star reviews prove they are full of shit or didn't do a thing and just posted the sellers marketing as a review. Now my personal review of a Lazy Boy Executive office chair "must hate that executive to give them a chair like this one I bought. Buyer beware, bought a few years back an executive office hair from staples. I leaned back in it and heard a pop sound and forgot about it. I heard it again 2 days later and I realized it was under the chair making the noise. I flipped the chair onto its front and noted that 2 bolts holding the base mount to the chair bottom were hanging. This marked down Lazy Boy chair I was shocked to find was crappier than the $100 one I bought at BJ's warehouse. The seat was a piece of 3/8ths plywood with inserts to hold the weight of the person to the base structure even reclined. I went online to complain and no one from Staple or Lazy Boy even returned my emails. I ended up spending $12 on bolts washers and nuts a Lowes and the thing works now. My perspective on Lazy Boy are cheap bastards but their recliners are cheap also with the leg rests mechanisms not working or detaching after a year or so. I think our entire US corporate attitude is shit on quality and more worried about resales but who buys trash again or doesn't warn everyone they know that this or that company produce landfill fill.
Looks so good I just paid $235.60 for a used, "like-new", one on Amazon. This is because Staples does not serve Hawai'i so the price is worth it. I'm replacing a ten year old Herman Miller Setu, that used to treat me well but no longer feels good to me.
Ordered the chair, extended head rest, and some roller blade wheels. Did you just drill into the plastic frame to bolt the extended headrest to the chair? I didn't see the bit about extra spacers and extra long bolts, so I expected the headrest to bolt into the default pattern given it's the same headrest on a riser. Trying to figure out if simply drilling into the plastic frame will have enough support for it, since the original has embedded metal anchors for the bolts.
I have had a DXRacer Tank for years, and I am happy with it. Arm rests are great, no sweating, no wear and tear, padding on the seat is fine. Anyone who buys a leather variant is asking for issues with heat and wear and tear on the material. If you're sitting in a chair for longer than an hour or two, always go with mesh variants. Also with any chair, its terrible to lean forward, but bucket seats make that worse, because you're not only still putting strain on your back, but now you're putting strain on your leg joints, specifically the head of the femur, so that is the only downside I can think of: if you already sit terribly, the bucket seat makes it feel worse.
i bought a very nice executive chair that was perfect for my height and i can spend long hours in it without discomfort. i have yet to find a gaming chair that didn't feel cheap and was not adequate for my height of 6'4". i would say you are pretty spot on with your assessment
honestly, why does the black and red colored mesh look way thinner than the grey colored mesh? can you confirm if they feel different? the grey is all connected whereas the black is separated into columns it looks like. the black is more see-through. Is there differences in firmness, breathability, durability, etc.?
Hey! I know this video has some days behind it, but I just wanted to say thank you! I was looking for quite some time for a new chair, and knowing throwing gaming on something makes it twice as expensive, with out decent QC or product. I've been sitting in this chair for 3 days now, and I couldn't be happier. The back support is extremely comfortable through the entire lean. I can still get a great upright position for intense games with out feeling pressure on the lower back! For the price (150 on sale) this is a steal. I pulled the trigger on this chair specifically after watching your video. +1
After personally owning a gaming chair all the things you mentioned have happened with mine and came here looking for an alternative to a herman miller thank you I will be buying
The armrests and back also adjust in and out as the slots for the screws indicate, which is a nice feature. And if you flip the headrest U bracket thing, the headrest will sit maybe 4 inches higher, which is great for taller people. I love my Hyken!
I’m 17 and I’ve broken my back in 2 spots so it’s tough to find chairs that I can last over an hour in and my friend has an $800 secret labs gaming chair and it’s the worst thing I’ve ever sat in. “Gaming” chairs are horrible. I’m gonna check this chair out thanks for the good review.
AWESOME VIDEO! Your assembly video saved me hours of reading the small print instructions. My Mrs is quite happy with her chair as well : )) Thanks Bro!
