The people have spoken, and it's dinosaurs and horror they want! It has been years and years since I sat down to play Capcom's experimental #survivalhorror title #DinoCrisis and the only thing left to do is to see if this can replace the almighty #ResidentEvil as far as great horror experiences go. What's up guys! Welcome to the Dino Crisis Retrospective! - Игры
This dude could do a retrospective on taking a dump for an hour and I would still listen, he's that good.
I wouldn't.
I'll take a hard pass on that one.
@@ShinobiNeon Nice one.
Im in. Fuck everyone else. I want the play by play for everyone push and grunt. I just hope he ate a lot of cheese two days prior to the recording.
I would unironically watch this. Seriously, a Avalance Reviews retrospective on taking a dump would be amazing!
This gonna be epic. Dino Crisis needs a remaster.
Needs a remake on the RE Engine.
100% agree.
Agreed
Agree
I think that Capcom announced that they are considering it.
Bleeding also lets dinosaurs scent you and hunt you down, as I recall.
Really really hope Capcom remakes Dino Crisis next like they did RE2. Day 1 buy for sure for me.
Kind of burned out by zombies. There's a complete lack of good dino games lately.
I have my fingers crossed, that they'll do something like that.
Lack of games period. Everyone is hooked on loot box an pay to win games.
I say capcom sells out. Take the new RE engine and go RE3 and CV. Along with DC. they already said RE3 before RE8, which is promising that the see what the fans really want and make 8 more in lines with the originals. Then knock it out of the park with the DC2 we always wanted. It would be a lot easier for them to redo games, no story needed to be done up, no levels designed (other than tweaks) and just graphical updates. All much easier and more profitable than making a new game from scratch. I’d be launch for all those games. RE7 was a long wait and by for me.
@@AvalancheReviews Based off the relative success of other dino related titles like ARK Survival Evolved, I do believe a remade Dino Crisis could be a fantastic addition to the modern Capcom library.
Think of a modern version of Dino Crisis made in the RE Engine, where features such as third-person and first-person camera modes could be added in addition to the classic fixed cameras. Game would look amazing with beautifully rendered 4K textures, and they could do a perfect remaster of sound effects, voice and soundtracks.
Maybe even add a little extra to the story, where the player goes more in-depth to learn about how the time-shifts happened, and the staging act of the Doctor's accidental death.
They could also ramp up the difficulty of the final boss battles with the T-Rex, as those are a bit on the easy side of things
For the love of Shinji, Could we stop asking for remakes and remasters. We need new original ideas and need to leave what was right in the past.
I'm so glad you covered this game. One of my earliest memories was watching my dad play this. I went on to beat it numerous times and it's probably my favorite PS1 game. My dad passed away a few years ago and whenever I play this game I feel connected to him in a way.
Damn, I'm sorry to hear that. On the flip side, that's a great way to remember him. I'm happy if this video was able to bring even a fraction of that back for you.
@@AvalancheReviews Thanks a lot love your videos!!
LOVE this game. Sure it has its flaws but it was the perfect holdover for RE fans. Really hope Capcom revives it someday
I couldn't have said it better myself.
@@AvalancheReviews you did tho
The puzzles in this game are hard as hell
Dino Crisis: literally almost every enemy is a Licker (not really but you get the point)
lickers are much easier to deal with than those raptors.
Nah they're Hunters.
Cutscene Regina rivals Cutscene RE3 Jill. *Fight me.*
I'm not fighting you. Can't we just lewd both?
Lawd Yes lol
Compromise, beat the game and play as Regina Jill.
"I've been waiting for this moment, all my life......" *Phil Collins Drum Solo*
The zombie crocodile from RE2 Remake reminded me of Dino Crisis so much, hope they'll do a remake
The overgrown room in the laboratory, the one with all the ivy's, gave me a huge Dino Crisis vibe.
That moment when the T. Rex busts through the window... still my biggest video game jumpscare to date.
"That's disgusting !"
xD
So glad you are finally doing the Dino Crisis series.
Me too!!
Another dope episode 👍🏾
Loved Dino Crisis - was the best in the series as well I think.
Thanks!!!
Can't argue with that.
Me too.
I played DC 2 before DC 1
Imagine someone making a remake of Dino Crisis akin to Resident Evil 2: RE with updated photorealistic graphics! That would be awesome.
Maybe some day after Nemesis: REmake
@@danbrooks7937 well Regina's outfit was playable in RE3 so it may be inside the realm of possibilities.
Hopefully they dont ruin it with forced running sections, unoriginal puzzles and crappy padding stealth.
