For this video the first half has music and the second half is all tractor sounds per your request! Do you like snow plowing? Let us know in the comments!
I’m looking for a 4 ways snow blade for my 430, it seems like impossible. Anyway, I like the sound of the tractor plowing snow better than the music in the background.
Nice 400. I have two. Both Kohler engines were trash. Replaced the one with a front mounted blade with a 23 hp Vanguard. It’s a boss now. Also have a 430 that I mow with. It’ll run all day on that diesel engine. It’s a iron horse.
laughing because I realize there is nothing more satisfying than watching work get done effortlessly with a tractor. 🤠 The more challenging the task the greater the rewards. Ever watch a skid steer with a forestry head on it?
Me neither. But these old garden tractors were some of the best. These new Chinese plastic and stamped steel units are a joke compared to the old ones.
Great video Norman,, thank you love snow pushing snow videos... one thing tho,, i don’t know about the rest of the fellas ,but for me i like listening to the sounds of the machine instead of music,,, i don’t care for it.. just my opinion tho ,, they are your videos ,, do them as you see fit.. bet your loving that John Deere tho,, they are unstoppable work machines ,,, i could bot live without mine...
Thanks for the feedback. I did half and half for this video. The problem is the go pros dont have the best microphones. Maybe next time I'll stick a real audio recorder on my tractor!
That 400 is a beast !! Great camera angles.... always enjoy seeing a notification that you posted new a video. Did I see a sneak preview of upcoming tilling videos this spring?!?!?! Merry Christmas to you and your family 🎅
Beautiful JD 400 Series tractor, cherry condition. Why do these smaller ploughing machines blades move left & right while ploughing snow ? Is it the weight or lack of or design of blade attachment. Otherwise it gets the job done proudly, no one is ashamed owning a JD period. Well done. 🚜👍
Your 400 is my favorite of all. I have the xhance to buy 1 that looks as good as yours with 927 hours on it with mower deck in very good shape for $1900, do you think that is good buy? Owners dad originally iwned it and diesnt believe engine was ever rebuilt but saud he was crazy about maintenance and only used it for mowing.
@@owentimo In my area they typically run from $1500 to upwards of $2500 without a rebuild. Some over $4000 with some attachments. This one has a perfect body and paint, all decals perfect too. New tires too. Only been used to cut grass, never anything else. The cheaper units look bad and need some substantial work.
What model plow do you have? I have a John Deere 112 with a plow and they discontinued the skids for my model but yours is identical what I did do for skids was I used 2" steel swivel casters and they seem to be working perfect just need to keep them greased so they don't freeze up when it's slushy. But I would still like to find factory skids also.
Any more info on the chain clips you run your bungee cord through? I usually string mine around the chain but your looks cleaner and looks like it might work better.
*_@ Green Meanie, search Amazon for tensioners & you should get this same type in the results. I've got 2 sets identical to these- the rubber cord & connectors are built as one unit, easy on/off._*
Could you please give me a good idea of where to get a snow plow for my John Deere 212 garden tractor or even a video of where to get attachments. Thanks. Great video by the way.
Ok. Thank you very much. I greatly appreciate your answering my question. Although not a professional welder ,I can weld rather well. Thanks again. @Nimbus Nimbus
Michael Owens he sure have his own reasons, but l watched a video of a guy testing ag tires vs regular thread tires and the ag tires tend to spin, slip more, the regular tires with chains had better grip. Personally l haven't confirmed this yet. But l will put on the regular tires on my wheel horse this winter for snow plowing
I’m going to check out a JD 400 with plow, snow blower, tiller and deck to buy. It has a B&S 23hp V-Twin with 2800 hours on it. Do you have any tips on what to look for and check before buying it?
That's a weak snow fall. I've plowed 3 feet of wet snow with a Cub Cadet 86 (8 hp). I have a John Deere 318 now. I don't live in MN anymore, but bet it would be a plowing machine.
Hi norman my name is Tyler and I have a question do you stock farmall parts? I have a farmall a I'm looking to restore in the spring and into the summer and I'm price shopping for parts and getting a list around thanks
Not really, his parts are geared toward Kohler and Briggs engines from Lawn / Garden tractors. Steiner is a good source , prices are hit and miss, E-Bay is good as well. There’s got to be Forums for that IH crowd. I love the Cub Cadets
I noticed you're not using shoes. I bought some and then stopped because i felt like i couldnt get down far enough. Is that why you don't use them? do you just replace the wear bar more often?
These have shoes but I have them all the way up. They really are only handy on early snowfalls on gravel so you dont plow up the gravel. I have a paved driveway so I dont have to worry about that
Shoes are to hold blade off soft soil, gravel driveways, No shoes After freeze up cleans much better, Edges are a Consumable part & Do wear out with use.
If you can angle the blade from the driver's seat then do it, you are leaving wind rows all over the place. Every job should be done in a professional manner

