Great video!. Gotta say--as a former Alinsky style organizer during the 70s--McAlevy's three principles come right out of a grass roots organizer's manual including mine. Really, it's just an extension of mass power tactics. Once you establish BIG, absolutely necessary to keep on the pressure, TRANSPARENT AND OPEN follow naturally. As McAlevy says, it's the power building approach. Still its good to get a reminder.
I love unions. That being said, they aren’t all great. I was part of WSFE for over 13 years starting at 19 years old. They gave up on us. I just quit to go back to school and start over because they are putting a lot of caregivers in danger with clients who shouldn’t be in the community. But I guess money talks and we are forgotten. So many others have it so much worse and all I can say is quit. Screw them and get out. It’s hard, but if that’s how they want to be then just walk out. Let them fail and learn that we are people with lives
How can you form a union when you’re 60 years old, live in a rural area & unemployed? Not everyone lives in cities. Not everyone is young. If I had been able to be in a union, my whole working life would have been entirely better. It’s too late for me.
Those should be adopted by any slate that is running for local union leadership. Let the members be involved

This is how my union operates and it definitely works. It empowers workers and is a valuable bargaining tactic.
