Sonic X (Japanese) has its titular character down pat; characters are basically themselves and that matters more to me than what mis/adventures they go through; also gives viewers the best version of "Dark" Sonic which is literally just beast/nature mode and not a corrupted form. I couldn't even watch Prime past the first episode knowing they wrote Sonic as a dunce.
I think the reason Shadow can't enter gateways is because Sonic has the prism energy inside his body but Shadow doesn't and the reason the chaos Council can enter gateways is because they also have prism energy but Shadow doesn't have any prism energy at all he just had Chaos emerald energy before he lost it and it is so stupid that they never had all of the chaos emeralds and they never had Sonic and Shadow go super and they never explain how Shadow got the green one back from the void.

In terms of the meaning behind the fights, sure. Sonic Boom and Sonic Prime focus on different types comedy. Very few Sitcoms have anything worth watching, Sonic Boom is a full on sitcom, Sonic Prime is a comedic narrative adventure.

You also made a very good point. The writers clearly didn't know what else to do, so they just... gave up basically. There are many other problems I have with the season, but we would be here all day. Overall, this show was mediocre. Season 1 was meh, Season 2 was a somewhat improvement, but it all went crumbling down with Season 3. Absolutely the worst season of the show and a horrible conclusion to end it off at.
I can respect your opinion on that. I am not really impressed by Season 3, but I've seen stories with really horrible writing that made Season 3 look like a walk in the park.
I'm always all ears to hear the things that you didn't enjoy about something. The first episode was good enough, everything that happened after was just terrible and progressively got worse. I agree that Part 3 was undeniably the worst of Sonic Prime, I'd take more non-canon nonsense over this play-it-safe-and-do-nothing-impactful style of writing that they went with. Honestly surprised that this left the writing room, I can only imagine what other drafts the writing team came up with before they finally agreed on this one. The decision to animate the sprites and not get actual animators was definitely ridiculous, but the sprite animations have been bad since Part 1 so that's more of an overall negative to the show. It's really unfortunate that so much potential is constantly wasted, especially for a major franchise like Sonic, which by now should not be struggling at all to find it's footing, they should have discovered what works and what doesn't by now.
To be honest, l didn't initially to those minors mistakes, but l just assumed the series would fix himself over time.. However, as you point out the issues even more (including this bit), it makes me asking about how NO ONE on the production crew questioned about these decision made for this canonic series! And don't get me started on the writing, l mean they are moments where the characters would actually say something clever or witty like their game counterparts act, and then in the rest they would revert back to their original prime stupidity again. And l'm like: "Did a new writer just came in the room accidently?" And the ending, my goodness the ending.. Not only does this ending did the same thing that Nine feared it would happen to him, but also the show never addresses this forward. Like what happened to the characters? Are they dead? Or did they returned to their own worlds? If they did returned, did they got the time travel treatment as well? Is Nine gonna be bullied again? This is the problem with using this suppose "solution" to resolve the problem, when it actually creates another one in the progress! But whatever, about that cliffhanger, wouldn't care less. At least it's not as major or important as the rest of this series.
I've noticed in Sonic media how, in the rare cases when Sonic and Tails clash, Sonic always holds back because he doesn't really want to hurt Tails. This is maybe the best reason he's ever had to punch Tails, or a version of him, in the face, but all he does is just talk in circles with him.
A verbal fight between Sonic and Tails makes more sense than the two battling each other. Nine should have eventually been considered so far removed from Tails in Sonic’s mind, however the story just didn’t have time to develop that rift, so we just get the two disagreeing with something and Nine decides to kill everybody.
Im surprised you don’t have more attention on your channel seeing as your videos are so high quality! But anyway this season was incredibly rushed I feel, they were in the same place 99.9% of the season, they fought robots for over half of the show, and the final episode felt so unfulfilling. One thing has baffled me the most about this show, and I would love to find the answer. Who the hell thought Sonic never listened to his friends and took them for granted? I've looked back at all the games before Advance 3, and I don't see a single moment of him acting like that. This description describes Shadow way more in the IDW comics ( and in a certain issue you'll come across soon. Holy shit, he's so bad ) Sometimes, Sonic is slightly selfish in Prime, but he doesn't start as a selfish jerk who needs to go through an arc. The main problem is that he is STUPID. You've described it better than I ever could. He is just a moron in this show. And then to claim that this version of him is canon? Like...wtf??? Did the creators of this show honestly think that Sonic has always been this way? Or did they somehow get away with making their wet dream Sonic fanfiction into the official canon? "he doesn't listen to his friends." - He doesn't? Since when? I remember the scene where he and Tails conduct a plan on the ARK, and you don't see him ignoring his friend or running off because he's a dickhead. "He takes them for granted." - I find that statement insulting. We all know he has never done this, but the most recent example I can praise is when Sonic was going through the worst pain of his life because of the cyber-corruption in Frontiers. We have never seen him in so much agony before, so much that he could barely MOVE. And yet he still pushed on. As Sage said, "Both of us are determined to protect those who are precious to us." Sorry for the rant, but that is the thing that bothered me the most. I can handle a few inconsistencies, I can handle some errors and slight character tweaks, but if you mess up my boy, you fucked up. I really wanted to love this show. I hoped we would finally get a decent, or amazing Sonic show. I am very disappointed and even a little sad about it. I didn't want to hate it, and I'm VERY tempted to become a story consultant or one of the writers on a Sonic show. Because I can't take it when people think our blue boy is only for kids and destroy his character for it. Either these people genuinely thought they had created something amazing and didn't realize they had made mistakes, or they believe kids are stupid. Anyway, great video.
Oh boy, I have many problems with Sonic Prime too. If Sonic Prime wasn't canon, it'd be perfectly fine. But, Sonic Prime looks like a masterpiece when compared to Portal 2, which has the worst writing I've ever seen, and is my most hated game ever.

