- In this video we park our Land Rover Discovery 4 (LR4) side by side to our new 2020 Land Rover Defender 110 and review the differences and similarities between these two iconic Land Rover models.

Honestly, Disco 4 and the 2012 RangeRover was the peak of Landrover design. And they shouldn’t have changed the Defender, with updated engines and interior, it could have competed with the G-wagon.

@@nickw7041 Disco Sport was the natural successor to the F2, but ended up being put in to the Discovery family. Before the name Discovery Sport, it was touted as the Freelander 3. Especially amongst Freelander 2 owners.
As for a comparison with the new Defender 90, I was thinking more Freelander 2 in terms of boxy shape , whereas the DS is more curved .
I've owned over 30 different Land Rovers and currently own a Freelander 2. Before the unveiling of New Defender, there were some leaked pics doing the rounds on the F2 forums and I must say, it did seem to resemble the F2 in terms of shape.
Although the 110 when compared to the D4 looks comparable in size, I can still see it also has a resemblance to the Freelander 2 in 90 guise. But maybe that's just me .

@@jerrymyahzcat Looks almost identical on external body profile, have you seen one in the flesh, I have when I took one for a test drive and showed it to a friend of mine with a Discovery 4, and he said the same, "a new Disco"? Test drive revealed some rattles and squeaks and strange throttle response, not good. waiting to see 90" commercial version.

I had been waiting for the new defender to replace my LR4 but the only thing that seems to be better than LR4 is the infotainment system. I'll just hang on to my LR4.
After owning an LR4 for ten years straight (2010 LR4 and 2016 LR4) Land Rover could not come up with something that would is decidedly better than LR4. I think LR4 is an underappreciated iconic vehicle that was far ahead of its time.
Jawad Malik yep. Agree 100%. I have 2 D4. Great ergos. Great engine. Great tranny. Especially the 8 Spd. Just love it.
Seems to me the Defender has a longer bonnet. I guess for the straight six engines which came later ... infotainment wise, there are now kits to add Car/Air play to the D4 ... even add rear camera if one's D4 didn't have it. One still keeps the original GPS window too. While the central screen is not large, it still works very well. Cheaper than buying a new Defender, where unless you get the 3 litre diesel, the D4 stands up very well. Plus its chassis gives it longevity if one tows.
I’m gonna say it... the new defender should be rebranded as the new disco and the grenadier should be the new defender! There I said it!
Why does everyone rave about the non existent Ineos... that is now going to be built in a Smart car factory in France....

powerfulukltd because unlike salty Sean about his new disco with a defender badge on it, people resonate with those traditional design cues, which in my opinion Land Rover missed in the new defender(and new disco if you can call it that) and that is why “everyone” is raving about a nonexistent truck built in a smart car factory in France... just take a look at the g-wagon professional and the 70 series Toyota, Land Rover should have done the same. They have moved Land Rover up market and their old loyal fans are missing their historic reputation. Jk with you Sean, hope you enjoy your new defender :)

@Ian Harding good luck with the disco 4. both of mine have blown their engines at below 100kms! I'll be upgrading to the new Def in the hope of improved reliability. I have a D5 as well and it's far, far superior to the D4 in every way! No baby carriage just a good reliable, was reluctant to update, but now so glad I did. There's no comparison between 4 and 5

