- The Defender is back for 2020 & Land Rover is ready to make it an off road hit. Under the hood of the Defender 110 is a 3.0L 6-cylinder engine that produces 395HP & mated to a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission. Its exterior features a lot of the classic lines, 20in wheels, and optional off road Land Rover approved tires. On the inside of the 110 you will plenty of space, great styling and all the tech you could ask for. We will show the off road capability of the Defender plus all the details you come to expect from Raiti's Rides!

I think the interior looks awesome for what the Defender is. Is not a luxury Range Rover. The Def is meant to be rugged. And LR made the perfect combination of luxury and ruggedness. Love it.
I love how Land Rover made the new Defender both modern and a throwback, with luxury features, but also sensible materials that won’t get scuffed up too easily from everyday use as a family truckster. Hopefully it’ll be a reliable car, too.

That offroad section is pure gold!!! I remember going to a launch event once for them once and it really builds character going through some obstacles we only see on tv!!! Ordered my 110 FE back in November! Got to test drive one at my dealer. LOVE IT!!!! Especially on their “obstacle course.” Sweet. Can’t wait!!!
How long did you have your 110? Any ownership issues?
@@ryanjcoon1 COVID wound up pushing out the original delivery date by months. In that time I had a non COVID hospitalization that laid me out for over a year. So, I didn’t wind up buying it as I couldn’t drive for a period of time.

Best off-road vehicle is that one that you will actually take off road and won't be afraid to beat up. But you are correct, creat review and cool ride, I will get one. I have a 1995 Defender 110. Get too many looks when I drive it. I love it.

Wish the US had a diesel option, BUT I am damn excited for the PHEV Defender to come to market! Instant torque, pure ev mode for daily driving will be a great addition

Seen a new 110 defender in the supermarket car park today.First time I have seen one
That's were they'll spend most of their time, either there or on the school run.
Look's super tough but futuristic! I think the styling inside and out is stunning, it's really grown on me since the initial reveal.
It sort of reminds me of the Civic Type-R, it's a little out there and crazy looking, but it is functional and beautiful.

It looks so cool, im glad its still boxy and rugged with a durable interior, there will be a commercial model which will be even more basic and rugged on the interior made on mass for some companys, im intrigued on how basic you can get one for hard farm and off road work which is what it was actually designed for.

Looks like the shifter was interfering when you were using the infotainment screen. Might get annoying very quickly for anyone who ends up buying one.

I love it. The engine is not covered cause of all the work it'll need done. Sweet looking inside and out. Hearing it's price sounded like nails on a chalkboard.

Great review Joe! The Defender was definitely the wife's choice of vehicle but unfortunately it didn't have rear Entertainment system which was a key selling feature we definitely needed when have kids so we opted for Cadillac Escalade.
Yet again another great video, don't know what I think of that square reminds me of those domino pizza oven cars

I think the question to be asked “Is this a worthy replacement?” Judging by Joe’s review then it’s a big yes!
That is a very good point! Nothing is good as the original.
What is the original? The 90 / 110 was the stage 2 rejuvination project, but defender came in the 1990. The new Range Rover Velar also has norhing to do with the proto type 2 door from the old days.
Arjan Wilbie As everyone knows the “original” is the series 1,2, 3 and Defender (which came out in 1983) which has a continuous run of 67 years production which finally ended on 29 January 2016. They were all an evolution of the same vehicle.
A series is not a defender, the series range ran till 1986 for military contracts. The new Defender is more a Discovery clone than the last old defender. But will it be a good replacement, depends on quality. By your logic, it is a Jeep. The first series prototypes were build on a Jeep chassis and therefore evolved from that. Jeep Defender.... has a ring to it.

The manufacturer and the whole world regards the series 1-3 and the defender as the same run of vehicle.
Don’t try and get smart talking about 1986 and Jeep. It’s irrelevant to the point. You tried to make the claim that the LR Series 1-3 & Defender we’re not the “original” vehicle. If that’s your belief then welcome to your world of one.
The manufacturer says it’s the new Defender replacing the previous original Series / Defender. You can have whatever opinion about the new vehicle you want.

It looks good and has a lot of nice features with legendary off road capabilities, but I’ve heard the reliability is not the best , and it’s a little pricey for me. I’d rather have a Telluride. Thanks for sharing it Joe! 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸

It's a brand new vehicle on a brand new platform with brand new electronics, etc, etc. It's not fair to dismiss it because you heard from some guy on the internet that their 95 Disco fell apart after 100k miles.

The front end of the bizness looks like a "Cars," movie character. Wonder how reliable it is going to be. Zonking that unique square in that rear window, but overall a great job at moving the Defender into that modern era. Can't wait for the inevitable Bronco vs Defender reviews.

Not a big SUV guy, but the looks, performance, capability, and features of this vehicle have me salivating. There is only one thing, and it's a biggie, that would stop me from buying one. It's a Land Rover with the reliability of the freaking weather.

No. The G Wagon looks better. It remained more true to its predecessor. Land Rover change direction completely on this one apart from some design cues.

Richard Hammond did a real fine walk-around which I saw first and one from Big Doug. Such a fine vehicle and I speced one out, an Urban model, for $61k.

It didn't go anywhere. The US just never got the previous defender.
The 110 was an absolute legend, it will remain to be see if this version lives up to its predecessor. Too much tech in my opinion, more to go wrong, when the going gets tough.

I really like to get v6 110. I had a 2016 RR sport and had a-lot of issues with electronics. Do you think this one is dependable?

@Dugie Doogs Exactly! This is more of a luxury vehicle. The old Defenders were typically a farmers work horse and more of a tool that you can hose down outside and in. I can't see a muddy farmer trying to use the touch screen after a hard days work. The new replacement Defender really doesn't fulfill the requirements of its original target market.

I am finally excited about Land Rover again......been a long time fan and bought a 2003 Disco brand new and sold with 95k miles due to NE rust issues then bought a 2012 LR 4 new and still have it. It has the 5 liter V8 and tows like a dream, and has been super reliable! Since the LR4 though the majority of the Tata directed designs seem to be based on the Evoque and are more of the same to me. The Land Rover progression from Discovery 1 to Discovery 2 to LR3 to LR4 (Discovery 3 and Discovery 4 outside the US) was exciting then I totally lost interest with the newer Discovery and Evoque based or Evoque looking models. Now this Defender looks much more “proper” if you know what I mean. Thanks Raiti for another great review and wow you are a hard worker producing quality content at HIGH volume!

To be honest, I think it is worth the wait, it brings the old generation more modernized and more futuristic, I think land rover did well on the new defender

Used to military “Rovers” so my concern would be that there is far too much by way of electronics to go wrong out in the middle of nowhere.
Nice review, Joe! It looks really good. The design is really growing on me. But moving the Defender to a fully-independent, air-ride suspension is a pretty big compromise. It offers much better ride on the road, but straight axles are just better and more reliable for extreme off-roading and rock crawling. A stock Jeep Wrangler will probably outperform the new Defender on the rocks. And will all these electronics hold up over time? Jeez, I don't know. Reliability is big question mark.