Such as the visual glitch. Two of the major problems I pointed out was the pacing of the war and how important it is to have actual narratives playing out. I didn’t like Part 1 of Sonic Prime and nearly quit the show due to the pacing. Part 2 brought me back in with some interesting moments, the story was a step up from part 1, but still was pretty terribly written. Part 3 starts okay, but instead of eight episodes, they only had seven episodes so it’s inherently going to be shorter, and they need to figure out how they’re going to wrap it all up very quickly. I’m surprised that they didn’t make episode seven an hour long like episode one, and just have the final battle in that hour. That would have gave them just enough time to set everything up, figure out who’s on whose side, and what the characters are supposed to be doing throughout the battle and before the battle. Instead what we got was the heroes blitzing The Grim without so much as a single plan, and wining because none of the characters are capable of actually taking any damage, not even a bruise. Extremely disappointing show overall.

In a kid's show they can put characters out of commission, and even have characters die. It's more often the case that something being made for kids is used to attract a general audience. Many shows will use allusions to death, or will simply replace deaths with injuries or an inconvenience that leaves a character unable to participate.
You got to take what the show tells you at face value. If they say the entire population was saved and inside the yoke, then they were. Nine having a kill count, while theoretically possible, is not what was written, so it’s not what happened. It’s bad writing, but it’s what was wrote. They can’t animate an entire city’s population. So for the sake of argument, let’s say that Everyone in the final battle is the population of those worlds. And when Nine restored the shatterverses, he restored everything in them. Like how the entire population of Green Hill was restored as well at the end. Also I’m surprised you never mentioned how Nine was gonna back down after Sonic talked to him before everyone showed up to fight him. It’s clear as day, that one. Just thought I’d mention it.
Your entire first paragraph is exactly what I’m talking about, if it’s bad writing i’m pointing it out, I don’t take shows at face value, I’m gonna question the decision to write something a specific way. I don’t remember anybody ever saying that the entire city was saved either, is that something I missed perhaps? They don’t need to animate an entire city’s population, all they have to do is make it clear it’s not just 4 people walking around, there are plenty of animation tricks to achieve this. As for Nine killing people, unless the entire city was somehow saved by 8 people, there are some deaths, it’s an unavoidable and obvious conclusion to tilting an entire city. Had they said everybody was saved I would’ve openly laughed at them, Man of Action loses that fight either way by tilting the city. Man of Action left open ended questions, so to assume that everybody is revived is weird if we never see it, it’s why I ask if nine can even revive people he’s never even met. Green Hill is a walking contradiction in its entire recreation, right down to the reset of its timeline to the misplacement of the Ghosts counterparts in Ghost Hill, it’s the blueprint for everything, yet also has two moments in time. I did touch on Nine willing to end the war with Sonic as it happened, and even made a mention of how Sonic knew that all Nine wants is him to end the war.