I’ll agree that there’s no comparison between a ‘4 and a ‘5. The ‘4 was a much better car and sadly, the ‘5 killed any prospect of be ever buying another.
I have D3, 2007 SE model, just keeps going with the odd small issue, get one , buy a few updates and accessories from powerful uk and you have a great car
I love my 2011 LR4 HSE ( bought new) now with 116000 miles. No significant problems. I’m keeping it.
Excellent vid. Love the side by side comparo. I’ve been saying the following on the Defender vids for months now:
So here’s my take on the Defender- it’s not a Defender at all, it’s a relaunch of the Discovery. Here’s my reasoning:
1. The Disco was launched as a near luxury offroad vehicle, slotted to fit between the purely rugged but lack of creature comfort Defender and the superbly apportioned but extremely pricey Range Rover. A true allrounder, something you take the kids to school with, go shopping with, tow your boat with, go for a road trip in comfort with, or go offroading with. Look at the market segment the new Defender occupies- it is that same segment. While there may no longer be a rugged and spartan vehicle in the LR family on market segment on the one side of it, the market segment it is now in is the same as that occupied by the Disco 1 and really all Discos (and LR3 and LR4) here in the States.
2. Let’s look at the underpinnings of the vehicle- namely the suspension and four wheel drive system. First, the suspension. It is the same air suspension that LR has been using in the Disco 3 and 4 now for like 15 years. While initially the Disco 3s had some issues with them, I have not heard of substantial issues with the units in the Disco 4s. All air sus is not created equal, and the reason Discos are not harsh is because they don’t use all of their extension in their offroad settings- there is more to be accessed should you get high centered and also to allow for articulation. It is also why you can lift them another 2 inches to fit 33s on 18 in wheels using Johnson Rods- even though you are taking up 2 more inches of travel, there is still plenty to spare to allow for articulation. Also, the air sus in the Discos works just like the new Defender in that when one wheel rises it send extra air to the other wheel to push it down. It is a very good system that works well offroad- as good as a solid axle- no, but plenty good for what 90% of people are going to be doing offroad. Second, the four wheel drive system. Again it is the same terrain response that has been used since in the Disco 3 and 4s. It is a phenomenal system- imo the best out there of any of the systems that aren’t just traditional front, rear and center lockers. Ford basically uses it in it’s vehicles (insert Raptor here), as they took it with them after selling off JLR. It has high and low range with a very good low crawl ratio. The terrain response adjusts throttle tip in, steering wheel sensitivity, and height, as well delivering power to the wheels in a capacity designed for the certain types of terrain. The Disco 3 and 4s also had the optional locking rear and center diffs called the Heavy Duty (HD) package, just like the new Defender.
3. Cameras, cameras and more cameras- yup, you guessed it, just like the Disco 4.
4. Towing and cargo capacity- Disco 4- 7,716 lbs. New Defender- 7,716 to 8,201 lbs.
5. So the basic underpinnings are an LR4. So now what does it take from the Disco 1 and 2? How about the swinging rear door with mounted spare tire. This wasn’t unique to the Defender, it was on the Disco 1 and 2 also. And the alpine windows- everyone is talking about how cool a desig touch from the old Defender they are- well they were also in the Disco.
6. And what the new Defender fixed that was wrong with the LR4- first the wheels. At least now you get 18s on a new veh, although they are not available on the 6 cylinder gas engine- fix that JLR. Along with that comes proper offroad tires. I’ll personally probably upgrade to something with more tread, but at least I can use these until they wear out. Second is the mounting of the spare- it is now where it belongs for an offroader. Third, winch and it looks like rock rail sliders can be added at purchase. Thank you. Fourth, lots of tie down points in the way back. Surprisingly, my LR4 doesnt have many. As for the 4x4 system- the slow speed cruise control- whatever they’re calling it. Nice but I’m not gonna use it. With terrain select it also adjust throttle feel and input, so I’ll just feather it or mash it myself thank you very much. Configurable Terrain Response- could be pretty cool. There are many times I would like lock the rear diff but I can only do so by selecting rock or mud mode, which gives me all the other changes I don’t necessarily want or need at the moment. I assume I can set up one like that in the new Defender. Mirror/ camera seems cool, as on trips I often have the back floor to ceiling with stuff and can’t see out the back mirror. Obviously the invisible bonnet is really cool, especially for me, bc I do go out by myself sometimes and dont always have a spotter. Likewise the 360 degree camera- that’s some wizadry right there but very cool for same reason. Anything that makes seeing around your veh or where your tires are actually going is cool in my book.
So how good will this new Defender be? Well I think that depends on what one wants to with it. If you plan to go rock bashing and playing on black diamond gnarly trails in offroad parks, this isn’t the veh I would recommend. Then you want solid axles, coils springs, disconnecting sway bars, and traditional front and rear lockers (manual preferably bc I have seen plenty of electronic ones fail). If you plan to go overlanding or otherwise driving for several days out in remote stretches where there may be no help for days, then this is not the vehicle I would recommend. I would recommend something more mechanical so that, when it breaks, you can repair it on the spot. Oh, and bring spare parts. I love when people brag about the superiority of mechanical offroaders and then I run across them broken down on the trail and they can’t fix themselves bc they don’t have the parts or parts to improvise. But if you want an all around veh- one that will be good on road, especially on long road trips, one that can tow a 5000-7000 pound trailer, and one that can offroad on moderate trails (blues and some more mellow blacks, beaches, desert) and you are going out not too far from civilization- say days trips up to a long weekend or so, then the Defender will be a great vehicle for that. It is definitely a more well rounded vehicle than a solid front and rear axle veh, will tow more than most offroaders (so if that’s a necessary criteria it will exempt vehicles like the Jeep Wrangler from your options and probably put you in half ton truck territory), yet will still do what probably 95% of people do offroad with their dailies. So many rigs I see on the same trails I’m on doing the same features as me with my LR4 are overbuilt. I mean you don’t need 37s and solid axles to drive to your favorite surfing or surf fishing spot on the beach, or do any of the green and blue trails. And let’s face it- a lot of that is for the look, not the necessity. And if it makes people feel better, take the Defender name off the front and put on Land Rover and just tell yourself you got the new Disco, because in reality that’s what it is anyway.

