+TheRolemodel1337 From what I've read, there's a .50bmg flechette round that fires a DU dart kind of thing, but I'm not sure how common it is, or if you need a special barrel or anything like that. The biggest hindrance would probably be price though.
+terrivel11 Price? Compared to how this type of round used to be built, DU is literally made of trash. Instead of expensive contained storage required for the by-product of enriched uranium, it is forged into ammunition, armor plating, radiation shielding and more.
Limitations are usually imposed per health risk instead, I'd be wary of being downwind from these rounds hitting a hard target as they literally turn to dust and inflict long-term issues by breathing in or digestion.
Pelia Not price for production, price for purchase. It seems like something that, if produced on a larger scale, would be priced much higher than conventional rounds by companies looking to make a profit off of it.
It's one of those things that may be relatively cheap to produce, that you know you can charge obscene amounts for and people would still pay for it.
I suppose I did misspeak a bit however, as that might be a deterrent to most regular people, but for people like Demoranch, where this is there thing, that wouldn't matter, especially since people send them a bunch of stuff anyway.
Certainly, manufacturers would like to have as great of a margin as possible, that much is true. I'm still not sure Demo Ranch would get many of those rounds, as they can be hazardous for people on both sides of the gun. Actually, there was an initiative to ban DU ammunition for this reason, but some NATO countries as well as US did not sign into it.

Fun fact: titanium is softer than steel (only by a small amount) but the reason it is wanted over steel is in the fact it is about 3 times lighter and doesn't rust.

Whatcha really want is a 20mm anti tank rifle. It'll go through 1 inch steel plate like its nothing
Titanium, especially 6Al4V alloy has a higher modulus of elasticity and maintains its strength at much higher temperatures, making it more resistant to penetration, especially by shaped charges and API rounds.
Thanks for all the video's they're fun. I've seen some of yours where you show penetration of different types of rounds against different materials. I just thought it might be a good idea to get an inexpensive depth gauge to show approximate penetration depths.

He may be waiting on one. Since it is larger than a 50 caliber, it is deemed a destructive device(technically a "large bore firearm") by the ATF. If he wants one, that means he not only has to pay the cost of the gun, but an additional $200 for a tax stamp for it. Approval for that tax stamp could take anywhere from a few weeks(not gonna happen) all the way up to a year. From what I have heard, the current wait time is somewhere between 6 and 9 months for approval. If that is the case, he could have decided to purchase one 4 months ago and still be waiting on the ATF to do its thing and either approve or deny the purchase.
