Hot Ones is incredible, and the #1 underrated aspect of the show is how good the EDITING is. the timing and pacing is always absolutely perfect, and the sound design and FX are exactly what they need to be, while not being overdone at all. i'm a television producer who's worked as an editor, and Hot Ones brings me so much joy and impressiveness with every single episode. the editing is of course part of a much greater bag of tricks along with Sean's amazing interviewing skills and the obviously perfect behind-the-scenes production as well. it's honestly a master-class in digital content, all around.
I'm not sure I'd say the editing is underrated, the show is pretty universally loved and I think people recognize the editing. I agree, though, Hot Ones is freaking amazing, I was watching from the beginning and it's been so cool to see it grow and still stay so cool and fun.
This was wonderful! So glad they're getting recognition for coming up with such an out of the box concept for something we see all the time, celebrity interviews. Genius.
I've seen Sean interviewed lots of times (and he's always great), but it was really interesting to see Dom and Schonberger in front of the camera, answering questions.
@@meems1111 so fitting . typos matter. jackals unite!! \ I love that seth did this. He constantly finds reasons to mention and frenemy diss sean and the show. so this is awesome.
This is such a great interview. 23:43 is a great moment following the topics that led to it, and I loved when the producer politely interjected (thank god) and shared how pivotal it was when Kevin Hart was a guest because they knew [when the studio offered to fly them to the set in Hawaii] that things had really shifted in terms of momentum and success. I totally get why and how Charlize was a benchmark guest & yet it was wonderful that Dominique spoke up and highlighted in further detail how Kevin as a guest had been a very significant celebrity in their growth - to fully respond to Seth's question.
They didn't mention my 2 favorite episodes. First, let's be real, them getting Billie Eilish on the show was HUGE and she, for being a kid at the time, really nailed it. And then my personal favorite, Dave Grohl getting Sean HAMMERED was such a fun episode. We are still holding out for Keanu Reeves. You can do it Sean!
Frodo was doing really well, still one of my favorites for his air of "connoisseur" (but any episode/question where they talk about local food spots has it "ah, you know about" moment - which are really nice, mostly)
I honestly wish the episodes were longer because the questions are so good! I know there can only be one James Lipton (Inside the Actors studio). But Sean ranks right up there with his own interview style and personality. I also will watch the episode no matter who the celebrity is just because I know I will learn something about the person or the industry.
Chris seems very well informed and smart when it comes to why this show works so well. Not a fluke by any means that he and First We Feast found this success with Hot Ones.
Sean did an episode with H3 where they brought him in mid way through. I’d definitely recommend it, he definitely prefers being more on the production side but when he starts talking you can see he’s super intelligent and engaging
I think they’re getting away from the deepest cut questions now that they’re scoring A-list celebs. It’s been awhile since we’ve heard “how do you know that??” from a guest. The interviews seem shorter because I/we would love to see these superstars for another 10 minutes EXCEPT for those coming just to do their bits. Will Ferrell and Conan’s bits were cute, but we really learned nothing new about them. Finally I really want Sean and the guest closer now that Covid isn’t such a thing. They used to be able to actually ‘clink’ their wings, and Gordon was close enough to spray the milk. Bring them closer for that better chemistry. (These critiques hopefully show that I’m a huge fan since show #3).
I´m kinda sad, that the research question was answered that short, because I would´ve liked to know more about that. From all I know is, that Sean does it together with his brother. But as we´ve seen in the HotOnes comments a lot of people said"oh, that´s a Nadwuar moment" and I would´ve liked to know, how and where find some of those deep informations. Anyways...great interview and nice to see them 3 together on stage.
He’s answered it in depth a few times in the past. Basically he goes on a boot camp for a week or so beforehand on everything the guest has done. He listens to the guest on podcasts when he exercises (at 2x speed), he reads their books (if they have any) and trawls interviews on the net. Just a deep immersion to get his bits of trivia, which is brilliant.
My wife bought me da bomb for Fathers Day. My reaction was similar to Wayne when Stacy gifts him a gun rack for his birthday. I was like “Da Bomb? Da bomb. My wife I can barely tolerate hot sauce much less Da Bomb. What am I gonna do with Da Bomb?” “Eat it?” I sigh “You know what husband? If you’re not careful your going to lose me”
I'm going to throw a suggestion out there: Paul Maurice, coach of the Florida Panthers. He is a great interview and quick with the one-liners...and as a fan of the Carolina Hurricanes, I'd love to see him sweat under the heat of the Wings of Death. ;)
Is hard to get people to watch a 24 minute video. Meanwhile I`m watching laywers streaming live for 4 hours, unless they`re streaming trials for 8 or more hours :)
I know Sean doesn't appreciate wings anymore. but back in the 80s and 90s wings blew up around the country. Corporate restaurants hadn't figured out how to "cheap-out" the wings yet.
It's interesting that they reference Kevin Hart as a positive swing. I HATED his episode; he was very disrespectful of Sean and the process. It actually turned me off Kevin as a comedian and 'actor'.
They probably had guests on who did much worst things in there lives than slapping another rich guy. Stone Cold Steve Austin for example was charged for domestic abuse.
Right, which is why they totally got cancelled and don’t exist anymore right? Which is why their newest episodes don’t get millions of views right? Which is why they don’t end up getting panel interviewed by Seth Meyers right?

Thanks for pointing that out. You are absolutely right! It´s something I also recoginzed early on and there is nothing to add.
Agreed, and would add that the sound they do during the edits (like the reverb on coughs) is like a grin multiplier for me.
This was awesome. Seth Meyers was the perfect choice for the interviewer and all of them are dressed so sharply!
I couldn't agree more!
I'd like for politicians to do Hot Ones instead of debates.
YES! Kamala versus 45
I understand that bit about editing out the connective tissue, but I would pay money to watch Conan's unedited interview
Hard same. I fear the laughter would hurt worse than da bomb.
I think we all want that, hopefully our pleas will not go unheard!
Same with Shane gillis's interview that was heavily edited because he made some offensive jokes
Would 100% pay a silly amount of money for that

Sean's all about reciprocal cross-overs, like the Chicken Shop Date w/ Amelia Dimoldenberg, appearing on each others' shows.

Very happy and thankful to hear Sean doesn’t wanna quit doing hot ones anytime soon ! (,:❤

So glad to have caught this premiere. Keanu would be my #1 choice for Hot Ones. Also great to see the other talent that makes this show great.
Every time I comment that person will never be on the show they end up on the show so let me help you out here 😂 Keanu will NEVER be on the show 😅
