My biggest insight was where he said, even if no one read it, he would blog everyday. In the past, I've gotten so caught up in trying to make each blog post polished that I would rarely ship. I've been inspired by Seth's blog lately to publish a new blog daily on something I went through or learned that could help someone else. I've been taking action on this and it I can honestly say I would share something each and everyday even if no one reads it. Thanks Marie :)
Seth is one of the most inspirational figures out there today, and his books and talks have helped me immensely throughout the years and I would recommend his readings for those who need clarity on their journey. Needless to say I got very happy to see him on Marie TV. The funny thing is that last year on a rainy April day I was so stuck in my head in regards to creativity and confused about what direction to take, I decided to email him. After sending him a brief message (I dont know him personally) I go for a walk and when I came back home, I had a response from him, and it was absolutely profound. He had even looked up my website! I'll never forget this as long as I live. I took his suggestion and it was the best thing I could have done at the time. A kind and generous man, and I don't need to email him again (-: Thank you!

Hey Michael. I'm not sure if it works because I haven't tried, but I know RUclips launched a paid service that allows you to save videos for offline viewing now. This might help solve your no reception challenge. Also, I watch RUclips via the chrome iPhone app so I can play them at faster speeds to squeeze more in in less time. would depend on the individual? meaningfully specific is more secure. abstraction is more flexible and more difficult but more fun. then again I do have a problem with focus, but i have never said that to myself, but other people have said it to me, and usually people who are more detail oriented than me.
Wow this one was SO GOOD. Seth is such a gem. My favorite takeaway is to practice flipping my brain so I can assess how I could be wrong about something I'm so sure about. That could widen my perspective on so many things. I'll be working to implement that! Also love the tip on having an "instinct to ship" rather an instinct to polish. It's about acting fast, failing, not taking anything too personally, and learning from the whole process. Thanks Marie!!

He's not the only one to think of that actually. If you look at you tube interviews of Elon Musk...he does a very similar thing. He basically looks at his thinking and questions it, very precisely, instead of taking his assumptoins for granted. Questioning our thoughts is also the basis for Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy...CBT. (Elon is worth watching too, he's a serial entrepreneur but for the all right reasons... like Seth I think, but Elon is an engineer first, and works in tech instead of business).
I love Seth's comment about Free Range Children. I have a 16 year old who started a high school last year in the Miami area with 3,200 other students. It was overwhelming and she spent the first quarter trying to convince her dad and I to put her in homeschooling. She finally gave up. The school offered a curriculum included 36 AP classes, but as I learned more, I realized what a rough environment the school was. Thankfully in that pressure cooker, the lessons she learned was exactly what you mentioned....how to solve problems by failure. (Also, I would add, how to steer clear of people trying to derail her dreams). I wish I had seen this episode before, I would have made a mindful effort to concentrate on "What were the failures today? And what did you learn? Whether she gets accepted into a top school or not, it is so important to raise Problem Solvers in this new world while not discouraging the spirit.
As a teacher for more than 20 years, I love your insights into education. I am sure it's on my epitaph (in a Keep note) that I will change how the world sees education. I just finished a book and I am going to put it on RUclips for free so that Indonesians can learn English for free. Oh, I love the monopoly metaphor; it's making me feel really light-hearted about my efforts. Cheers for that.

I'm finally ready to finish writing a book I started 21 years ago. It's been sniggling in the back of my mind (and sometimes the front) for all these years. In my mind, the whole thing is practically written, and I've got a lot on paper. This interview solved a problem for me. I kept NOT doing what I wanted to do for a long time simply because I focused so much on numbers. "What niche or demographic should I focus on that will get me the most followers or readers?" The last part nailed it: it's about impacting someone. If you become good at it, go with 5 and then 100 and so on. Stop focusing on numbers and just provide value for someone. It's kind of like some of the great speakers would give as an advice: to give a great speech, focus on a single person and speak as if you're only talking to one person and give him everything you've got. I love his comments on education and absolutely agree. If we want our children to lead, they need to be taught to embrace failure, as it will always be a natural part of the process. Shunning them for every setback and punishing them for time lost to other activities is just not fostering this. Everything is learning. Every breath you take, every move you make (heh), every goal you set and abandon halfway through... no matter what it is, what you're experiencing at this moment is teaching you something. Learning to respect those subtle lessons and the time it takes to process them is incredibly important. Learning to seek them out is even moreso.
This episode was packed with insights, how can we choose only 1?? :D 2 things stood out the most 1. Return on TRUST. I find this one important because with my youtube channel I noticed it started growing because people trusted what I was teaching. 2. Failing is like a monopoly game, don't take it too seriously. Happy to hear this because I feel like I take things too personally and if I approach it from this perspective I can realize that it's all a game, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose and that's ok. For a person who has been paralyzed with fear about what I say, what I do and getting approval, Seth emphasized how important "buzzer management" is by finally just doing something and not fearing failure and about not being a winner. The emphasis about just getting it out there...just doing is more important than getting the approval because there is a lot to learn from failure not only success. It is probably one of the first times I felt 'free-range' as a human being and secure in living beyond the parameters of paralyzing perfectionism.