@@kotytang When they were letting in “the riff raff” as the Chaos Council calls them, I’m pretty sure that Sonic asks Rouge if that’s everybody. It was around the same time he realized the pirates were missing. When Nine tilted the world, he showed actual concern for the citizens in his face when he saw some hanging for their lives. While it was a show of power to try to convince Sonic to give up because “He can’t save them all” he was still feeling guilty about it. And right after it shows the resistance popping up and saving everyone that Sonic couldn’t. By kid show logic, this means that Sonic proved Nine wrong and that he COULD save them all, he just needed help from his friends. Again, kid show logic, which is how this world functions.
@@JumperTV33 Sonic realizes that Black Rose’s crew is missing while counting the civilians. He never asks anybody if all of the citizens are there. Nine sure is upset about hurting people, that doesn’t change what he does. Also, obviously Nine didn’t kill anybody in the show. The ridiculousness of the scene is that it would kill people, and to pretend that everybody walked away perfectly fine is the logical flaw that I’m pointing out. Do you actually think that I believe anybody truly died in this show while also pointing out that not a single hero is harmed in any way?

If you didn’t notice the points I was making in the video it’s because you already checked out from the show, everything I pointed out was presented directly to the audience, I didn’t look for obscure things to criticize except for two-three(?) digs to poke fun. Such as the visual glitch.
Two of the major problems I pointed out was the pacing of the war and how important it is to have actual narratives playing out. What things would you say are more important in part 3 that I should have been pointing out?

I actually liked S1 and S2 but
For me S3 dropped the ball so hard
Episode 1,2, and 3 (Beside that horrendous Advance 3 Reference) were decently okay for me
But then everything after that is god awful
Shadow was shafted so hard throughout the whole Series, Sonic’s Characterization is awful (Giving him a character arc is cool but it clearly ain’t executed well here)
So many mindless robot fights, Honestly all of these boring robots make me appreciate Chaos Sonic even more cause at least he had a personality and wasn’t overused

Mid show
I didn’t like Part 1 of Sonic Prime and nearly quit the show due to the pacing.
Part 2 brought me back in with some interesting moments, the story was a step up from part 1, but still was pretty terribly written.
Part 3 starts okay, but instead of eight episodes, they only had seven episodes so it’s inherently going to be shorter, and they need to figure out how they’re going to wrap it all up very quickly. I’m surprised that they didn’t make episode seven an hour long like episode one, and just have the final battle in that hour. That would have gave them just enough time to set everything up, figure out who’s on whose side, and what the characters are supposed to be doing throughout the battle and before the battle.
Instead what we got was the heroes blitzing The Grim without so much as a single plan, and wining because none of the characters are capable of actually taking any damage, not even a bruise.
Extremely disappointing show overall.
@@kotytang Okay, I can see why you didn't like the show. I liked it at certain points but the pacing and parts of the writing are rather bad for me. I didn't despise Sonic's charactisation but it's not good enough for me to enjoy.
37:25 well this show is made for 7+ ages so sadly they can't do that.
In a kid's show they can put characters out of commission, and even have characters die.
It's more often the case that something being made for kids is used to attract a general audience. Many shows will use allusions to death, or will simply replace deaths with injuries or an inconvenience that leaves a character unable to participate.
I hope Sega keeps partnering with Wildbrain to animate furure 3D Sonic stuff but they better never hire Man of Action EVER again.

