This helped me a lot man, believe it or not I am 15 years old and I am getting my dream car next week, which is a 1974 Cadillac Fleetwood
Glad it helped! Good luck on the buy and let me know how it goes!
I love Fleetwood Mac 🥰✋ I’m buying a 1999 Volvo this weekend I’m 16!
@@elcaminokyle6561 I was looking for a video where I could get some information on how to remove the cap that covers the roll back for the seat belts. So far I haven't found anything other then how to put the seatbelt through a new cover. The old one had cracked and he didn't show the original removal of the seatbelt on his El Camino.
@@michaelpearce8661 I have never personally taken that back panel off or even messed with the seatbelt retraction system. Looks like there’s a video of a guy explaining how to take the cover on and off on a 1968. Not sure the year elco you’re working on
Mac
This really helped me! I'm going to look at a 1987 El Camino tommorow, and thus has given me a great idea on what to look for. Thank you!
Thank you man, I'm 20 and just starting to get a passion for classic cars after seeing my grandfather buy and sell them, this helps a lot and I'm looking to buy one with him soon
Thanks for the tip, I’m a younger classic car enthusiast at only 20 years old and really getting the knowledge but not the experience 😂
Wanna buy a 73 maverick and this was very helpful. Thanks man!
Wonder_9 glad it helped and definitely grab that maverick if you can - they’re become more desirable! If you’ve got an instagram feel free to reach out and ask questions anytime
El Camino Kyle for sure man love the content! One question I did have is if you had any tips for buying a car online. I’m looking at classicautotrader and I’m trying to work around the fact that I can’t see it in person by being extra picky over emails
Wonder_9 I’ve got no experience buying from online sites like autotrader, ebay, or dealers but I’ve got some input. For me, I’d personally (and have tried) to only use those sites when buying the one dream car. Besides that I’ve heard plenty of stories about being scammed out of deals, car not being as advertised, etc, etc. But I think it’s safe to say that the more valuable the car the more stable the deal will be. If I was in your spot I’d ask if the car is worth the risk, if it’s worth flying out to see, or if someone you know who lives nearby can check it out. Other than that I’d stick to Craigslist and Facebook, or if your plate and time allows - go out and drive your streets looking for cars hidden away that aren’t listed for sale. That’s the best way in my opinion
@@elcaminokyle6561 The one I'm looking at is in near perfect condition from a gallery in Michigan. Unfortunately, I'm from Miami so it's a bit far, but It is my dream car and I'm definitely gonna make sure it's a good deal. Thanks for all the responses man, just found your channel, but the content is amazing. I'll be sure to give you a follow on instagram as well (@itsdavid_ap)
Wonder_9 go for it dude. If it feels right follow through. You should have every right to ask for videos of it running, driving, etc, maybe even a inspection report. Lmk how it goes!
So spot on I couldn’t of said it better I wish I would’ve bought this before I spent 30 grand but I feel so much better knowing I built my car right
Watched* not bought
I’m looking to buy a 68 Pontiac Catalina as a daily driver, this was the best video I’ve found so far, thanks man
One of the best ways to get an idea of how well the car has been re done is to look up under the dash. Trust me, it's not usually a place a flipper will expend resources (time, money). Look for dust from bondo sanding, rust, critter nests, etc.
Best educational video I've seen so far. Thank you so much for making things easy to understand!
This is the best video of its topic! Well detailed and informative. I am looking into getting 1986 Peugeot 504
I thought I recognized the area and then you start driving, That's Lake Oswego! Nice to see someone local.
Yep!
Absolutely, very important. Great advice.
You said #1, check the oil . The dipstick shows Full . BUT is it the correct dipstick ? I bought a car 110 miles from my house. Dipstick showed FULL . 43 miles going home, boom, bang , another boom . Engine blew up. Further inspection revealed that it had the WRONG dipstick. Basically I was driving home with 2 quarts of earl . IF POSSIBLE TAKE A DIPSTICK FROM A car same as the car you want to buy . Compare dipstick length. Does your dipstick show the SAME oil level as their dipstick ? Otherwise you have to drain the oil and start checking the oil as you add oil ONE QUART at a time. Basically does the dipstick show FULL after adding only 3 quarts of oil ? Or you can drain the oil and check to see HOW much oil you drained out. Use a jug that measures in quarts.
Lmao, when you popped that radiator cap I was giggling haha.
Went to buy a car, he had it idling when I pulled up. Most reliable classic I have ever owned drive it multiple times a week.
I wish this video was around when I bought my 1989 Nissan Sentra
Thanks I'm looking at buying 1985 El Camino as my first car.
Can’t go wrong with a 5th gen! That’s where I started
I have a 1983 Mercedes 240 diesel every since I drove my vintage My opinion all order cars drive a lot way better than a newer cars because different technology and when it comes to the old technologies it’s more tougher and they last longer throughout our lives.
I'm getting a 1982 ss el camino this was very helpful thank you
I'm going to replace the carpet in my 72 Chevy El Camino and I'm wondering how to remove the caps that cover the seatbelt roll back.

Can you trust classic cars from dealerships?
Great question - whenever someone asks me for advice I tell them their money is better off spent patiently. Research and find a car that is suitable for you / you like, search for it over the span of a month to understand the pricing as well as valuing it with resources like Hagerty. Once you find a contender, whether it’s a dealer or private party, take your time and see it once if possible, gather as much info as you can, then post asking for guidance on apps like Reddit. That is shorty story long and the best scenario. Otherwise try finding someone knowledgeable to join you when looking, in my opinion go for private party deals, then dealers, then very lastly should be auctions. Reason being is because auctions don’t typically allow you to speak to the previous owner directly or do a pre purchase inspection, dealers could be hiding problems or at minimum can only tell you as much info as they were able to gather when buying the car over the span of an hour. And finally - nowadays most private party sellers prefer to sell to someone they like!
I want the car to be warm if it's a rotary
did you make the gear stock yourself?
