Please don’t take this the wrong way but you are exactly what Land Rover now cater for, they’ve turned their backs on the customers who have made them what they are unfortunately...this new toy wouldn’t last 5 minutes with how we use Land Rovers! Just out of curiosity..Have you ever driven or even sat in a real defender before buying this? Anyway, great video and I’d happily watch more of you and the Pretender... take care.
Yes I have sat in an original one and hated it. Felt very unsafe to be honest, I think a lot of people are stuck in their old ways and as soon as these come out second hand a lot of these farmers will have them. It is quite offensive to say I’m exactly what they cater for actually as you don’t have a clue who I am so I don’t agree with that.
Annie R I think my favourite aesthetic are the rear lights too, I bet in three years they’ll do facelift and they’ll change the lights to clear rather than red plastic.
@@AnnieRobinsonx I'm sorry about that, it's just that the new Defender is a disappointment. JLR had a quite a good plan with building up 3 families of Land and Range Rovers. The Range Rover family looking after the image and status conscious aimed mainly at on road use, unfortunately the Range Rover, RR Sport and RR Velar are difficult to differentiate, the Evoque is currently still slightly distinguishable from the others in the RR family. The Discovery family for the more practical applications with balanced on and off road competence, here the Disco 1-4 were very good, but the 5 has turned out to be more of a Range Rover and from looks also appears to have aligned itself with this family as has the Disco Sport. The Defender family was then the utilitarian family, all I can say is that at least it has quite distinctive looks, and I do actually quite like the vehicle, but it is no way utilitarian and is more a replacement for the Disco 4, albeit with not such commanding seating in either the front or rear. The Defender does not really cover any additional ground or differentiate itself from the rest of the RR/LR range. It will cannibalise Discovery sales. All RR and LR vehicles are overly complicated, not especially spacious, too on road and image orientated. This vehicle is no longer suitable for serious off road or overlanding, nor for military or hard NGO use with all those superfluous electronics and gadgets and no possibility to fit high profile tyres. I have worked in the automotive industry for over 30 years and know that you cannot standstill and a lot of the electronics and other developments are absolutely necessary in a modern vehicle. As I mentioned I do actually like the vehicle but I think it has missed target as a "Defender".
Great 1st car vid Annie. I would not be happy with farnel plastered all over the spare tyre and rear window though. How about a off road capability video 👍
Nice review. If I was being a little critical I would suggest mentioning the spec model why you chose it. What extras are added on top of the standard and why. How does it ride with the bigger wheels on. It would be interesting to know the cost with all extras on. Keep it up👍
Apart from missing out a few specs like knowing the size of the alloys, engine, mpg road and road tax haha however was a very good review and can see this has been very popular for your channel. Be good to see you try off road as well hahe and also how’s the air suspension
Like I said in the intro it’s from my point of view so it was more to show people round the car rather than describe it when most people watching will already have an idea of those things but it’s 23” alloys from Overfinch, 2L diesel 240BHP, getting about 26MPG but hopefully be nearer 30 as I do mostly urban driving. Anything else I included the website with the full spec on so take a look on there.
The old version was much more aggressive. I’m from Srilanka and the country fell in love with the old defender instantly. This new one looks good for babysitting. So sad. Where all the men went!!!!
Change the spare wheel cover running around with an advert for the local dealer spoils the overall look of the car. Go for all black or one with just the land rover oval in the centre.
Annie R , nice review thank you, 26MPG, TAX I wouldn't even like to guess how much that would be, would be nice to know as I own a1994 Defender the original 110 300tdi 24 years old averaging 27MPG urban and around town, tax is a small £265 a year, how long you had it and what are your thoughts now?, having owned my current defender for the last 10 years personally I wouldnt swap mine for the new one, simply because way too much electronics that can go wrong with the new ones, 85 ECU's per vehicle thats a lot of possible faults that can chew big holes in your piggy bank, hopefully in your case that won't be an issue for a few years, but wear and tear affects every car new and old, however, i am biased towards the old model due to its simplicity, but I will say the new models are nice, but to be fair I wouldn't want one, heres hoping you have many years of trouble free motoring, but knowing the reliability issues with land rover you probably won't.
What ridiculous wheels! Reducing air pressure for soft mud and sand will be fun and the driver is going to be more worried about „ruining“ the nice black rims than getting to the destination! Many have said that the 2020 Defender is really a replacement for the Disco 4 rather than the old Defender, I tend to agree. I hope that at least 18“ wheels will fit, I have no hope that 17 or 16 will fit so it is going to be difficult getting decent offroad tyres.
It is not s defender in the traditional sense of the word just another suv with unwanted gadgets and nondescript "upgraded luxury" , something that never impresses those well off customers with taste

Hi Annie, really enjoyed your video. What make and size are the wheels please?
Well done ! Simple review of all the popular things that are needed as well and no fancy top gear mixed words!! 👍
Thanks Paul! Appreciate the positivity 😁
Queen annie with Royal Defender
Annie, that is a gorgeous car, in a very posh version, congratulations! And enjoy!
Dream car!!! the ‘stuff’ on the bonnet is called chequer plating. Looking forward to seeing an off roading video

Best have a look at the new Grenadier.
Harvey Smith you are not wrong. I have already registered to be in queue to order one.
Harvey Smith the Grenadier May not be a Defender but it won’t be a Pretender lol
Very nice. Defender meets Discovery and a bit Freelander
Well done Annie. Congrats..
Congrats swtie, I love your simplicity 👌👌
Says it all really....what the Defender has become....bring on Ineos Grenadier.
so true lol
Don’t underestimate the car. Shame it’s become a fashion accessory.

Such an amazing car annie
God bless you with a new defender....
Did you change those wheels annie?
OGAN Waluyo yes they are not the ones they come with.

Adam Bodenham good job it isn’t your car then isn’t it Adam love 😂
Stunning car, does it have wireless phone charging under the centre console?
It’s an option but standard on the defender X
The car is beautiful. Hope you enjoy it
Beautiful Defender.

What is the £ value of the car? In Australia we are still waiting for pricing information or even a car to test drive.
It's looks so beautiful and very classic so I loved its too same with you.
I love the car in black, good luck keeping it clean though.
Yes black cars matter ( joke ). But looking closely loads of luxurious car turn to be chosen on black colour ., to reflect the chic touch of it ...
Fantastic, well done from Australia 😃❤️🇦🇺
Nice... ❤️
is this the new kia element. or pretender.
Nice. Keep up 👍

Emission control and more powerful engine
what's the size of those wheels ? 20 or 22
They are 23 😊
Annie you have got the best black colour, it's beautiful at Night.
The boot opens outwards ive seen enough
That just too much for you Robert 😂
Is this launch in India
What version is this? SE, HSE or X? Thx
The SE but got a lot of options 😊

Very desirable motor, there is no doubt about it. I think I will keep saving for a Jag V8 f type.
Can u modified this beast?
It would look nice in Matt Black, also I think the screen is meant to change automatically depending on how bright or dark the place is
There’s an option on all of the Land Rovers to have white or black screen. I prefer the black as it fits with the dash
Congrats Annie you’ve done ✅ it🌹🌹👍👍1.6 k in 7 hours❤️