I have this chair at my current place of work, and had it at my previous as well. I am going to be buying it for my home setup as well... It's pretty fantastic.
Haha, one day - and now I'm one step closer because of you 😊 I've started this pretty recently, but I am truly focusing on making the best content I can for you guys and hoping subs will be a byproduct of that 👍 Thanks man!
Just bought this chair from Staples. Their price online was around 250 but I went in store and saw the tag still priced at $160. They were sold out and I was willing to buy the display model if they allowed it. They didn’t, but price matched the $160 and shipped it to their location for pick-up tl;dr : when to staples and they price matched what was in store rather than online. Saved $80
Thank you so much for the in-depth review, including assembly and actual use! You helped me decide to buy it, and it's actually arriving later this evening! Can't wait to use it :)
I would recommend you upgrade the wheels to rollerblade wheels. Way less noisy, nothing gets caught in them, and rolls way smoother. I would also put some black strong epoxy on the sides of the seat where the mesh meets the chair. Sometimes they don't do a good job of stapling the mesh down.
Hey man, i just wanted to let you know that your review of this chair has actually encouraged me to go out and buy one myself. i love it, i had an executive chair that wasnt fitting my form factor - and i also appreciate the tip for the head rest. i think i will also go ahead and get one of those too - last thing - the link to the metal spacers you have given is dead - so are you using a 1/2" length? thats what it looks like to me anyway
I bought one gaming chair and I had pain in my back and shoulders. I was happy because they took it back and gave me an office chair. Now I am good and if you have the money buy this Hyken chair and if no go for an office chair.
I was looking for a good chair for my back. But, when looking at gaming chairs they all look the same and don't look very comfortable. You've convinced me me to get a regular chair. Thanks for the information.
Same here. I'm looking for an ergonomic chair. Where are you from? If you're from US, you can buy one from autonomous if you have budget under $400. You can also check its review and decide to buy it.
Hey, I'm 6'1 but only 60KG, would you reccomend this chair to me to use for semi-competitive gaming, RUclips, homework and maybe even to sit and play guitar on? I was also looking at the Diablo X player 2.0 as it had a honeycomb mesh back whilst still retaining a gaming chair look with 3d armrests as I move my arm a lot when gaming (mouse space of 70x40cm) so I want to make sure my elbow doesn't bang into the armrests :)
When you sat down the mesh gives in to your weight and the underside of your legs behind your knees are resting on the front support of the chair how can that be comfortable for an hour or longer? Very nice video.
I have this chair, it really isn't that good, after an extended period of sitting (3+ hours) my butt kills it is not comfortable, I would not recommend.
Agreed, it feels awful after a couple hours. The curve of the seat cuts off circulation causing my feet to hurt. I'm 26, 5'7" 175lbs for reference. Definitely don't recommend. Currently looking for a replacement
@@NBaeK01 The seat is curved more than any other chair I've sat in. It really tapers off in the back, which causes a lot of weight to be supported by your legs rather than your bottom. I'd assume if you have a big bottom it wouldn't be a problem but I don't lol
So I bought this chair two months ago and it's great but I am a tall guy and the arms are too high for me. I am in a shrugging position all day and it's gets really uncomfortable. Do you have any suggesting for good arm replacements for the Hyken that is good for gaming?
Have you noticed any sagging in the mesh? I've seen some people say it sags after 6 months to a year and that the edge of the seat will dig into your legs
Haven't had either of those issues after a couple years fortunately. I'm about 175lbs / 80kg (think that's probably the important metric for the issue you described)
Just got a hyken, and the major gripes right now are the lumbar support eventually gets lowered as I lean on it so I have to keep pulling it back up, and the headrest has a tendency to bang into over-ear headphones when turning my head. Assembly is also really shoddy- bolts for armrest don't seat flush, wondering if that's just mine? Then there are the huge hanging paper tags that say not to remove that will probably void the return policy if you do.

I have bad nerve impingement issues and what I liked about testing it was the lumbar support, armrest feel, and overall adjustments. Hoping for the best.
