i love it when he smooths out it always looks like an unfinished piece and suddenly it looks like he chopped off someones hand and just mounted it there. thats how realistic it is
yeah its nuts what a difference a bit of polish makes. I mean literally i wouldn't have thought the thing my art was missing was literal polish but thats all he does, a few well placed cuts and some polish and it all changes
I must say that is the most beautiful job I have ever seen done in clay. I was so envious I couldnt come close so I gave up. but still trying. thank you for sharing with everyone lori
male and female hand have different finger lengths, thicker / thinner fingers and more / less fat pads in the palm. all those details are attained in the general shapes, as well as how much he shaves away
I love how the hand is realistic and it resembles an actual human hand. His technique is amazing and his attention to detail makes everything he do flawless.
Wow, has Madison grown so and is playing piano so very well now? I took your workshop in April 2009 in California. I so wish you would teach on the West Coast again! Love your work, DVDs and books. Thank you for continuing to keep me updated on your new materials.
WOW! WOW! WOW! I am at a loss for words to describe just how beautiful your work is. You truly are an inspiration & I thank you for sharing your videos with us
In his early books, Philippe works with WED clay, which is a very smooth water based clay and is easy to blend and shape. I've worked with it and it's great for practice and making masters, but it's not a permanent material. I think he may work with another water-based clay now, but they're very similar.
I have to correct my earlier comment about the WED - I went back through my notes and found it was Laguna Clay company that recommended the WED as "a favorite of movie and large-scale figurative artists"; Mr. Faraut was not the one who recommended it. I have personally used WED and think it's outstanding, but it's not what he's using in this video. Sorry for the incorrect information.
+Raven Wallace just google clay supplies in the area that you live,if you have no luck ask a school art teacher where they get there supplies,it shouldnt be that hard.good luck
hi u made this hand so beautiful m doing p.g in art and craft and today I got. explore classes in fire material and searching for make some object so just saw u u r vid nice good luck
Ahh, clay work is like a loving mothers embrace, soothing this mortal coil. That said, this is a pretty great presentation, much like working the clay ones self. Thanks for sharing.
If you're just starting out with clay give Sculpey a shot. It's oven bake clay but works great for all different types of projects. You can pick that and tons of other types of clay as well as any and all tools you'd need at Hobby Lobby.
Potessi acquisire io questa incredibile manualità.... Riprodurre le mani sarà sempre una continua sfida....... I miei complimenti all'artefice di questo capolavoro
Wow! I've never been fortunate enough to see this done before. I was particularly surprised at how even in the latter stages the hand had extra bulk to it, presumable to account for extra removal of clay as refinements were made.
What's very interesting about this is how intuitively we can understand the concept even if we probably can't do it quite as well. It's easy to make the shape of a hand, you look at yours all the time. You probably even remember what they look like. This is one of those videos that shows you: you can do it. You can.

This guy is the reason why I started to pursue figure sculpting. Such inspiring work.
The transition at 5:00, when he applies water with a cloth - amazing!
I like this!
It is really only water?
@@AX-fc5sc Water if they're using clay and solvent if it's synthetic
A few steps may have been missed out there...
OMG I LOVE IT...I ALMOST CRIED...I searched ceramic hand for my project and this caught my eyes! ¡MUY BUENO!
you are such an amazing artist. i might literally be able to watch this for hours because its so hypnotizing
I must say that is the most beautiful job I have ever seen done in clay. I was so envious I couldnt come close so I gave up. but still trying. thank you for sharing with everyone lori
Scuplting a hand is one thing...but to have it turn out so naturally feminine or masculine, thats insane... how?? Lol
They both look pretty androgynous to me...
.magnifique sculpture j'adore ! merci pour cette vidėo.
Why lol. Why you laughing out loud?
The hand looks female to me
male and female hand have different finger lengths, thicker / thinner fingers and more / less fat pads in the palm. all those details are attained in the general shapes, as well as how much he shaves away
I am a big fan of Philippe faraut. Watching his work for many years. I wish some day i could attend any of his workshops to see him working live.

Can you imagine doing this in marble? No correcting mistakes.
They usually do a clay model first and have measuring tools to me exact....
Lovely technique. Beautiful product.
He clearly dipped his hand in paint and held that prop.

HI there, incredible work. I made a hand in Roma PLastilina, how can I make a mold of the intricate positions of the fingers?
What's very interesting about this is how intuitively we can understand the concept even if we probably can't do it quite as well. It's easy to make the shape of a hand, you look at yours all the time. You probably even remember what they look like. This is one of those videos that shows you: you can do it. You can.
A living Master at work.
Wow! This was so therapeutic to watch...
