If you would like to see more of Fresno, please let me know what part of the city. Street, address or Land Marks would be helpful. I will try my best to capture it. Remember to SUBSCRIBE + BELL, that way you won't miss your request.
In this video: we heading into downtown Fresno exited off freeway 41.
If you have been here, please share some of your experience with every one in the comment section below. (Are you still living in Fresno, or how long have you moved out away from Fresno?)
    ABOUT FRESNO CALIFORNIA:
Fresno is a city in and the county seat of Fresno County, California, United States.
it is located in the San Joaquin Valley, very near the geographical center of California.
As of February 2020, the population of Fresno is about 535,000 people. It is the 5th most populous city in California, the most populous inland city in California, and the 34th most populous city in the United States.
The city covers a total area of 297 square kilometers (115 square miles).
The average altitude is 94 metres (308 feet) above sea level.
The original inhabitants of the San Joaquin Valley region were the Yokuts people and Miwok people.
When the California Gold Rush began, the area saw a sudden increase in population, beginning in 1848.
Although a large number of people came to the area, it was not officially settled until the late 1860s, and a city was officially founded in 1872.
The city was settled in a area abundant with white ash trees. In Spanish, Fresno means ash tree.

Your first right turn showed the little street, Diamond, where I spent the first years of my life. As you continued west on fresno st the next few years are shown, I actually grew up in downtown during the fifties. Wonderful Christmas decorations on every building and every corner and all year we had “dragging the main” on Fulton street as soon as I got my license. Going east on Ventura was another adventure in my history and then your turn north took us right by the front doors of the federal building which is the location of the water tower and the old front door of the boarding house my grandmother ran. The brick building with the white trim is the Malbridge Apts. one of several building with a penthouse on its roof. Then you turned north on Fulton which is the “main drag” of which I earlier spoke. In the sixties Fulton was turned into a walking mall which caused many business to move north taking the heart out of the downtown business culture. Magnificent is the Warner’s theatre on your right as you head north. The Warner’s showed Bella Lagosi inDracula as one of its early offerings, of course it once was an opera house and hosted all of the performing stars of the day. You did the loop and headed back to the south past the Californian Hotel and on the left Bud Bairds parking garage and the back north past the tallest building in town, the Security Bank building. It’s not all there was downtown but it’s past is well represented. Thank you for the tour. Mac.

Fresno is definitely one of the least expensive big towns (500,000+) in California in which to live. Also, nearby Visalia (40 miles south) has a very popular downtown that's actually safe even at night: Lots of restaurants, and a ton of people walking about in downtown Visalia--and just as inexpensive as Fresno.

"Fancy Fresno" I just stopped into town a few days ago it is such a lovely place and the Fulton district was clean and lovely. I think a farmers market was going on when I went. Also the rents look promising so I might make the move and work remotely once I finish my computer science undergrad in SF. The amtrak and megabuses make SF very easy to visit on a friday it appears. Fresno downtown looks also very promising like the early days of Austin, Texas in 2010s. The Riverstone mini downtown nearby was also nice as my sister has finally settled into that area recently in search of a little more bigger home at a reasonable price in California terms.

Yes, the summers are hot, but they're not as terrible as summers in Las Vegas or Phoenix which have even hotter temperatures for longer periods than Fresno. The spring and fall months have beautiful weather, and the winters are mild compared to those in the Eastern U.S. And you never have to worry about tornadoes or hurricanes--yes, earthquakes happen, but they too rarely topple buildings or cause deaths. I would never live in hurricane or tornado states: those storms routinely devastate areas and take too many lives every year unlike the earthquakes in the Western states.

Yeah we Californians do love our luxury ie the latest Mercedes/Teslas, Designer/preppy clothes, and yes malls haha. The only thing we need to fix asap is cleaning up our off ramps, highways, roads, housing fellow californians, and also reducing crime via watching out for our neighbors and reporting suspicious activity. These challenges we will overcome to truly make california even more richer all around in experience etc. Imagine if they painted the freeway overpasses chrome gold or added art? Biggest thing is we need to make education the #1 priority statewide to make sure 18 year olds already have a bachelors and can work in a high paying job/programmer and leave the mcdonald jobs to expats from other countries.

I’m 23 and was born and raised here. I see it difficult in the future to even stay here though as a lot of people from the Bay Area and Los Angeles have started to move in and price us out as they work remotely. Realistically, a salary in fresno usually doesn’t go above $70k unless you are a business owner or a high skilled trade worker. We can’t compete with literal Bay Area salaries. As we reach the endemic phase of the pandemic, I hope every one is sent back to the office so we are no longer priced out. There is enough competition with locals.

    • @ramonw9430
      @ramonw9430 2 года назад

@@southsacstandup2549 No, unfortunately, he's right about the crime. The only other city with a higher murder rate right now is Oakland and they go back and forth for the no. 1 spot year to year. The only other major cities in California that have had similar years in terms of murders and crime are Compton, Watts, Stockton, Bakersfield, and Richmond. But Fresno rivaled Compton in the '90s for murder and violent crimes so I'm not sure why a lot of people don't think of Fresno as being a high-crime city. Maybe because it's surrounded by farmland or because the nice parts of the city can be quite nice. I've noticed people who live in areas like Clovis, Woodward, Fig Garden, etc., tend to have a very different view of the city and I'm pretty sure it's because they don't have to live or work in those "high-risk" areas as they are a good six or seven miles away from them. Or maybe because in recent years the crime has been a little closer to the state average, although still higher than average. But the city, as well as the countryside, are full of abject poverty and when times get tough (ie, pandemic shutdown, EDD stalls, deaths in the family) some people turn to crime to earn a living. Many people have been disappeared out in those orchards. And Fresno has 2 to 4 times the murder rate of every other large city in California aside from Oakland. Here's a link to an article on the Fresno murder rate compared to other cities in California if you are interested in reading it for yourself: abc30.com/fresno-violence-murders-murder-rate/10445972/