@@rickjohnson9673 that's one game I haven't overplayed so I'd have to agree for CV
T REX should get a hat like Mr X
I had this on the Dreamcast and never really got into it (I was more into Code Veronica at the time)
Just last year I set up the Dreamcast, popped this in and played it from beginning to end. Can't believe I never liked this at the time as it is my kind of game.
Hope that Capcom gives this the RE2 treatment and remake this bad boy.
I felt the same way when i first brought it on the ps1 back in 02,the begining didnt reel me in so i put it down for a month and retried it again realizing that the game was very unique and intresting and im glad i actually gave it another chance,i even beat the game a few times afterwards to get the diffrent endings.
Dang, glad you gave it another shot
@@AvalancheReviews around that time i was playing jade cacoon and re2 on the ps4 either those or re3 which me and my friends went ham on mainly because of mercenary mode so i put dino crisis down to play my other games.
The first game is insanely full of puzzle which gets tiring after a while. But the second one is more action packed more then survival horror though. They need to combine both of these aspects if they want to remake this.
To be fair it's pretty hard to figure out as a kid I gave up on it at the part where you had to take DNA samples and make key cards I picked it up years later and easily beat it.
Dino crisis was my first survivor horror. I got it for the dreamcast, had no idea what kind of game it was, just that it had dinossaurs, and man, what a surprise it was. I love this game, and i hope it gets a remake sometime. Thank you for the video, keep the good work. You're the only youtuber that is able to make me watch a video a soon as im notified of an upload
That's seriously awesome to hear, I appreciate it, man!
No stupid skits. No silly catchphrases. No bullshit straight up reviews which delivers exactly what it says on the tin. I love it you go super technical with the framemiester stuff even though it goes completely over my head. Amazing job dude. P.s I would donate to the patreon but money is super tight right now 😧
Just watching my videos and these comments help more than you know, I really appreciate the support. Let's me know I'm doing alright!
imagine this in the RE engine!! wow can't wait for the detailed textures and big scary Dinos in 4k!
yeah it will look like shit as it did back in the day but in 4k though. woo. epic. gross
@@Kannos1600 yet you're on here
@@mrcokez1 yes i am. so i can remind people how shit this series was and it only did so well due to being sold at the right time. it sold during they hype of Dino movies when everyone was into them. It died off due to people realizing, "dinosaurs are cool but not nearly as terrifying as zombies"
@@Kannos1600 haters gotta hate
Kannos1600 it’s always the people with no profile pics that are brain dead
Dino Crisis has always been underrated. Loved this!
Very happy to provide a little 240p ps1 memories!
The lack of some kind of special health gauge is one of the better choices they made. I wish REmake 2 had kept that concept for the Hardcore mode.
I remember renting this as a kid , the music! the jump scares got me so good!, I didn’t get far but I loved it and always remember the feeling of figuring something out and progressing whilst also being scared of what was to come, I haven’t felt that in a long time tbh
the puzzles in this game where hard as hell
Yes they were!
Dino Crisis scared the shit out of me when I was little (born in 1991)
This is definitely a series that takes me back! DC had a unique evolution condensed in a few games.
Fun Fact In 1st RE game there were supposed to be two side characters Gelzer and Dewey , but were scraped , however their character design were kept for Regina's companions Gail and Rick
I knew that was the case for Rick, but looking back, yeah that makes sense for Gail too. I love little nods like that in a game.
what a way to wake up, thanks jared!
Thanks for watching!
@@AvalancheReviews all the time bro
I always loved the setting of this game, the metal hallways, computer rooms, with dinos was marvelous.
I really liked the option of using tranquilizers on dinos.
But the best was that I think this game has more puzzles than re2 and re3.
Those RE videos you made were so good, I will watch anything you put out, man.
I actually preferred DC 1&2 over RE 1&2.
I just thought it was super dope.
That was my favorite era in gaming... because we also got Parasite Eve 1&2 as well, which are SUPER DOPE, as well.
God, I’m old as shit. But I’m still gaming.
I love how Avalanche guy looks like Kratos and sounds like the narrator from The Sandlot.
Your content is pure gaming gold. Great writing!
Most underrated channel of all universe! Keep up the good work and these retrospectives!
"that's disgusting" is the best line in DC
Thank you for these videos, bring back dino crisis with RE engine Capcom !!
I bought an OG xbox just to play dino crisis 3
I felt violated :S
OG Xbox was a good console. Plenty of great 1st party and 3rd party games. Lots of great single player focused games too.