I really appreciated the Buzzer association. I think that's a great concept to implement, if we commit before we Know we have the right answer (which in business and life we rarely do), that puts the pressure on us to figure it out within that time frame. Commit, then figure it out. That's how the best do it.
The biggest insight I'm taking away is to focus less on the masses and more on an individual person. There's so much more value in creating an authentic relationship with one person than a superficial relationship with thousands of people. I'm going to apply this in my business my focusing on enriching each client's experience by remembering how blessed I am to have their service and make sure they feel appreciated and seen.

There are so many gems in this discussion. I was excited to find time to click on this and watch it today in-between meetings. I tuned in for the answer to waiting for the right moment, but there were many other things I took away- most significantly the discussion on 'free range kids'. I know that it's a cycle- I work with K-12 educators, I work for a college, and I'm a PhD student. I am part of the cycle, so that I can walk away with three letters that will eventually give me more permission to help break the cycle. My concern is mainly with adult education/lifelong learning- we need free-range adults as much as we need free-range kids. We need a new way to do college.
my biggest insight is to email my program advisor and tell him what a difference he makes to me and my growth as a painter. I'm an MFA candidate and just failed-but listening to this and many other videos about success through the odds are helping me bounce back. One of the best was when he talked about that we should talk about our "learned good failure" that we should tell people our stories, how we came to be, how we walked through the hell of our lives and came out alive and well - and not just how looking good our lives now, so that we may inspire people and make them move as well. And the best talk is when he talked about "Our goal is not to touch everyone but to touch someone. To change one person at a time and stop worrying about everyone...". Truly we cannot please everyone, so let's stop trying to be perfect and be the perfect person/leader we ought to be for the right people/audience/followers we have the mission to serve in this lifetime. To put all these into practice in my business, I will just have to be myself and inspire the people with what I do best - put out all the best efforts I can into the world (online marketing + network marketing) and hit the upload button and be who I ought to be - me.

I love hearing about failure because I think that rejection (in any sense) is my biggest fear. From your videos and books from others, I am trying to embrace the "fail greatly" mindset, in order that I may succeed. The piece that most resonates with me right now is "There is no right moment. This is one of my favorite interviews you've done, Marie! How could you not love Seth Godin. He's so smart and humble. I've shared this video with many of my clients too. There are two points that stand out to me most in this interview: one is why Seth chose to blog everyday. When I was attempting to be consistent with my own social media and messaging, I adopted his philosophy about how when you choose to blog everyday, you begin to see the world differently and pay attention because you know you need to say something. I've benefit from this in so many ways. It's made more present and thoughtful...and my social media posting is more consistent and thoughtful. Second, Seth talked about not trying to please everyone, but focus on the interactions that leave a trail behind that I'm proud of. "Bigger isn't the point." Thank you for all you do!! Mind Blown. Just had a horrible morning with my kids. Went on a random search and found you...! THIS has made me re-think a multitude of actions within my family and by slow starting business. The biggest insight I took from your words was a realization of how I've been brought up in school. The notion of being raised for factory work gave me a sense of forgiveness in regards to my skill level in entrepreneurship. I'm just starting out my education in this area and it's okay that I feel overwhelmed. In the future I'll be more understanding and not expect myself to have even learnt the skills or the knowledge in school that I need now. Thank you!

