I like the idea of a portable generator. You probably only need it for occasional use on the tractor and if the power goes out you get a 2nd purpose. Simple.

Agreed. A unexpected positives: First the generator gets run more, and that is a good thing. It will likely work when you need it. Being on the tractor, if I need a generator at a remote location on the property, we just drive the tractor over to that location, no lifting. And, the added weight, although small, doesn’t hurt with respect to traction. Along with the tire weights, and chains, anything that helps with traction on a 2WD tractor is a positive.

Cool montage, I have a similar setup, a John Deere 322 with the 47" 2 stages snowblower and a JD cab. luckily, its Yanmar 3 cylinder engine is liquid cool, so I was able to use a coolant type heater. Personally, if I had your tractor setup, I think that I would have installed a 2nd larger alternator on the rear PTO shaft via a custom bracket and coupler and run the electric heater via a 2000W power inverter. That way, only one gas engine would be needed.
I'm sure somebody else must have done something as I described already...
Maybe some search on tractor forum would show some results.
But at least, you've got a heated cab.
    Cheers

Yes, liquid cooled is the way to go for cabin heat. I love your 2nd alternator idea. That’s not something I had thought of. Having said that, my tractor only has a single PTO that is used to engage both the auger (winter) and mower deck (summer). I would need a second independent PTO that would just power the alternator. I like the idea though.
Regarding my design; a few unplanned perks have surfaced in the two years since I made the modification:
      • I think the extra weight of the generator actually helps with traction. I haven’t been stuck in two years.
      • I’m now sporadically using the generator year-round, rather than just the summer, which is good for the generator.
      • I leave the generator on the tractor. When I need power at a remote location, I don’t have to carry it. I just drive the tractor over to it - cool.
Again, thanks for the alternator idea. I’m going to do some reading on that.
      Cheers

@@LifeIsShortDIY No need for an actual rear PTO, just need to connect to the spline shaft coming out of the rear of the transmission. This shaft is always spinning when engine is running. The rear PTO is optional on your tractor, but the shaft is there... and it spins at about 840 RPM at full throttle.
Nonetheless, what you did with your machine is awesome.
      Cheers

Love my 318 with cab. I use a 12v heater to defrost the windows but have only used it 3 maybe 4 times. I installed two led light on top of the cab and a emergency led light because I clean 4 friends drives in out subdivision.

The cab makes all the difference. I have a 22-year-old craftsman lawn tractor with a blower on the front, as well. The craftsman blower is actually better than the one on my 400, but no cab. With the in-car heater in the cab, life is very comfortable. :-)