Way better than Xbox One. Xbox One is the end of Xbox.
same here, bought Dino Crisis 3 with Kotor 2 and Halo 2 when i picked up my OG Xbox needless to say Dino Crisis 3 was only played for like 5 minutes until it was put back on the shelf.
I never played it, but even from some of the videos that I've seen on here, it looks to be a piece of crap. One time, I came across a fan who liked this game and dissed _Jurassic World_ by saying it was cheesy. The irony was real then. I mean who would defend that game anyway, especially when it killed off the series?
@@BullworthGraduate to be fair genetically modified space dinosaurs sounds good on paper
@@Grybhaal_Daublebach The problem, of course, is execution. An interesting idea with absolutely TERRIBLE execution.
Never clicked so fast. Your videos have become a must watch.
Ha! Very happy to hear that!
As someone who didn't play Resident Evil games until after I experienced Dino Crisis 1 and 2, I was lucky to not have my impressions tarnished by prior Capcom experiences at the time. The game to me stood out as an incredible experience, terrorizing in every way from the camera claustrophobically following Regina around, the lack of a health bar keeping you paranoid about any hit you take and the amazing music to the strength of the enemies and scarcity of resources. You're almost always at a disadvantage, and the game does a great job at never letting you forget.
I loved the crafting system in the game and never found the menus too challenging to navigate. IIRC you can't sort your inventory on the fly, but you can sort your inventory when using plug boxes - something I probably spent far too much time doing. The puzzles also didn't detract from the game for me save for the fingerprint hunting. Cracking codes to open doors felt amazing.
I've noticed a lot of people over the years giving the game flak for the resuscitation mechanic, but I'm pretty sure most of the critics aren't aware that you get a limited number of retries in the game outside of resuscitations. This might not matter much on low difficulty, but on high difficulty, the choice between upgrading your med kits to resuscitations or keeping them as useable healing items is an interesting one.
Great video man, really enjoyed it. Feeling like I need to try Dino Crisis someday!
Hats off to Jared for having the most soothing voice in survival horror :P
I had no idea that Dino Crisis was survival horror. It looks amazing!
Just the first game. The second and third games are more action-orientated.
Another great video man! can't wait to see more! :) I absolutely love Dino Crisis, as fun as the different spin on the survival horror formula, I got a lot of enjoyment just from looking at the environments. A lot of work went into the mechanical and environmental design, they really knew how to get the best from that hardware!
Yes! Dinocrisis! I never played the original, but I absolutely adored the sequel. Can’t wait for your retrospective on it. Number 3 will be an interesting cover since I remember it being very different from the first two.
If we’re lucky, perhaps one day Capcom will reboot the franchise. Or better yet, maybe even give us a new survival horror IP inspired by the classics.
Oh boy, sweet childhood memories. Capcom please make a Dinl Crisis remake and take my money!
Been following you religiously since your RE retrospective, and now you also cover DC, one of my favorite PSX-era games..??
All the more reason to love your channel.
It’d be nice to see a DC collection rerelease on Switch. All we ever hear is remake this, remake that but these classics shouldn’t be thrown to the side when it comes to availability on modern consoles. Some of us still enjoy playing the tank controlled RE0-RECVX and the Dino Crisis games.
great video... am already exited for the dino crisis 3 retrospective muhaha
You can see they payed homage to RE in the main lobby look and feel 11:10. I was expected a blue art room to be on the other side of that door.
Great video, Jared! I love Regina and is such shame the way this series was treated, by CAPCOM.
Yes finally! Favorite game
😎
I honestly think people are asking for this game to be remade like RE2: REmake more than RE3! XD
It definitely feels that way from all the comments!
I honestly would prefer it than RE3 since 3 just re used aspects of 1 and 2 and didnt add anything amazing. Was the weakest from the all 3.
Would take a Remake of this over RE3 any day of the week. That (for me personally) was the most unmemorable RE game.
Can't we have both?
Yo man this is awesome. One of the most underrated ps1 and capcom series in my honest opinion. Your videos make me excited to play through these games again on my channel.
That means I have done my job well!
Man Avalance I don't know what it is that you are doing but you have been on a roll for the past two years? Keep up the good work!
I do hope they bring it back. It was a great franchise and since Capcom seems to be in a "fanservice" mood it might even be a posibility if people make enough noise
time for one of my favourite series of retrospectives, avalanche reviews retrospectives!
Watching Regina move certainly does separate the men from the boys
Ha! The polygons may have been made up of triangles, but that booty was ROUND
@@AvalancheReviews Indeed! Many 10-13 year olds had crush to Regina back in the days! Jill and Claire aswell! ❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you for doing this retrospective. I played _Dino Crisis_ for the first time last year and I got to say that it was one of the best survival horror games that I've ever played. Probably number two on my list of favorite horror games. Capcom needs to remake this game. With the interest in dinosaurs coming back again after the success of the _Jurassic World_ films, Capcom would be missing out on a golden opportunity to bring this gem back to life.