OMG! Thank you Marie! I stumbled across this episode while preparing my workshop on Growth vs Fixed mindset. I'm life coach, a B-schooler (not finished yet but definitely by 2018) and I needed to hear that the time is now! Also that somewhere along the way my soul has become corrupted or conflicted with the SEO mumbo crap and so much reworking, reviewing my ideas and the concept of not being original. Well, Seth Godin crushed that concept 5 times over. I am starting my blog this week. I am doing a video today to share some of my insights and more importantly, I will share with the college students at my workshop tomorrow not to wait for that ultimate idea. There is so much joy, love and growth that comes from experiencing life that you may never get by waiting for that perfect launch date or url to come into your head. I feel so liberated! It was really beautiful to hear Seth say that Marie is just as magical off the camera, as she is on the camera. I never doubted that for a second, but it was nice to hear Seth say it out loud for the record. When I share with people, I try to make it about touching one person and any more than one is a bonus, so it was affirming to hear Seth say something similar. Hi Marie, thank you. I have made up my mind on how to approach the game of life. Life, enjoy it and play it smart. I've recently been more conscientiously deciding how to assess and feel about certain matters, to separate and not allow one thing to rob me from enjoying another. Learning to deal with matters as negotiable, manageable, workable, resolvable and configurable matters. Most people want things to work and are willing to work with you. So then, there's hope. We are serial beings, thinkers and doers, and matters will be dealt with and experienced on a needed and possible basis one at a time. Too many times we open up ourselves to feel all of our issues altogether all at once. This is not the way to manage our life. Don't be the situation, don't let yourself drown in anxiety and negative self-criticism. Don't choose anger and or disappointment as your choice of emotions, instead choose determination and persistence to plan for another day, the next round. Stay focused on what you do know, what you can do, and what you are capable of and people will be inspired to help you and work with you more often than not. Most people will not want to get involved with someone full of negative energy. Avoid feeling sorry for yourself, this will weaken you to play the victim of circumstance. Winners are proactive and can't stand to see themselves whine, complain and blame others for their failures, they are proud to take full responsibility. You have to be in an effective state of being with an empowering mindset and attitude. The quality and state of your being are not supposed to equate or match the quality and state of your life situation. You are unique, special and an independent, intelligent being, very advanced and powerful beyond measure, so then why degrade yourself and cripple yourself with fear and doubt. Act in accordance with your greatness. We learn, adapt, grow and change constantly to get what we want. What good is our potential if we don't believe in it? We live to win, nobody plays to lose, and nobody should play with a poor and weak spirit of being. Stay in the game and stay empowered by your greatness. If you can't be on that level, then how can we expect to deliver on that level. Be great, per your nature, not your idea of yourself. Take care of your body because you only have one. Don't wait for permission to be who you already are. You already are the best version of yourself, even if you don't see it, I know this for certain. Just be you, trust in you, you are phenomenal and great. Don't let your familiar self and known reality get in the way of discovering the unknown and unfamiliar self. Open your mind and heart to newness. If change is what you want, newness encourages change. What determines change more than anything, is doing, action. Go with what you know, and do what you gotta do. What you do will always matter more than what you think or feel. After becoming believers in themselves, the Doers are the ones that get ahead and manifest results. Goodluck.

I found it interesting when Seth said he turns an idea or belief around and looks at the argument from the perspective of the opposition. I started practicing this in college when writing papers; it helped immensely to strengthen my argument and show its weakness.' Made all the difference in the world. I've recently taken to re-connecting with that method to help decide about business creations.

The most important thing I learned is that, we have the power to just affect even one person, and in doing so we are using our time here to serve, help and bring out the about the world we want to live..and that is way better than keeping all our ideas, projects and endeavors stuck in our head where they won't see the light of day.
HI! I am so glad I clicked this video. Seth was just who I needed to hear at this moment. B-School is amazing and I am enjoying every Module. BUT I, personally, had this mindset that I needed to develop my website to "Reach the Masses!", when in reality, my ICA is only 1 (ONE) person. Not the masses. Aim to speak volumes to one person at a time, even if all they need is a whisper. That said, the one thing that popped out at me was Seth's comment at the end: "Our goal isn't to touch everyone. Our goal is to touch someone. To change someone."
My biggest insight is to leave a daily trail of thoughtful examination of my world. Doing this will focus my content and life experience in such a way that can be helpful to others, build a community, and support an overall journey of creating the changes I wish to contribute.