Thanks for making a comprehensive review AND installation guide under 7 minutes. awesome.
I've used this chair for over 4 years now and it still works wonders. Wanted to get a new chair but I'm considering getting the same model lol.
I have this chair bro I used it like once but I'm too tall I can sell it to you for a decent price plus I can give you the warranty
I have been watching over 50 chair reviews, you have nailed the info in 6.30 min amazing subbed.
Can you give link please? I really need comfortable chair for 8+ hours...
I just assembled mine in about an hour. The directions are clear and the screws seat tightly. Highly recommended.
I really appreciate the well thought out video regarding a seemingly bland topic. However, I have been looking for budget chairs for long term sitting for a while - thanks for making my purchase a lot easier. I hop you get a cut from this amazon link - you deserve it. Sleep well.
Thank you for the recommendation! I purchased the chair after watching your video and I really enjoy it!
Glad you love it! Hope it serves you well for many years to come 😊👍
Is it still good?
Does it still hold up after a year? I'm kinda looking for something that won't cause the seat to sag after a while since I spend a long time sitting at my desk. lol I'm already tired of using cushions for my behind. XD
Just bought a chair from Staples based on this video as I was using a barbers pedestal chair (hate gaming chairs) and most ergonomic chairs are extremely expensive.
Got it for £135 with a coupon.
Liked and subscribed...:)
thank you!!
bought the chair off your recommendation and my back and neck are 5x better!
How did you get it for under 100 it’s 180 now
@@BlitzKraken I'll sell it to you for 120
@@activis1343 nah corona
Here are my thoughts:
He is on point with his review besides one thing (that honestly may be a deal breaker).
The chairs seat width is NOT wide enough! There are what looks to be arm rest mounting brackets along the underside of the seat edge that your thighs will rest on and while the mesh is very comfortable, resting your thighs on those mounts underneath the mesh IS NOT!
Conclusion:
No chair is perfect and for the price I highly recommend this one but PLEASE get the headrest like he suggests and consider measuring the width of your thighs compared to what they list for the chair!
Thanks for the review. Its really helpful, Does it feels that the seat has lack of cushion?
"Just write gaming on it and there you have a gaming chair"
Its true, this chair is fire and perfect if youre 5' 10" and under
Metric system gang
Thanks a lot man I was looking into buying a gaming chair but since I saw this I now want this chair
I was so hyped for the whole video, until i looked on the checkout and saw $400 shipping costs to the Netherlands ☠️
😵
@XiaoYaoYou heb dat toch niet betaald flapdrol ^^
Would you recommend this for someone that’s over 200lbs?
Also with any chair, its terrible to lean forward, but bucket seats make that worse, because you're not only still putting strain on your back, but now you're putting strain on your leg joints, specifically the head of the femur, so that is the only downside I can think of: if you already sit terribly, the bucket seat makes it feel worse.
just got ordered one after a bunch of video reviews...using a chair bought a garage sale for 5 bucks for about 4 years.cant wait
Hope you love it!
i bought a very nice executive chair that was perfect for my height and i can spend long hours in it without discomfort. i have yet to find a gaming chair that didn't feel cheap and was not adequate for my height of 6'4". i would say you are pretty spot on with your assessment
honestly, why does the black and red colored mesh look way thinner than the grey colored mesh? can you confirm if they feel different? the grey is all connected whereas the black is separated into columns it looks like. the black is more see-through.
I went to staples yesterday and sat in all the chairs and this is the one that stood out to me, which is how i found this video lol.
Bro I've owned this chair for 4 years and never knew you could adjust the lumbar support 😆😆
Where are these in stock in UK ? Great Video also
I have this chair at my current place of work, and had it at my previous as well. I am going to be buying it for my home setup as well... It's pretty fantastic.
I just got a secretlab chair, great so far
Man i watched your vid and I thought you had thousands of subscribers, how come you just have 56.
