This video looks at how to do the rubber shock top on a Mk 4 Ford Mondeo 2008 we have done other videos on this Mondeo for the shop and plastic shock top handy tips and tricks inside the video hope it helps like share and subscribe and don't forget get your hands dirty
Hm ,maybe it just didn't show on the video ,but there is 4 linking up marks to b obeyed,I can't see it being done here,I think old concentric was being stressed by not being lined up and probably the new one also, there's a nick on the spring base of the strut, this has to line up with the 2marks on the upper and lower half a of the new bearing ,which also needs to line up with a nick or Hole on the top plate, other wise u get all sorts of noise and steering problems,,like none self centering ,noises from the top plate ,tramlines, hope this helps solve future problems 👍
There are a lot of mistakes.
Why hold the damper rod so rough. At the top there is a hole for a hexagon.
You forgot to put the bump stop. You forgot to put a rubber damper under the spring.
Very sorry...
The problem with the bump stop is he never fitted it into the top bearing holder. (And he did the same thing when he replaced the shock absorber as subject of an earlier video. It’s on the car but it is sitting loose at the bottom of the shock absorber Rod and gaiter. You could argue it would still do the job of preventing the spring and shock from bottoming out, but it’s not correct.
Some other folk suggesting that the 15mm pinch bolt that holds the shock absorber into the hub assembly can be seized and very difficult to remove, if so then alternative is to remove strut and hub assembly as one unit.
Did my mondeo shocks and wishbones yesterday and 95% of it went ok apart from getting top nut off the strut. Absolute nightmare. ended up drilling down the middle of the nut and it came off by hand.
Dougie Hornsby oh the joys being a mechanic been there done that I feel your pain
Wow.. Greta stuff!
Spinning balls with rubber on top🤣🤣🤣 👍
Nicely done
Thanks mate
very funny, i have done this myself and it never works, but its funny almost everything you did came off lol, never work with animals kids and mondeo's lol
lol
what twangs under left foot on mondeo4
All good until he puts the grips in the shock shaft what will leave marks in the metal that when traveling trought the shocks rubber seals will destroy them...
Filipe Gomes just another keyboard warrior like explaining the video it's too far up on the shock it is impossible for the shock to travel that far down to break the Seals you utter muppet you need to watch this video and put your money where your mouth is ruclips.net/video/n02vKSh8oVA/видео.html
and the fact that he didn't put the rubber ring where the spring sits on the bearing, it's called anti-squeak pad.
In his defense the portion of the shaft will never reach the seals so no issues there but it's not by the book.
I have mondeo rear suspension noise, shocker tops changed, new springs, still the same clunking/knocking noise over mildly rough surface.,sub-frame bushes maybe?
Any advice?
hi mate look at the rear d bushes and drop links they can make that kind of noise hope this helps thanks for watching
nice work
Thanks mate
Looks like hes had a new caliper on it aswell!
I think they are rebuilding that car for him piece by piece.