I've really enjoyed your work so far but I must say I've been looking forward to this. I loved DC 1 & 2 and its great to see your thoughts on the first one. Thank you for taking the time to do this as I appreciate these videos must take a long time to make. Looking forward to your take on the second one!
Man, this game was wild. Excellent work, dude!
Thanks man!
Great work love these reviews really takes me back. Can't wait for the next one.
Another good well though and well written retrospective, keep it up
These are great. Dino Crisis is one of my all time favourite games, I love seeing this in depth discussion
Glad to facilitate that.
Another day, another multi year long retrospective
HA! I try my best
Awesome!!!! Thanks a ton for this retrospective, I love Dino Crisis!
Glad to put a little DC love out there!
Love your content man, polished aesthetic with an honest passion for the games you cover. Kudos! Liked and subbed
Can't wait for the Dino Crisis 2 video. That's one of my favorite, defining games of my childhood and I don't think it has ever gotten the love (or at least the exposure) it deserves on RUclips.
I've always owned this game on PS1 and digitally on PS3/Vita.... And I've never gone through it. Jared you're getting me excited to tackle this one.
I'll add my like, and let the video run, but I can't watch it just yet. Gotta go through it first. Keep up the good work bro!
I can’t wait for you to get to DC3. Always wondered what the hell happened with that game.
Nothing really, it’s a solid game, but because it is difficult to play (no backward compatibility) its story and other aspects have been talked about out of context and rarely from the experience of having played it.
The only “bad” thing about it is the music, too ambient like the original, when it should’ve had more oomph, especially for the epic RE4-like boss battles.
Oliver Surpless
Oh really??? I’ve always heard that it was absolute doo doo butter. The box art makes it look like a Shovelware Wii game as well. I might snag a copy if I see it at CM or something. Thanks.
Kullen64 I originally paid 40 for it in 2008, so hopefully you can find it for a similar price, as I have seen it jump in value over the last few years.
The puzzles could’ve been better, but that is likely from the influence of DC2, which had pretty much none...
@@osurpless You're joking, right? The only "bad" thing is the music?
Not the abysmal camera that half the time doesn't show you the enemies in the room that you're fighting? Not the lower standard enemy variety than Dino Crisis 2? Not the way you can just hop on some small elevated platform during many combat sections and the enemies will rarely be able to do anything to you as you mash shoot to win? Not virtually the entire game taking place in samey gray corridors? Not the platforming sections where it's difficult to tell where platforms are in 3D space and the camera frequently and jarringly changes angles mid-jump? Not the absurdly inane backtracking that's by far the worst the series has seen?
No? Just the music, huh? Okay.
Cheeseman Sure, why not list off the generic complaints (which I already commented were more from heresy than experience) but do it with a dismissive tone as well?
The camera is like any other 3 person game (and identical to Maximo and other Capcom games of the time), so there’s a reason that the jet pack allows you to move so fast and the tracking abilities of the machine gun can be used to find enemies.
The enemy complaint is valid (to a point, as what 3 took from the original was the limited enemy types and puzzles as well), and one area they should’ve aped from 2 better, as they definitely got the bosses right...
Too bad is right on enemy AI, as the gorilla-like enemies in the second part aren’t enough to satisfy when it comes to challenging enemies.
Backtracking as an annoyance is relative, as by that point, much are the Resident Evil series and large sections of the first two DC games must be then disqualified as well.
And specifically on the combat, no one should just stand still in 3rd person action games, and Dino Crisis 3 is no exception. Should the fact that the experience/bounty system can be exploited shortly after the Ankylosaurus boss be a disqualifier as well? People seem to have figured this out when it comes to the new iteration that is the Souls series, so why was it so elusive in the past?
I was surprised this game didnt end up on the mini classic playstation, great retrospective ive watched all the RE and SH ones snd i enjoyed this one too, thank you
Hey there Jared, glad to see a new retrospective just came out.
Dino Crisis is another of those games I've played back when i was a child, really I saw it just as Resident Evil with dinosaurs, but subsequent hours of my time (and some speedrunning later on) made me realize how deep the mechanics evolved from the RE games (resurrection lets you continue right where you die, you can do tranquilizer or poison darts for one shot encounters, etc) although the puzzles never got any easier (the sequel did right in ditching all of those for actiony dino-killer action). Good stuff, I hope to see you this Friday evening mah dog xD
Martin, you know I'll be seeing you Friday! Looking forward to some more DC talk then.