Subscribed
Haha, one day - and now I'm one step closer because of you 😊 I've started this pretty recently, but I am truly focusing on making the best content I can for you guys and hoping subs will be a byproduct of that 👍
Thanks man!
The chair looks very nice and now I’m planning to get one for myself.
Your wife is so beautiful dude! What a lucky man!
Just bought this chair from Staples.
Their price online was around 250 but I went in store and saw the tag still priced at $160. They were sold out and I was willing to buy the display model if they allowed it. They didn’t, but price matched the $160 and shipped it to their location for pick-up
tl;dr : when to staples and they price matched what was in store rather than online. Saved $80
Thank you so much for the in-depth review, including assembly and actual use! You helped me decide to buy it, and it's actually arriving later this evening! Can't wait to use it :)
Question sir! Do you have it? How was it?
Seems solid. Wish they had a version for tall people. I don't know anything about modifying one.
Bought it for $60 on a returns sale. So psyched. Love the Sharpie trick at the beginning LOL.
I got the chair and the headrest from Amazon but it doesn't fit together howed u get the head rest to fit my headrest the holes are too far apart
Hey man, i just wanted to let you know that your review of this chair has actually encouraged me to go out and buy one myself. i love it, i had an executive chair that wasnt fitting my form factor - and i also appreciate the tip for the head rest. i think i will also go ahead and get one of those too -
last thing - the link to the metal spacers you have given is dead - so are you using a 1/2" length? thats what it looks like to me anyway
I bought one gaming chair and I had pain in my back and shoulders. I was happy because they took it back and gave me an office chair.
Now I am good and if you have the money buy this Hyken chair and if no go for an office chair.
The mesh is more like fabric, as opposed to those rubbery meshes, right? I preffer the latter. How slippery it is?
Have you tried the dexley as well? it's supposed to fit larger people better
Dude this is a great review! I also like the low-key humor
this was a very detailed and informative review thank you!!
Do you know what headrest you bought of Amazon for the chair? Thanks!
I've had one for 6 years. I love it.
How tall are you?
This helped me finally decide what chair to get. Thank you so much
This is making me really happy. My research has led me here so far and this is a great solution. Will it be beat?
Haha, down the research rabbit hole! Hope you find the perfect chair 😊
I have this chair, it really isn't that good, after an extended period of sitting (3+ hours) my butt kills it is not comfortable, I would not recommend.
It's a shame this chair didn't agree with you my friend! I've used mine for 8+ hours and been comfortable.
Agreed, it feels awful after a couple hours. The curve of the seat cuts off circulation causing my feet to hurt. I'm 26, 5'7" 175lbs for reference. Definitely don't recommend. Currently looking for a replacement
@@jordanjsell how did it cut circulation if i may ask? I'm 5'5 and afraid it might do the same for me
@@NBaeK01 The seat is curved more than any other chair I've sat in. It really tapers off in the back, which causes a lot of weight to be supported by your legs rather than your bottom. I'd assume if you have a big bottom it wouldn't be a problem but I don't lol
dont sit, recline levus.co
Couldn’t get this in uk for some reason but I got the Cedric mesh chair and it’s pretty much identical to this & I’m loving it so far!
It's a really good chair, the only problem is the wheels cannot be lock
Omg the receptionist at my job has a hyken chair.... it’s sooooo comfortable. Definitely getting one soon
How would this compare to the autonomous ergo chair 2? Better, worse?
Does it come with the hex key? Or did u use ur own
i have this chair at work lol, i was wondering where they got it. soi looked up chair reviews and this is the first video i clicked on. small world!
So I bought this chair two months ago and it's great but I am a tall guy and the arms are too high for me. I am in a shrugging position all day and it's gets really uncomfortable. Do you have any suggesting for good arm replacements for the Hyken that is good for gaming?
Could you update the description for the headrest? One of the parts' amazon page was removed, and I cant find your comment on how to replace it.
1:35 But... now I just got a gaming chair.
Then there are the huge hanging paper tags that say not to remove that will probably void the return policy if you do.
is the lumbar support really that great?
