I feel like I am beating a dead horse here but…
The smart man buys a used vehicle from 2013-2017 with 100-130k and pays cash. Beat the brakes off it until it reaches 230k and buy another. Cash is king Mark, financing new is for suckers. Money collects interest in the bank, not on depreciating assets!
Old not agree more. Best is to get the slightly older, more reputable cars or trucks and run the wheels off. I pinned your comment to top because it simply makes sense.
Yes and no. Not sure anymore. The best deal used to be the diesels because the diesel trucks held value. I could buy a new diesel (yeah it cost a lot more) but In trade in it wouldn't totally depreciate. You spend 25k end up with nothing. I could spend a lot more and lose the same 25 k or even less in depreciation driving a new diesel.
Of course the insurance registration all that would be higher for me.
But we both lost 25 k I just lost it on a loaded diesel. 🤣
Well Said. Only thing better is to pick the right Toyota Model & Year and keep it for life
@@pauljbusby Toyota is no guarantee of getting the 9 million miles y'all fanbois claim you'll get. you still have to do maintenance and repairs on a toyota.
Ive always paid cash for my commuter trucks and financed my wife's fancy suvs. I want her to drive somthing new and safe, where I don't care if I drive a 5-10 year old truck to work. It's definitely a personal thing but I want her to feel good with her vehicles. It's been 3 years since I bought her a new one and it may be a few more if prices stay astronomical.
We need a new vehicle but refuse to pay the prices they are asking. Worth repairing my old truck for now.
That’s fair and I have done the same with the old 2003 Ram. So far so good
Same! Between stroller, portable crib, luggage we don’t have enough space to travel by car with the kids. Car rentals are just as much of a pain… I want a 3 row so bad, but I’m still pissed at the prices… Greedy bastards! 😡😅😅
Smart

@@sw6155 I'm an old man and can do without. My feelings go out to you with a young family who must find this a struggle . Good luck.
To my way of thinking 100 K at 0% interest is still 100 K. That’s just too much for a vehicle. I don’t care what anybody says. It’s just too much..
Yes the market has normalized this silliness. It’s still too much
Exactly my thoughts
80s & 90s trucks are like gold in my area.EVERYONE is tired of the bullcrap with new overpriced unreliable vehicles.& want the reliable easy to work on vehicles they had in the past.THERE WORTH RESTORING!!! & if done correctly will probably outlast a 2024 by years.after all, they allready lasted 30 to 40 years.& are worth a 2nd life.to save 50k$ in payments.
I'm staying in my 2021 fully loaded dodge charger daytona. $400/m x 72 at 5% and it's an absolute BLAST daily driving it. Still RIGHT SIDE up $10k, still have a few years of factory warranty left I'm sitting!
Got s good deal last week here in the uk I brought a 4 month old cupra formentor VZ2 for £37.000 down from £45.000 I took £2000 less for my mustang GT than I wanted but it was still a great deal
Yeh...I recently saw on the news that copper thieves are breaking into charging stations...tearing out the copper and totally disabling the station for charging. Another problem for EV owners! The world is "chock full of thieves."
Another great video Mark. 👍
Thanks 👍
Good video mark. lots of info.
Easy to solve. Reduce vehicle prices by 38%, offer 10 year warranty on the junk they are selling and for qualified buyers no more then 2.9% financing. They will move
Interest rates has very little affect on my decision to buy a new truck. Bidenomic's, higher gas, higher car insurance, higher food, you name it the list goes on and on. December 2023 I was going to buy a Silverado crew cab, the dealer wouldn't move from the MSRP, everything was on me. FYI, I help build these trucks at a rate of one a minute, I'm talking about $50k plus trucks.
It’s terrible with the prices these days and hopefully we will start to see lower prices this year
That didn't make sense. If you are building them you are alread below MSRP with the employee discount.
Thanks for your updates. Would you advise to lease a vehicle for a short period of time ( for someone who absolutely needs it right away) while waiting to see a significant drop?