There were two things... First Marie, when you talked about how in all those other lines of work you realized that you got the same "feeling" of connection and being able to talk with people on a deeper level. That was powerful because it make you think about the threads in your life and how, you can "still be you" and do things that are true to your core meaning but it may look differently. You have a core meaning but it may manifest itself in different ways. Second, Seth... I'm so glad I clicked on this video... you said this " you gain trust and permission to talk to people by showing up consistently in a way that you'd want someone to show up for you." I notice in myself that when I wanted to talk to people or get a speaking gig I was chasing people BEFORE I had shown up for them instead of providing value in such a way that they wanted me to do it again because I had consistently shown up. All Marie's videos are platinum, but this one is definitely getting archived. Thanks for choosing to matter in a way that aligns with who you are so that all of us can benefit.

The biggest insight I taking away!?? There was so many laugh out loud and aha moments! I am definitely sharing this with everyone I know and I hope they watch it!! 1. I love his way of interpreting life-- as a metaphor for a board game, where everyone contributes, moves himself/herself and shifts others, shaping thus the environment. Not that I didn't think that, but I was interpreting this more at a soul level not having a visual interpretation of it. This just shows how the same idea is approached in such a different way. 2. My biggest insight was where he said, even if no one read it, he would blog everyday. In the past, I've gotten so caught up in trying to make each blog post polished that I would rarely ship. I've been inspired by Seth's blog lately to publish a new blog daily on something I went through or learned that could help someone else. I've been taking action on this and it I can honestly say I would share something each and everyday even if no one reads it. Thanks Marie :)
Seth is one of the most inspirational figures out there today, and his books and talks have helped me immensely throughout the years and I would recommend his readings for those who need clarity on their journey. Needless to say I got very happy to see him on Marie TV.
The funny thing is that last year on a rainy April day I was so stuck in my head in regards to creativity and confused about what direction to take, I decided to email him. After sending him a brief message (I dont know him personally) I go for a walk and when I came back home, I had a response from him, and it was absolutely profound. He had even looked up my website! I'll never forget this as long as I live. I took his suggestion and it was the best thing I could have done at the time. A kind and generous man, and I don't need to email him again (-:

Hey Michael. I'm not sure if it works because I haven't tried, but I know RUclips launched a paid service that allows you to save videos for offline viewing now. This might help solve your no reception challenge. Also, I watch RUclips via the chrome iPhone app so I can play them at faster speeds to squeeze more in in less time. would depend on the individual? meaningfully specific is more secure. abstraction is more flexible and more difficult but more fun. then again I do have a problem with focus, but i have never said that to myself, but other people have said it to me, and usually people who are more detail oriented than me.
Wow this one was SO GOOD. Seth is such a gem. My favorite takeaway is to practice flipping my brain so I can assess how I could be wrong about something I'm so sure about. That could widen my perspective on so many things. I'll be working to implement that!
Also love the tip on having an "instinct to ship" rather an instinct to polish. It's about acting fast, failing, not taking anything too personally, and learning from the whole process.

He's not the only one to think of that actually. If you look at you tube interviews of Elon Musk...he does a very similar thing. He basically looks at his thinking and questions it, very precisely, instead of taking his assumptoins for granted. Questioning our thoughts is also the basis for Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy...CBT. (Elon is worth watching too, he's a serial entrepreneur but for the all right reasons... like Seth I think, but Elon is an engineer first, and works in tech instead of business).

I love Seth's comment about Free Range Children. I have a 16 year old who started a high school last year in the Miami area with 3,200 other students. It was overwhelming and she spent the first quarter trying to convince her dad and I to put her in homeschooling. She finally gave up. The school offered a curriculum included 36 AP classes, but as I learned more, I realized what a rough environment the school was. Thankfully in that pressure cooker, the lessons she learned was exactly what you mentioned....how to solve problems by failure. (Also, I would add, how to steer clear of people trying to derail her dreams). I wish I had seen this episode before, I would have made a mindful effort to concentrate on "What were the failures today? And what did you learn? Whether she gets accepted into a top school or not, it is so important to raise Problem Solvers in this new world while not discouraging the spirit.
As a teacher for more than 20 years, I love your insights into education. I am sure it's on my epitaph (in a Keep note) that I will change how the world sees education. I just finished a book and I am going to put it on RUclips for free so that Indonesians can learn English for free. Oh, I love the monopoly metaphor; it's making me feel really light-hearted about my efforts. Cheers for that.