I am actually going to be one of the first people to drive it in my home country Kenya for a TV Show I am in and I'm looking forward to putting a lot of what you have said to the test on our trails. Mwirigi thanks for taking time to read it- I can get wordy. Lol. There’s so much emotion wrapped up in Defender that a lot of people are not looking at the vehicle objectively. It will be a good offroader. Check out this guys vids. It will just go about it differently. And yes, it won’t be as easily repairable. But the world moves on. What’s your show called? Is it in English? if so I’ll try to find it and watch it. Sounds good.
Vrolijk yeah, I wish they offered that as an option for the 110. Im torn on air sus- on the one hand it is so nice for 97% of the time I use the veh. On the other, I always have this nagging fear that it will fail when Im out on trail.

Defender is currently the best Land Rover on offer, still Discovery 4 is the most beautiful, perfect Land Rover ever, the 5th Generation Disco is a complete disaster, it isn’t a Discovery. Thank you so much once again for bringing it, loads of love from 🇮🇳. I wish I own one Discovery 4 some day soon.
I own a 2011 high mileage Discovery 4 (LR4), with 7 seats and the 5.0 L Ford V8. I love the vehicle, have used it as a truck, a towing machine (no SUV is better) and a farm vehicle and it has worked really well at this. I am replacing it with the Defender 110 I have on order in off-road spec because I no longer need the 7 seats and the Defender corrects all the fundamental 4x4 gaps inherent in the LR4 design -- 19 inch wheels, no world-class wheel articulation, no off-road tires available, very tough to find the locking rear diff version; and the new camera and off-road computer logic are far better in the Defender.
As for the Discovery 5 -- the market place load placed on that vehicle has been very unfairly heavy -- it can't win simultaneously as the best of class, best of style, 7 seat on on the Mum school run AND be fully focused on off-road and farm. It now needs to drop the low-speed gearbox and compete with the Mum focused school and sports focused Volvos, BMWs, Mercedes, Acura, Lexus and Audi Q7. So good for it, going forward -- (and yes, I think it is really not for me, visually).
The Disco 4 had the best 7 seat arrangement in any SUV I've seen. The tumbling 2nd row coupled with the slightly raised height of the 3rd row was very ingenious. The legroom back there was amazing too. Obviously all this turned to a super spacious hall to sleep in once all rear seats are collapsed

This is such a great review! I was tossing and turning over placing an order on the new defender. For us, a family of 5, space is a major player in our decision and no other video showed the differences. We only just launched the defender here in Australia these past few weeks and while I love it, I still on the fence coming from an enthusiast LR family. So thank you for such an awesome detailed review. (130 isn’t cutting it for 2 babies in seats and a 10 year old anymore)

It should have been the new disco 5 as it’s clearly not a defender with all the delicate electronics. Love my disco 4 and I see nothing yet by LR to replace it.