Got 5k off for subaru Outback with 2.99 in 72months. not convinced yet. If someone needs a car soon maybe it should be worth waiting until the time around 2025 models come out
Before 2020, dealers stocked up to an average 86 day supply. We are currently at 76 days. The best deals have yet to come
With this pace, in 2027 Ram customers will have to choose between basic RAM 1500 with the MSRP of $100 000 or Mercedes S class with the same MSRP....
So happy and relieved that my newest car is a 2020 model, bought pre-panny before all this madness started. I don’t think I’ll ever buy another car made after that year.
Yes it just seems so criminal. Priced increase FAR surpassed standard inflation rates. It’s purely greed.
Yeah, good for you….
Same here. I bought a new Camry LE in 2020 before all this madness started. I bought it thru Costco's auto buying program. Sticker price...$26K+..paid $23K+...car has 19,500 miles...still new. So far, so good. My truck...1970 F-250...paid 10K 10 years ago...worth 20K+ now. Paid Camry off in 1 year. I'm "good to go."
Nice job.
Thank you
Do not buy.. i repeat.. Do not buy.
What if a person needs a new vehicle?
@@markholubetz Take the bus or walk. The more that consumers say no, the better we all are. You all should have done this back in 2020 when this nonsense started. If you had done that then inflation wouldn't be what it is. People wouldn't be getting over paid. And seniors wouldn't be getting tossed out of their houses due to insane taxes.
@@markholubetzbuy within your means and used. Just have to shop. But new? Big rip off
@@markholubetzI like to suggest a Nissan versa. It's it great? Well, no. It's a economy car. But here you can get them for 19k or less out the door. Just don't plan on trading it in for a few years. 🤣. Get the manual shift the cvt is risky.
Figure $400 a year maint. Great gas mileage. Cheap to fix. . Drive it ten years .
Sell it for three k and you averaged about 2k a year. The first five years probably not much will break plus you had a little warranty. 2 k a year isn't the best but it's pretty good for this current economy. People lose more than that in depreciation, more expensive mpg, more expensive insurance and reg.
Even if you hit 2300 a year you are doing better then many
I paid 58k for a used Mach E premium. They were 75 or more new. The way I see it is, I was happy with the price when I first got it. Whether prices go up or down, I won’t regret my decision especially that gas savings pays off 80% of my monthly car payment. This whole idea of wait it’s gonna get better is risky. If you need a car, go and get one if you can. These companies are not gonna sell you a 75k vehicle for 30k. End of story
Paid off truck 3 year ago had it now 8 years keeping it 4 more years. Am good waiting for a 6 speed manual. See what happens...
My apologies for writing to complain but new car prices have reached absurdly profane levels from our perspective. Prices would have to come down by 50% minimum for us to consider to participate in car market place!! I find myself in amazement that anybody can afford these prices and to top it off with the current interest rates!?! How is it possible??
I got a good deal on a Nissan (new). I had my reasons to buy now.
Hey there, my 2006 Toyota Tundra SR5 was stolen months ago and the insurance paid me 11k for it. I want to buy a used Tundra, what year and trim you recommend? I have about 30k cash to spend. I don’t believe a new Tundra or Taco are worth the asking price. Thank you in advance.
Literally just came from the dealership needing a new truck, looked at used and they didn’t have what I wanted so after major lowball on my trade in which they refused to go up they tried putting me in a new truck with an increase of 400 bucks a month. Unless I put over 10 grand down which is bullshit. Got up and walked out.
Totally it’s all by design to squeeze everything out. Gotta find the big deals
@@markholubetz there aren’t any and I mean any deals in my area.
Even some of the popular Rav4 is starting to sit on dealer lots for a long time. Some are hitting 60-90 days for the higher end models.
Yes they have also crept up in price too and people are done getting hosed
@@markholubetz I'm in the process of buying a new Rav4 Adventure, but with a trade in of $22k from a 2014 Nissan 370Z. It's just sitting in my driveway, I need a vehicle with AWD with the snow we get here. Otherwise I wouldn't have accepted the offer.
I paid 28 k out the door for a Rav LE 2020. Now its at 35k to start
Mark I am considering buying a pre-owned Tesla or a pre-owned Polestar 2 with low miles while keeping my Chevy Blazer.