There were so many take aways! This was so Awesome! But the biggest one for me...is to 'ship' it. Stop waiting until you know everything, until everything is perfect. I'm finally ready to finish writing a book I started 21 years ago. It's been sniggling in the back of my mind (and sometimes the front) for all these years. In my mind, the whole thing is practically written, and I've got a lot on paper. Amazing episode with Seth Godin. My big takeaway was when he said " Our goal isn't to touch everyone, our goal is to touch someone." That quote gave me the answer to my procrastination on starting my blog because I was very concerned about if everyone would like it. This interview solved a problem for me. I kept NOT doing what I wanted to do for a long time simply because I focused so much on numbers.
"What niche or demographic should I focus on that will get me the most followers or readers?"
The last part nailed it: it's about impacting someone. If you become good at it, go with 5 and then 100 and so on. Stop focusing on numbers and just provide value for someone.
It's kind of like some of the great speakers would give as an advice: to give a great speech, focus on a single person and speak as if you're only talking to one person and give him everything you've got.

I love his comments on education and absolutely agree. If we want our children to lead, they need to be taught to embrace failure, as it will always be a natural part of the process. Shunning them for every setback and punishing them for time lost to other activities is just not fostering this. Everything is learning. Every breath you take, every move you make (heh), every goal you set and abandon halfway through... no matter what it is, what you're experiencing at this moment is teaching you something. Learning to respect those subtle lessons and the time it takes to process them is incredibly important. Learning to seek them out is even moreso.
Damn, that was just a snowball of incredible advice. At that last sentence had some tears come to my eyes.
This episode was packed with insights, how can we choose only 1?? :D
2 things stood out the most
1. Return on TRUST. I find this one important because with my youtube channel I noticed it started growing because people trusted what I was teaching.
2. Failing is like a monopoly game, don't take it too seriously.
Happy to hear this because I feel like I take things too personally and if I approach it from this perspective I can realize that it's all a game, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose and that's ok.

marie, I admire YOUR work. any time I feel stuck, you are one of my go-to people for practical encouragement. on days you don't feel like inspiring us you deliver regardless. I feel so blessed to have you as a mentor.
For a person who has been paralyzed with fear about what I say, what I do and getting approval, Seth emphasized how important "buzzer management" is by finally just doing something and not fearing failure and about not being a winner. The emphasis about just getting it out there...just doing is more important than getting the approval because there is a lot to learn from failure not only success. It is probably one of the first times I felt 'free-range' as a human being and secure in living beyond the parameters of paralyzing perfectionism.
I love the part about mattering to some and not try and matter to all. Start small and build

I really appreciated the Buzzer association. I think that's a great concept to implement, if we commit before we Know we have the right answer (which in business and life we rarely do), that puts the pressure on us to figure it out within that time frame. Commit, then figure it out. That's how the best do it.
The biggest insight I'm taking away is to focus less on the masses and more on an individual person. There's so much more value in creating an authentic relationship with one person than a superficial relationship with thousands of people. I'm going to apply this in my business my focusing on enriching each client's experience by remembering how blessed I am to have their service and make sure they feel appreciated and seen.

There are so many gems in this discussion. I was excited to find time to click on this and watch it today in-between meetings. I tuned in for the answer to waiting for the right moment, but there were many other things I took away- most significantly the discussion on 'free range kids'. I know that it's a cycle- I work with K-12 educators, I work for a college, and I'm a PhD student. I am part of the cycle, so that I can walk away with three letters that will eventually give me more permission to help break the cycle. My concern is mainly with adult education/lifelong learning- we need free-range adults as much as we need free-range kids. We need a new way to do college.

my biggest insight is to email my program advisor and tell him what a difference he makes to me and my growth as a painter. I'm an MFA candidate and just failed-but listening to this and many other videos about success through the odds are helping me bounce back. Thank you Marie Forleo for bringing me this timely video with an outstanding guest Seth Godin. It's the first time I've heard of him and his wisdom. Thank you for sharing your insights and wisdom and way of thinking.
One of the best was when he talked about that we should talk about our "learned good failure" that we should tell people our stories, how we came to be, how we walked through the hell of our lives and came out alive and well - and not just how looking good our lives now, so that we may inspire people and make them move as well.
And the best talk is when he talked about "Our goal is not to touch everyone but to touch someone. To change one person at a time and stop worrying about everyone...". Truly we cannot please everyone, so let's stop trying to be perfect and be the perfect person/leader we ought to be for the right people/audience/followers we have the mission to serve in this lifetime.
To put all these into practice in my business, I will just have to be myself and inspire the people with what I do best - put out all the best efforts I can into the world (online marketing + network marketing) and hit the upload button and be who I ought to be - me.