@@L663 i want to see how it fares to the original defender, But from what you have shown me, I cannot see it been a legendary motor or taking a beating etc like the old one did.
I think this confirms that the new Defender is aimed at the Discovery market, but in this comparison the Discovery is way ahead, even on colour in this case. The Defender is no longer a work horse, but a play thing , all the time the electronics work. Stay safe!

The back door on the Disco 4 is a work of genius:
- you can use it as a picnic table, or put your sports gear, guns, rods, or whatever on it when you're preparing.
- the top part forms an 'umbrella' when it's raining and you can stand in the cutaway on the bottom door with the upper door keeping the rain off your head.
- If the car is parked up near the back of your garage again you can access the boot space by standing in the cutaway of the lower part of the door.
They should DEFINTLEY put the same design on the next iteration of the Defender, it's a real boon. No other 4x4 has this clever design. I'm not sure if many people have realised how useful it is. But the designer really knew what he was doing...
Excellent video, how do you find the comfort of the seats? I notice that my P38 had more comfy seats than my L322. the Defender seats seem to be thinner?
Thanks so much for sharing your findings, I'm grateful you took the time to do this as we own a Disco 4 (which we adore), but seem drawn to the new Defender and we were considering buying one. To get to the point, the Defender wouldn't be large enough to carry our dogs so we're sticking with our mighty Disco. You've saved me a trip to a dealership with a tape measure or relying on those given by a salesperson during the naughty covid saga.
I think the d4 is such a great all around car. The capacity is the best part I have built out a camping setup in the rear. Seems the defender would be too short for me to sleep in. I still think a defender 90 would be a great addition as my second car.

powerfulukltd every LR4 owner I know was not buying the new Disco, some are back on board with the new Defender. I am a little worried about the smaller boot, as I need it to carry my mountain bike. I have heard rumor though of a 130, which would be awesome for me. I’m holding off purchasing for a bit til I see reliability of Defender, so maybe by time Im ready 130 will be out. Also interested on what happens with Rivian- especially real world testing of range. So I’ll still be in LR4 for a while, which I still love. 4 years old and 105K plus miles and it still drives like new.
Question- what is up with European (or maybe British?) fuel estimates? They are always way higher than US. I think you said 30 mpg for Disco/ LR4, which is not close to reality, which is like 17 mixed use. I was thinking bc they are in kpg, but they say mpg. Can you enlighten me?
@@dadventuretv2538 maybe you should know me :) I have owned 2x LRD4's still have one (both snapped the crankshafts under 100kms), now have 2x D5's would not go back to a D4 even if you paid me after having the 5's. Now I'm trading my last D4 for the new Defender P400, bring it on. Let me know if you want the D4 you may save me some trade $$$. Obviously, it's funds are the constraint judging by the comment, but you own the new one for a couple of weeks, there's no way you'll want to go back to the old model (apart from boot space when using 7 seats) - more capable off road, better towing, more responsive, more refined, better features, on-road handling doesn't even compare, kids love the extra space and the comfort of the seats there's just no comparison on or off-road, nor for the occupants between D4 and D5

