I've not seen Toprak smile much, always seems so serious. But I bet that when he got off that 750, his grin would've gone from one ear right round to the other!😊👍
Watching on iPad I can’t hear the two stroke sound since he’s in the hi revs constantly.. until reading your comment I assumed since it’s a replica and not an original that it was also a 4 stroke ….now I see that would make no sense even being a replica it’d have to be basically new oem 1977 parts to make it anything special 🤦🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️😬
Pure talent! Would love to see him on a 2023 MotoGP machine duelling with Bautista on a 2023 MotoGP Ducati. No other traffic, just these two gladiators
Where can we see some more of this??!! Never have I seen someone actually pushing track limits on a museum bike. Would love to see a comparison of Toprak's lines/body position on a split screen with the original pilots from back in the day.
Do the commenters never ride at the racetrack, or is everyone just playing along with Yamaha's hyperbolic description? He IS taking it easy because as a professional, he does recognize how priceless this bike is. He's being very gentle in braking, cornering and application of power. Using the full rev-range doesn't mean he's "pushing".
Night and day difference with that big beast there and modern bikes. Ax a club guy, I couldn’t even imagine riding a two stroke TZ 750. Those little 350s and 400s scared me enough. I remember seeing my first WSR 500 ( is that right?) in the pits at Road Atlanta with Robbie Peterson and Rich Oliver. Asked them a ton of questions. First time that bike was in the states. Then I ran into the two mechanics in the bathroom and asked them a ton of questions outside. Quite some lessons. I learned the 250 two strokes were actually harder to work on.
lol, Toprak was paying his bills on that straightaway ... still for the day it was hair raising and a full on HOOT, racers had to have a special large 2 quart compartment in front of the seat behind the tank for their balls, zip tie the sac down only thing that kept em on the bike pulling 2.8 Gs in the corners... GIT SOME Raz! you can win the next 6 .. you got this...

That's why we tend to use the TZ750 for our current racers. We did put one of them on a TA125 once, but he burnt out the clutch before he'd even done a lap 🤣
Ducati gives motogp bike to Bautista at Sepang for a race, Yamaha gives 46 years old bike to champion rider for a few laps. This is the difference of the racing culture of these two teams.
Every world superbike and GP Rider should have to ride a 500 from days gone by! These things were beasts. Two-stroke animals ready to spit you off in a heartbeat. No pussy boy Electronics to control wheel spin and traction control excetera excetera
Yamaha must be kicking their huge arses losing Raz , because they still have to come up more power for the R1 , but now don’t have someone as capable as Raz to ride it in 2024
F750 was a series for 'production' motorcycles & not part of the Grands Prix so the bike should not be a YZR. I thought Yamaha works 2T GP machines only used the YZR prefix. The bike shown is a TZ750.
It is possible to clutchless shift without a device to do it for you, in fact it's not even that hard if you have the knack. You Just unload the gearbox for a fraction of a second by coming off throttle a wee amount approximately matched to the next gears revs, slot it in and get back on the throttle. Smooth fast and clean and all just with human coordination between wrist and foot.
You can't see his wrist so you can't tell. Sounds the same as when I clutchless upshift to be honest.. however you may well be right. It does say in the title it's a replica, so it's not necessarily an original spec bike outright
Toprak is a hell of a talent. He would have shined in any era.
So agree with you. Plus what a humble guy he is.
Except he’s never raced MotoGP.