I love hearing about failure because I think that rejection (in any sense) is my biggest fear. This is one of my favorite interviews you've done, Marie! How could you not love Seth Godin. He's so smart and humble. I've shared this video with many of my clients too. There are two points that stand out to me most in this interview: one is why Seth chose to blog everyday. When I was attempting to be consistent with my own social media and messaging, I adopted his philosophy about how when you choose to blog everyday, you begin to see the world differently and pay attention because you know you need to say something. I've benefit from this in so many ways. It's made more present and thoughtful...and my social media posting is more consistent and thoughtful. Second, Seth talked about not trying to please everyone, but focus on the interactions that leave a trail behind that I'm proud of. "Bigger isn't the point." Thank you for all you do!! Mind Blown. Just had a horrible morning with my kids. Went on a random search and found you...! THIS has made me re-think a multitude of actions within my family and by slow starting business. The biggest insight I took from your words was a realization of how I've been brought up in school. The notion of being raised for factory work gave me a sense of forgiveness in regards to my skill level in entrepreneurship. I'm just starting out my education in this area and it's okay that I feel overwhelmed. OMG! Thank you Marie! I stumbled across this episode while preparing my workshop on Growth vs Fixed mindset. I'm life coach, a B-schooler (not finished yet but definitely by 2018) and I needed to hear that the time is now! Also that somewhere along the way my soul has become corrupted or conflicted with the SEO mumbo crap and so much reworking, reviewing my ideas and the concept of not being original. Well, Seth Godin crushed that concept 5 times over. I am starting my blog this week. I am doing a video today to share some of my insights and more importantly, I will share with the college students at my workshop tomorrow not to wait for that ultimate idea. There is so much joy, love and growth that comes from experiencing life that you may never get by waiting for that perfect launch date or url to come into your head. I feel so liberated! It was really beautiful to hear Seth say that Marie is just as magical off the camera, as she is on the camera. I never doubted that for a second, but it was nice to hear Seth say it out loud for the record.
When I share with people, I try to make it about touching one person and any more than one is a bonus, so it was affirming to hear Seth say something similar. Hi Marie, thank you. I have made up my mind on how to approach the game of life. Life, enjoy it and play it smart. I've recently been more conscientiously deciding how to assess and feel about certain matters, to separate and not allow one thing to rob me from enjoying another. Learning to deal with matters as negotiable, manageable, workable, resolvable and configurable matters. Most people want things to work and are willing to work with you. So then, there's hope. We are serial beings, thinkers and doers, and matters will be dealt with and experienced on a needed and possible basis one at a time. Too many times we open up ourselves to feel all of our issues altogether all at once. This is not the way to manage our life. Don't be the situation, don't let yourself drown in anxiety and negative self-criticism. Don't choose anger and or disappointment as your choice of emotions, instead choose determination and persistence to plan for another day, the next round. Stay focused on what you do know, what you can do, and what you are capable of and people will be inspired to help you and work with you more often than not. Most people will not want to get involved with someone full of negative energy. Avoid feeling sorry for yourself, this will weaken you to play the victim of circumstance. Winners are proactive and can't stand to see themselves whine, complain and blame others for their failures, they are proud to take full responsibility. You have to be in an effective state of being with an empowering mindset and attitude. The quality and state of your being are not supposed to equate or match the quality and state of your life situation. You are unique, special and an independent, intelligent being, very advanced and powerful beyond measure, so then why degrade yourself and cripple yourself with fear and doubt. Act in accordance with your greatness. We learn, adapt, grow and change constantly to get what we want. What good is our potential if we don't believe in it? We live to win, nobody plays to lose, and nobody should play with a poor and weak spirit of being. Stay in the game and stay empowered by your greatness. If you can't be on that level, then how can we expect to deliver on that level. Be great, per your nature, not your idea of yourself. Take care of your body because you only have one. Don't wait for permission to be who you already are. You already are the best version of yourself, even if you don't see it, I know this for certain. Just be you, trust in you, you are phenomenal and great. Don't let your familiar self and known reality get in the way of discovering the unknown and unfamiliar self. Open your mind and heart to newness. If change is what you want, newness encourages change. What determines change more than anything, is doing, action. Go with what you know, and do what you gotta do. What you do will always matter more than what you think or feel. After becoming believers in themselves, the Doers are the ones that get ahead and manifest results. Goodluck.