Thanks ...i am not a motoring journalist but i do drive Land Rovers and happy to share my views
As someone who runs a farm and a marine business, has two kids, and two dogs my Disco 4 is more than just a car, it´s the swiss army knife of cars. I have a love for it like no other vehicle I have owned, workhorse that can swallow up almost anything you require, then with a quick change with the rear seats it´s a seven seater should you require. It´s luxurious and comfortable enough to do a ten hour drive, in fact because I work so much I find a nice three hour or so drive in it with classic FM on the perfect way to relax. Its properly capable off road with a good set of tyres, excellent towing platform and trustworthy on a wet boat ramp and easily the best winter vehicle I have ever driven, I live in Sweden so have some experience of that, it is far better than our other two vehicles, VW Touareg and BMW X3. Some of the Defenders look pretty nice I have to admit but I will never buy one, less load length, cannot fit a pallet and not having the split tailgate absolutely rules it out as a real working vehicle for me. I will run my D4 as long as I can, even if I have to repower it. My D4 is on 240,000 miles and still drives like new, no squeaks, no rattles, I haven´t washed or cleaned it in over a year and it still gets admiring looks (not a common car here in Sweden), I go upto Stockholm once a month and it still looks the part in the city covered in mud. In my opinion the D4 and the Range Rover L322 TDV8 are the best Land Rovers. Of course I like the old defenders but they´re a different class of vehicle.

Thanks, fascinating comparison. I know that LR designed it to echo the previous defender, but I do think people would have let them away with a discovery style split tailgate to make it more usable. It was a flaw in the old defender the rear door design, for loading and still is today.
The whole video shows that its basically an exact replica of the disco. So yes.....they prob could have changed the door. 😂
Great video guys! That 20 cm differens in cargolength surely make a world of differense if you want to sleep in the car (camping/overlanding). Can you tell me were did you find that black ”D4” bonnet vinyl? Do you know if there is a similar ”D3” vinyl wrap? (can´t find it on your webpage...)
We cut the vinyl in house - will work on the video and lauching these ( d4 and d3 ) this week !

The stud pattern is the same on the Disco 4 as the new Defender.... need to check if the 18" wheels will fit.
Love the comparisons, it is going to help as I believe handovers are going to be minimalistic. I am walting on our D200S to have its Country Pack fitted, don't know how long that will be as dealer is unable to tell me if they are in stock or no! Do you think the camera rearview mirror will be able to fit retrospectively as I didn't think it necessary at the time (October) we ordered now having test driven one this week I think I will need one?

This was a great comparison! The Discovery's side windows look much taller. Does the Defender still feel "airy" and bright inside? Thank you for having the stones to make this video! It really is a Disco 4 replacement. In styling you didn't mention the similarities between the headlights, the location of the Alpine Windows is in the location of the Disco 1and 2 not where the Defender had them, or how the rear door is like the original Discovery 1 and 2.
I believe this is built on a modified version of the old Disco 4 chassis. Likely the old factory machines as well.
Totally agree - this is a totally new car - no question.... but for a new car they sure have copied a lot of the bodylines !
@@L663 well it's not "all new" . Land Rover has already said the chassis is 95% new." That means 5% comes from something! If the roof, the doors, the windows, hood, fenders, are all new, then it must be the bits underneath that have carried over. Carried over from what is the question?
I agree it has a lot of design cues from disco 4. And previous discos. However. No chassis in sight. As mentioned monocoque construction.. whats disappointing me is the lack of room in the back. On the disco 4 we could sleep in the back on an overnight trip. Seats fold flat. Has the length. Also the rear seats have proper leg room. Suitable fir adults. I’ve done trips with seven of us us fatsos. No probs. Just a great design on the disco 4. Don’t forget the 3.0lt diesel with 600nm of torque. It’s a towing weapon.
@@gadgetphilosophy8290 the LR3/LR4 had an aluminum chassis with small steel sub frames. I believe it's the same but with aluminum sub frames, either bolted or welded. Manufacturers rarely start from new. They usually modify something and claim it's "all new" because it is no longer the same part number.
The same way the Ford Edge, Ford Taurus, and Ford Explorer were all the same basic chassis bits.
FABULOUS OFF ROAD DESIGNS .. sorry I have to disagree. Disco LR3/LR4 have ladder frame steel chassis and also Monocoque steel body. They’re the only manufacturer that did. They gave you a chassis for strength and the monocoque shell for handling (kept the body from twisting/on road handling ) point in case there’s many videos that show the body being lifted of the rolling chassis in order to access engine. I’m 100%. For the record I own 2 disco 4 and I’m a big techno/mechanically minded geek. The bonnet is alloy..
My wife loves her Discovery 4 but it has been, by far, the least reliable vehicle we've ever owned. List of things that failed is stunning.