Absolutely, the ICE covers any unknown or far drives while the Tesla can be a great local runabout
@markholubetz Thats true....The EV would be more like a "weekend" car.
My friends with EVs and ICE started last summer taking the Tesla. Charging overnight at the hotel or during sit down meals. Not everywhere, but the convenience is shifting.
DON'T GET A USED TESLA
Dealers are the main problem
i doubt used prices will quickly fall anytime soon.local dealer has same year make & model, similarly optioned as one i bought in 18.BUT want 35 to 4 grand more than i paid.even with 40k more miles than mine was.youd need to be a fool to buy them now.4 grand more with 40k more miles.no wonder there still sitting collecting dust.thats not including interest rate increase.its CRAZY.
They are capitalizing on high new prices and used availability to keep prices higher
If you're going to buy new or used Toyota Honda Mazda and even Subaru
My local Ford dealer has base F150 asking $80,000 higher specs over $100 😵💫 I’m keeping my 2009 as long as it runs. Even the Toyota Tundra and Tacomas are too expensive and have issues
For sure, the options are fewer and farther between to get a good deal
I wouldn't buy a Dodge or a Jeep even if they were 75% off. Those things are pieces of junk.
Fark no..We are very close to a great depression...Hold off 6 months or sooner
Where I live, there is a back order on #Tacomas .
The Toyota dealer has no need to make Deals.
Darn it.
That’s their business model and deliver on time model so it’s hard to deal if inventory is low or non existant
@@markholubetz umm. I'm in the u.s. And the dealer here has almost 60 on the lot. One is a pro , one a trail hunter. Twenty something are I force Max (whatever). Out of the rest I see 6 off-roads. 4 pretty bare. The others premiums. So maybe 10 premiums. They've hit me up twice already to buy one.
What IS weird. Is i could have sworn a couple months ago they were offering between $750 and $3500 off. But now it looks like straight msrp
I dunno. But there is like 60. 58 maybe. Not kidding. . Not many lower models only a few. And only one pro.
The off-roads are mixed, some upgrade package some not. Lot of premiums
That's the Tacoma.
What's also strange is the price of the outgoing 4 runner went up again. Not dealer add on, the straight msrp seems to have gone up a couple thousand. They pretty much all over 50k. The 4 runner pro they have 59k
The 4 runners were cheaper a few months ago. Plus they were knocking a thousand off. It's reversed. They only have like 10 4 runners. Maybe that's why. Dropped inventory the price why back up. Or maybe new higher MSRP for the 24 model year even in the 4 runner. 2k or more higher.
People seem to be buying the 4 runners up more then the new Tacomas. From what I see anyway. I haven't seen a single 24 Tacoma driving around. Seen quite a few new 4 runners
Damn
Thanks
I bought a RAV4 XSE hybrid new for essentially 38k and I love it. 3.99% interest rate and monthly payment below 900. I will do it again even with current crisis in the market.
Below $900/m for a$ 38k car you got hosed
@OctonaBoyFresh how so? My payment with insurance is below 900 on a 48 month payment schedule. Price is right, interest rate is right and I am happy with it
Stellantis is just over priced junk, Ford has too many recalls and over priced, I don't like GM, Toyota is also overpriced recalled junk. I want a nice car to sip on gas but they are too expensive and I am not trading in my 22 Frontier. And used cars are also over priced people asking 15 grand for a miled out half ton.
RIPOFF
They are pricey. Lets watch for those discounts
I will not pay these ridiculously high prices on these low quality vehicles....
All you guys say that I’ll look how cheap this is oh look how cheap that is and when we really go to buy it what you say is all BS
Not buying any of this junk made now!!
Prices need to continue to drop
Do not buy!!
Yeah man listen You sound like a clock.
Why are the prices not dropping?
Get to the point.
Why are car prices not falling?
Your answer should be:"Car prices are not falling because....... this is the part where you show how much of an expert you are... so tell us.
Why are car prices not falling?
Let see if you understand if I change the word "car" into "food" or "Housing".
You see it has nothing to do with "the free market" which is not free at all.
Food prices Car prices House prices cannot go down in a inflationary financial system.