One day we will taking notes thanks to your blog. One day you will have kids commentimg and wanting to chase their goals because of something that YOU stated. I pray that over anyone hoping to make an impact in an amazing way on the world.
My best takeaway is the importance of being ourselves and loving that self! Perhaps that wasn't said but think it's understood. I am just starting out on a new life of giving MORE at the young age of 75!! I feel now is my time to really make an impact on others in my age group. As Seth said, this time NOW is a time when we can make a bigger impact than ever before. People are wanting more - and they have time to reflect and see their needs and desires - they are looking for help in doing this. Thanks!!

I found it interesting when Seth said he turns an idea or belief around and looks at the argument from the perspective of the opposition. I started practicing this in college when writing papers; it helped immensely to strengthen my argument and show its weakness.' Made all the difference in the world. I've recently taken to re-connecting with that method to help decide about business creations.
Brilliant talk...so sensible & insightful...thing I most learnt IS that’s it about quality connections with people & animals & how to find ways to incorporate that into work, whether that’s paid or volunteering or everyday encounters in the street 🦋
Thank you for this insightful interview. The most important thing I learned is that, we have the power to just affect even one person, and in doing so we are using our time here to serve, help and bring out the about the world we want to live..and that is way better than keeping all our ideas, projects and endeavors stuck in our head where they won't see the light of day.
HI! I am so glad I clicked this video. Seth was just who I needed to hear at this moment. B-School is amazing and I am enjoying every Module. BUT I, personally, had this mindset that I needed to develop my website to "Reach the Masses!", when in reality, my ICA is only 1 (ONE) person. Not the masses. Aim to speak volumes to one person at a time, even if all they need is a whisper.
That said, the one thing that popped out at me was Seth's comment at the end: "Our goal isn't to touch everyone. Our goal is to touch someone. To change someone."

My biggest insight is to leave a daily trail of thoughtful examination of my world. Doing this will focus my content and life experience in such a way that can be helpful to others, build a community, and support an overall journey of creating the changes I wish to contribute.
Wow, this video is so much more than just about finding your calling. It's about quitting, failures, writing, persevering, being an entrepreneur, raising kids with the right mindset, consumism and so much more! wow!

There were two things... First Marie, when you talked about how in all those other lines of work you realized that you got the same "feeling" of connection and being able to talk with people on a deeper level. That was powerful because it make you think about the threads in your life and how, you can "still be you" and do things that are true to your core meaning but it may look differently. You have a core meaning but it may manifest itself in different ways. Second, Seth... I'm so glad I clicked on this video... you said this " you gain trust and permission to talk to people by showing up consistently in a way that you'd want someone to show up for you." I notice in myself that when I wanted to talk to people or get a speaking gig I was chasing people BEFORE I had shown up for them instead of providing value in such a way that they wanted me to do it again because I had consistently shown up. All Marie's videos are platinum, but this one is definitely getting archived. Thanks for choosing to matter in a way that aligns with who you are so that all of us can benefit.

Mattering to somebody but not everybody. I think Marie was spot on when recognizing her gift was connecting to people, regardless of the venue. Also the monopoly game analogy of not taking it personally if business pursuits fail. I will be reading Mr. Godin as I move forward. Thank You!

For me and my business, the way that I am going to apply this is to try to blog something everyday (I'll practice with journaling ) and try to reach one person a day ~ I have a great platform, I am a hairstylist and a bartender!! 1. I love his way of interpreting life-- as a metaphor for a board game, where everyone contributes, moves himself/herself and shifts others, shaping thus the environment. Not that I didn't think that, but I was interpreting this more at a soul level not having a visual interpretation of it. This just shows how the same idea is approached in such a different way.