This is one of my top favorite horror games of all times. I have no idea how many times I have finished it on my 1998 Playstation and on the PC.
Best game ever made. Will be buried with a copy of Dino crisis. Dc3 can be cremated
Such a good game and good review! excited to see more vids!
I'd love to see remakes of Dino Crisis 1&2.
Let's pretend 3 never happened
I think we'd all be better off that way
What Dino Crisis 3? I thought the story was already done by Dino Stalker?
@@aryshandono3249 3 has nothing to do with the other games. It's a completely unrelated story. Set in the distant future (even more distant than the time travel future of 2) on a space ship full of mutant dinosaurs.
It's terrible.
@@orinanime I know, that's why I don't consider it exist XD
....OH HELL YEAH!!!! This retrospective is gonna kick ass!
Honestly, I always though DC was just RE but way, WAY harder, with less bullets. Dinosaurs made me panic a lot more than zombies just due to their ferocity.
Avalanche Reviews is a.......
FLORIDA MAN!!!!
Anyway, great video man!
The T-Rex encounter in the chief's office scared the living shit out of me as a kid, didn't finish the game until years later lol
Liked before I watched, yupp.
Cheers mr. Avalanche🍻
Cheers, my friend and thanks for checking it out
Dino Crisis is a game me and my father played through so much that he ended up remembering all the codes. I played through DC2 so much I caj probably speedrun it and get a decent time. DC3 is a good game story wise, but fuck the gameplay. Otherwise, I like it as well. I love this series so much
Dino Crisis 2 is still a big favourite of mine. Looking forward to this retrospective :D
Having played all 3 seeing this again makes me nostalgic. The first game IMO is still the best. I still to this day love that Dino roar as you press start and save room theme!
I want to agree since the first is the most survival horror game in the series, but I think 2 is my favorite.
Dino Crisis is a blast, always a good time going back to it
Another great video man. Glad you're taking a break from RE and covering a series that is in no way similar at all, not even in the slightest. Nice to get a change of pace.
Ha! My thought exactly
I absolutely agree with the point you made here regarding the self-contained nature of the game and its story and the merits of such an approach. In my mind, sequel hooks and setups that are 'too' sprawling for their own good always undermine the feeling of satisfaction a game can give you.
Been looking forward to this one. Thanks avalanche!!
Thanks for checking it out!
don't know such a soothing voice can come out of death metal guy until now...
Glad to see you continuing the series. You do great work. On the topic of Dino Crisis- I didn’t play it until 2016. I love Resident Evil, but something about DC felt off. It didn’t scratch the same itch. Rolled my eyes every time I saw another of the puzzles. And for how ineffective ammo was, they sure seem to give Dinos a big hit box to run around. Fine game, just didn’t reach Resident Evil status.
Excellent vid. Ditto for DC2. The 3rd one is a bit of a joke. It is also widely claimed to have ended the series.
The dinosaurs can follow Regina into rooms if she is bleeding
I was really looking forward to this retrospective :D Dino Crisis is an old series close to my heart. Looking forward to Dino C 2's video (mercenaries mode: the game)
I love this game so much, the story was convoluted as hell but gameplay provided so many thrills😂
I saw you upload this earlier and I wanted to watch, but I was too damn tired. Now that I'm fully awake however, I'm definitely looking forward to how you approach 2 and... to a lesser extent, 3. Hope you have fun on your way through this series!
I can't wait to get my video on DC2 out! I still love that game!
@@AvalancheReviews Yeah it's probably one of the few horror games with the action aspect done right back in the day. And it offered so much replay value too!
Regina was my first ever videogame crush and still one of my favourite characters ever.I'd love a dc remake but if they cut out or changed regina at all I'd be beyond pissed.
I always liked how the T. Rex in this game and many other works that involve dinosaurs, Always seems to sound like a tractor trailer truck with really bad breaks 🤣🤣
The music gave me more of an heart attack than the dinos, this game is art
This game needs a remake. And chances are, I'm gonna get my wish... right after Capcom makes Resident Evil 8 and remakes Resident Evil 3... -_-
Pirelli913 Have you played RE3make yet?
Have you played re8 yet?
One of the coziest channels around
This is the best compliment ever
I still absolutely love Dino Crisis 1 and 2. The moment I saw 3 was in space with jetpacks and...well, everything else it had, I knew I needed to steer clear.
Another fine classic game that I loved just as much as RE 2, quality content by the way.