Thanks very much for another great video on your new Defender. Did you sort out the restricted performance issue, my D4 did the same to me on the drive home after picking it up.
As much as I like the new Defender and even though it seems aimed at those that are not keen on the Discovery 5 (due to it having challenging looks shall I say), I think for now I will be continuing to run my D4 until something major goes wrong, plus most things have already been replaced anyway.

Guessing you are right that they are counting the spare wheel in vehicle length but the reality is a reduced load space and the big thing, narrower too. The pallet was an excellent demonstrator of this.

Very useful review. I was concerned about the width of the new Defender and thought it was wider than Disco 4. Having had several Disco 4’s I didn’t want anything externally bigger so now I’m much more inclined to go for the Defender. Disappointing that the pallet won’t fit in the rear though. Never actually had a pallet in my Disco 4 but lots of other loads such as beds and sofas which have just fitted so that’s a slight worry. I’d be interested to see how space in the third row compares as well. Sounds like it will be tighter than Disco 4.
Another great video. I’ve had two Discoveries and miss them dearly. The only thing was the high maintenance costs. They were always going wrong.

Rupert Peace 100% agree mate. Aluminium has a tendency to fatigue. I’m sure they’ve added some magic formula. It’s a big unknown. Steel is tried tested and proven

Great comparison. Exactly as I have thought and put in comments from the other defender video that it is a direct replacement for the D4. Bodes well for the INEOS Grenadier when that appears, will you be doing upgrades and mods for the grenadier as well??

Awesome video, thanks for making this! I love both of them, but the new Defender costs almost six figure amount of money in my country... Even used Disco 4s are too expensive for now, I'd buy one if I could afford it (and the mrs wasn't objecting the boxy shape of it, LOL!).
I'm convinced Land Rover realized they lost some faithful with the 3rd generation Disco which just lost it in terms of staying true to the Disco shape. I believe the Defender 2020 is the successor to the Disco 4!
I think you might find that it is a modified version of that chassis. I expect the factory parts were moved from the old LR4 factory to Slovakia to build the new defender.
And isn't as good.
Disco 4 which is basically a facelifted Disco 3 was designed by the team lead by Alan Mobberley who was the chief-designer at LR for almost 19 years and was basically responsible for anything since the original two door classic RR. Disco 4 was his last project before retiring. You could actually tell all the LR models came after Disco 4 were all much more "rounded" with 22"s as option... That's Gerry McGovern for you!

I think you are not alone in jumping from D3/D4 to new Defender... let the old Defender crew have nostalgic fun in their old cars ( I have one of those too )
54k vs 8k as these two stand that is alot for good usb points and a slick infotainment screen. An older Disco4 has faults and will have more faults. However better the devil you know! Great videos you guys are making on this defender well done. Cheers

But I'm looking forward to taking it fly-fishing and trips into the wilds, a bit of logging, perhaps spending the occasional night in the back as it looks like there's space for that, and also pissing off some of my Lefty relatives. I'm told it ain't bad in winter either!
Good video. I run a D4 and one of the last Defender 110. Just cannot see myself buying a new Defender. Ton of cash... D4 a great car and load space and towing capability brill.
I towed my digger to France with the D4 and it was a dream ! I was apprehensive as i dont tow a lot and the D4 has 200K on the clock but it did it without missing a beat ! did not even feel the hills.