Well, Sonic Prime Season 3 may not be nearly as badly written as Portal 2, but it still has so many problems.
You got to take what the show tells you at face value. If they say the entire population was saved and inside the yoke, then they were. Nine having a kill count, while theoretically possible, is not what was written, so it’s not what happened. It’s bad writing, but it’s what was wrote. They can’t animate an entire city’s population.
So for the sake of argument, let’s say that Everyone in the final battle is the population of those worlds. And when Nine restored the shatterverses, he restored everything in them. Like how the entire population of Green Hill was restored as well at the end.
Also I’m surprised you never mentioned how Nine was gonna back down after Sonic talked to him before everyone showed up to fight him. It’s clear as day, that one. Just thought I’d mention it.
Your entire first paragraph is exactly what I’m talking about, if it’s bad writing i’m pointing it out, I don’t take shows at face value, I’m gonna question the decision to write something a specific way. I don’t remember anybody ever saying that the entire city was saved either, is that something I missed perhaps?
They don’t need to animate an entire city’s population, all they have to do is make it clear it’s not just 4 people walking around, there are plenty of animation tricks to achieve this.
As for Nine killing people, unless the entire city was somehow saved by 8 people, there are some deaths, it’s an unavoidable and obvious conclusion to tilting an entire city. Had they said everybody was saved I would’ve openly laughed at them, Man of Action loses that fight either way by tilting the city.
Man of Action left open ended questions, so to assume that everybody is revived is weird if we never see it, it’s why I ask if nine can even revive people he’s never even met.
Green Hill is a walking contradiction in its entire recreation, right down to the reset of its timeline to the misplacement of the Ghosts counterparts in Ghost Hill, it’s the blueprint for everything, yet also has two moments in time.
I did touch on Nine willing to end the war with Sonic as it happened, and even made a mention of how Sonic knew that all Nine wants is him to end the war.
@@kotytang When they were letting in “the riff raff” as the Chaos Council calls them, I’m pretty sure that Sonic asks Rouge if that’s everybody. It was around the same time he realized the pirates were missing.
When Nine tilted the world, he showed actual concern for the citizens in his face when he saw some hanging for their lives. While it was a show of power to try to convince Sonic to give up because “He can’t save them all” he was still feeling guilty about it. And right after it shows the resistance popping up and saving everyone that Sonic couldn’t. By kid show logic, this means that Sonic proved Nine wrong and that he COULD save them all, he just needed help from his friends. Again, kid show logic, which is how this world functions.
@@JumperTV33 Sonic realizes that Black Rose’s crew is missing while counting the civilians. He never asks anybody if all of the citizens are there.
Nine sure is upset about hurting people, that doesn’t change what he does. Also, obviously Nine didn’t kill anybody in the show. The ridiculousness of the scene is that it would kill people, and to pretend that everybody walked away perfectly fine is the logical flaw that I’m pointing out.
Do you actually think that I believe anybody truly died in this show while also pointing out that not a single hero is harmed in any way?

@@JumperTV33 Because he still destroyed every world, put everybody just existing as citizens in life threatening danger, deleted multiple people, wanted to kill Sonic for his energy, and kill everybody else with robots, the fact that him tilting New Yoke would have logically killed people is just an extra addition.
Portal 2 has the worst writing I've ever seen, but I won't deny that there are many problems with this season.
Also, it's a show for four year olds, jeez, come on, relax
Such a low comparison to say it's for kids (even lower to say it's for 4 year olds) when there's gumball or gravity fall as a great example of good writing as a kid show

@@kotytang i don't give a cloud Cuckoo land. This show was never good. This was clearly a cream level adventure but she wasn't in It at all. Using only the popular characters just feels so BLAND and natural. Especially sonic. Why can't we have a sonic game without sonic? We got a SpongeBob episode without SpongeBob.
