      So the fact someone may not agree with your views concerning unions, you resort to name calling, typical. Do you use the same tactic when it comes to different religious beliefs or political views from yours?? It's ok to agree to disagree.

      You need to have at least 30% of your workplace sign authorizion cards in order for the NLRB to host a secret ballot election. The reason being is it costs money to host such elections and the NLRB wants to make sure there is a genuine interest in unionizing as not to waste tax payers money unnecessarily.

    Got asked to join the electrical union last week. Minutes prior to the invitation, the Foreman explained how the current project is 2 months behind schedule, over budget by $100k (and growing). Subordinates are so incompetent the turnover rate on this job is obscene. Lastly, they took a vote last week to get paid more and it passed…
    I don’t know any other organization that provides raises to a failing job-site. We compared California wages and these guys make roughly $30k more total package (insurance, 401K, and paycheck).

      I’m sorry about this, but these risks are always there when unionising. I say you try and fight them since it is your right to unionise and you can at least cost them some money that way but other than than nothing can be done. But don’t give up hope on unions, there are methods to make sure this stuff doesn’t happen and when executed right the rewards are incredible. Secrecy is key, and if you don’t trust someone don’t bring it up around them. Only go public after the union is majority strong and hopefully has a big union backing it.

    What about companies such as Delivery companies? We are classified as “independent contractors” we have no benefits, no retirement plans and no protection from being fired or in this case removed from the app which is equivalent to being fired. When they pause your account is the equivalent of being suspended and with out pay.???

    • @josesalcedo3724

      Not to mention they can control your income by not sending you any offers at all no matter how many hours you are active on the app. There are times I only made $7 an hour bing active on the app 11 hour. Being active on the app is the equivalent of punching in, on a 9 to 5 job.

They get away with this shit and it has to stop.

    • @ramonaof12thdimension13
      @ramonaof12thdimension13 2 года назад +16

      Very wrong. A Union is made up by and run by the workers and negotiates for higher wages, better benefits, better working conditions, and sometimes shorter hours on behalf of workers. The dues go towards organizing strikes (labors biggest weapon against capital), health benefits, and organizing other workerplaces as well, usually in the same industry or in the same company in a different area.

      So no blame should go to the greedy corporations right? We shouldn't even try to fight them for fair pay and a good workplace? Because if we do open our mouths then they will just move to china and we won't have any jobs... That's a risk I. Willing to take. I work for. Company that produces nearly half of all trucking engines in north America. They make tons of money. Yet they mistreat their workers. And the pay is hardly more than Walmart or fast food! So I guess of the union causes them to pick up and leave... We really aren't out that damn much.