Norm, would you prefer a plow or front mount snow blower for snow removal. Just curious on your thoughts

I don’t know what it is about snow removal but I could sit here and watch it for hours
I feel the same way!
From big rotary units on BNSF, a Cat loader or airport snow removal. Yes they are very COOL to watch, your not alone ...
Git er done!

I have a JD430 diesel with the plow and single stage snow thrower... man, it's the best 3,500 I ever spent! Great vid!
I love plowing with my Ford 100 garden tractor, the k241 never fails me
Finally..... a guy that knows there is no such thing as too many chain links. Thumbs up.
I'm not a "Deere guy" but that thing is nice! I'm a little jealous.
Me neither. But these old garden tractors were some of the best. These new Chinese plastic and stamped steel units are a joke compared to the old ones.
Owner of x740 diesel with a plow and I love it!!!!
I have a restored 1975 400. Great machine. Wish I had a snow plow.
You have the tractor and plow set up pretty nice. Merry Christmas and Happy Plowing!!!
Outstanding video! The snow was no match for the JD 400 garden tractor!
Merry Christmas
Love the 400
Merry Christmas Norman and family!
Badass music score for a badass tractor. You inspire me!! 😎

Merry Christmas and happy new year
Love plowing snow with my Cub 108! This year the newly added Cub 149 will have the blade on it. Both have wheel weights and tire chains.
great work as always Norman!
That 400 is a beast !!

Thanks for your comment! Yes you did! The Powermax will be tilling this spring!
Snowplowing is so satisfying and fun until something bends or breaks. I'm currently dead in the water over a hydraulic hose.
JD 400, the beast.😀
Awesome videos! I just ordered a head gasket from you! I am so excited!

Love that machine, and I really would like that hyrdaulic swing on that machine!

Nick Stosz that sounds like a good buy
I little high IMO. at 1500 hrs that Kohler will need to be rebuilt or its going to get ventilated with a thrown rod.

Skid shoes missing from the blade? We still have not had any snow in MD. I cant wait to try my plow and blower on my 400.
Skid shoes are on there. Just set at lowest setting

Curios as to why you didn't put ag tires on this project ? Looks cold out ,but fun.

sweeet!

Did you make the rear suitcase weight attachment or purchase it? I need one for my 400 with blade..

See the rest of our channel for doing big storms!
I.love you videos, some really nice tractors.Do.you also sell them?
What type of plow is that? Have a 400 and can’t seem to find a plow that fits.
How does the snow blower work in the heavy snow?
So what do you do for fun?
Me: watch people plowing snow on youtube.

Looking at a 425 w plow. That's Tractor Porn, right there

No Shoes Cleans, Much less ice on Hilled driveways. Read Comment below 1
💙👍
Would you sell the 400
Never!
Whats better, the 400 or the 322?
Both are great! I like the 400 because of the Kohler Engine.
Run out of drive way start plowing the yard I do the same just to play on my HD
Just bought a JD 400 would love to pick your brain. Maybe FT or Skype call?
For the life of me I cannot figure out what the music has to do with what you're doing.
I would much rather hear the tractor.

FYI- I gave you a thumbs down 👎 too much talking