Great review. Own a disco 4 and just test drove the new defender. The defender wins on handling, gearbox and infotainment. But thats mainly due to the technological advancements in the last than 10 years. The reason i will stay with my disco is because the defender lacks the airy and spacious feeling you get in a discovery 4. The side windows and front screen are much shorter than on the discovery and you dont have the same view. The defender felt like youre “stuck” in a box.

I bought a low mileage '16 Disco 4 after trying the Defender. £40k extra for the infotainment system and weight loss (and smaller boot) just didn't make sense. Love the look of the Disco 4. Timeless.

So many thanks for putting this video up. Its the comparison I've been looking for. I have a G4 (genuine) Discovery 3 (V8) and planning a trip this summer (God willing) to the mountains in Europe. Disco 3 great for all the same reasons as the Disco 4, but reliability a issue so thinking of a p300 Defender. Wondering if the P300 has got enough grunt and torque for some heavy towing?
I think you may be better off with the P400 due to the Torque. I am not sure as i have not towed with the P300 yet.. although it seems that the P300 is a bit thirsty when pushed..
@@L663 Thanks, quite a steep 💰💰💰 uplift for the extra 100 ponies though. I did see some slightly better fuel economy recorded for the P400 so that would make sense. Perhaps best waiting for the D300 as P400 probably out of reach price-wise. Hopefully when the G4 Disco 3 G4 is out of the workshop (3rd time in in a month!) we'll have more confidence in it to take us to deepest Serbia and beyond. Would prefer to keep with petrol over diesel mind you.

I have to post again. I think this video is such a clear pointer to how hopeless the Def20 is.
It loses on interior space, tailgate, practicality, seating, appearance, big engine torque, even fuel consumption (the Ingenium diesel and petrols are quiet, pokey, but thirsty).
It's no Defender replacement and if it's meant as Disco replacement it also fails.
You can negotiate BIG discounts on D5, which is FAR more practical than Def20 and cheaper, yet much roomier, more practival and just as capable.
Spend £25k on a low mileage late plate D5 and you have a better vehicle.
JLR really need to think what they are doing. They lost the working vehicle market to the far east, now they serve up more confusion in their very confusing range. RR, RRS RR Evoque, Disco, Disco Sport and now another SUV. Absolutely nuts.
Anyone with sense will buy a D4 or, a Defender Original which are appreciating in value. Or a RR Classic. I despair with JLR, and I'm a fan and owner

my lr3 every weekend goes to a motocross track I pull a trailer at 180 kph with a single motorcycle, I get to the motocross track and I open the 5 door and I use the bench to sit eat etc., for me it is essential that bench
Good comparison, could you please check overall lengths, as according to LR brochure defender 20 would appear to be longer than D4, keep up the good work.
It is, barely, if one includes the spare tire. If not, it is shorter -- to better departure angle. I have a D4 with a third row seat and it is fully adult suitable. Same for the D5. That is given away as a design trade-off for off-road with the new Defender. choices, choices ...
Simon or anyone else in the crowd, would love to see a test of their off-road capabilities compared. Or at least hear a discussion about it. Military Mobility has 2x LR3’s and we have done some amazing things on the trail with them. Wondering if the new defender technology is superior or just the same as well? Looks like the terrain control knob and selections are the same.
Senseless pallet problem. No forklifter without extended forks will get close enough for proper loading without ruining the tailgates. Besides, I bet a standard EUR-pallet (800mm wide) will fit even in the New Defender.
Oh, i forgot, EUR is history. Back to inch. ;-)

Hey Simon, can you do a video on the evoque tail light condensation issue? I'm sure there's a way people could reseal tail lights if the condensation became a problem like mine did. We Love the evoque facelift lights and want to reorder them from you guys. Just want to get the condensation issue sorted.
Hi Jordan.. I am working really hard on this issue with the supplier. I have spend a few hours blowing into lights to find the route cause of the condensation. We have made a lot of progress and we are nearly there ! sorry for the problems todate.
