    Wow!! I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to this phenomenal interview with these two lovely amazing ladies. Massive fan here of anything Stargate, and, as with a lot of you guys I am super excited about the prospect of a possible return of this brilliant show in the not so distant. Wouldn't it be WONDERFUL to see Torri and Rachel again. Thank you for bringing these interviews to us. All the best - Neil (UK) 🙏

    Oh, there were a couple of people in the chat who hadn't seen the Joe Flannigan / Jason Momoa Guinness commercial, which I thought was brilliant, and a nice (subtle) nod to Stargate:

    I enjoyed this interview, and I appreciate David for continuing to focus on the impacts of AI on the entertainment industry. One of my favorite podcasts recently replaced its intro song, which was an actual one by an actual artist, to one by a fake artist created by AI because it was cheaper to license. My favorite musical act is one that is in the music industry's shrinking middle class, with the frontman who writes all the songs continuing to do it as his full time career while the other band members all have outside jobs and just do it as a side hustle. They do concerts on weekends and play to audiences of 1,600 to 1,800 when they headline. I am starting to worry about them because if they lose their licensing revenue from things like soundtracks and video games, it is just going to make it that much harder to keep the ship afloat. This channel has been outstanding about educating and informing fans, and I would like to encourage David to keep up the good work.

    About the actor reduction: I believe the only way to survive this is for actors to create their own 'offical' synthetic versions of themselves. Hire an AI engineer that can build a synthetic/deep-fake model of you (personality, visual/video, voice) that can represent you in digital media. You can license it like you do yourself. Create custom variations to match particular roles you want to play. Make a synthetic portfolio in VR showcasing the different roles you play well. They can be experienced and interacted with based on your design. You are in control. Union rules could be passed to require companies to pay for the use of your model instead of unofficial fakes.

    I remember the uproar as they recast weirs character, everybody was expecting jessica steen would return to scifi since captain power /and earth 2/, but I liked Torri from the beginning as she reminded me of sigourney weaver of aliens fame :-D, interesting take on her character as she knew she is not an expert in any of the practical skills required there but she was an expert on managing the ressources she had to her disposal, a leader you would like to follow because you trust her that she will do the right thing and not push someone elses agenda or manipulate to get green numbers and sell herself to the powers to be to climb the ladder...

    I can't believe I missed this! :( My favorite was the "Garden Talk" believe it or not. It was the day in the life of the person and not the "actor" which was very refreshing.

      We had some garden talk in the live chat too - it's nice to be able to relate. But I don't call any of my veggies 'courgettes' or 'aubergines'. Canadiens, eh?

    • @cyberhawk99
      @cyberhawk99 5 месяцев назад

      @@paulbrickler Yes, both Torri and Rachel grew up in Canada. Courgettes (zucchini) and aubergines (eggplant) are used mostly in the UK, but it's nice to know that "potato" is still a potato. ;)

    Doubt the actors read the comments here but in case they do, there's another actress who's had some uncomfortable requests on Cameo and turned them down. There's a disclaimer on there saying the talent are not obligated to accept any request they don't want to do.
    How delusional is it to ask if Dan Castellaneta could be on? Though I seriously doubt he has time, he's so busy working but I'd love to ask him about his other projects too like The Pursuit of Happyness (a rare serious role he did).

    It concerns me a lot that the whole industry is going down obviously, they have to find a way to produce at reasonable costs and still keep up quality. I´m really concerned they destroy the art. People should pay more attention about what they consume and should not swallow so many bitter pills and trying to talk them good, just because they paid a lot for the streaming and don´t want to admit that they didn´t get enough for it. I think the industry should concentrate on quality instead of quantity, and go back to respecting actors and writers again, haven´t they learned anything out of the strikes?

    That audition process sounds utterly bonkers, 5 hours work for having someone give it maybe 20 seconds worth of attention? Hardly seems sustainable for the long term does it.

    I’m allowed to speak my mind with respect and I think it’s a shame Tori attributes so much of her career success to the color of her skin. I understand what she was alluding too but to trash yourself while trying to shed light on an issue, is a problem. Loved the interview regardless ❤️

    • @paulbrickler
      @paulbrickler 5 месяцев назад +4

      IMO, she's too talented to attribute all of her success to privilege, but it's kind of her to recognize that other people may not have had the same opportunities.

    • @aritomoshinozaki7124
      @aritomoshinozaki7124 4 месяца назад

      Why Shame? It’s hard to understand when people want to shame someone for their acknowledgement of circumstances. She is a fine actress and deserving of roles like she had. She only acknowledges there are fine actresses out there who due to societal context had a narrower window of opportunities.

    • @wesleyhall3554
      @wesleyhall3554 2 месяца назад

      It's also a bit misleading. Often characters are advertised with characteristics. That's why they would walk into auditions and see all these versions of themselves. Maybe there were more ads for white, female, brunettes but she still had to outperform the competition. She didn't get roles because of 'white privilege'.
