From a distance yes, but when you start comparing closer up details like the weapons themselves it's pretty bad. They were awesome for their time though.
16:00 the walking through the hospital hallway is so realistic, I can't even tell that is game or not if there is no UI. I grown up in China. When I was young my hometown looks just like Pripyat, I believe a lots of people grown up in a communist country has the same feeling. we got all those Soviet Style buildings, statues, gardens huge trucks everywhere but due to the fast developing, they had to get rid of them all and build skyscrapers. My grandfather was working in a factory at that time, so he always bring some scraps back for me and he gave a set of tools as well. I was literally just like the mechanics in this game, helping my friends fixing their toy. I still remember my best well known work was upgrading the BB shotgun. My grandfather got me some strong springs and those springs have same diameter with the BB shotgun spring but much stronger. So I just swap the spring for my "customers", and upgrading their shotgun's "firepower". I got a lots of snacks out of that job but my business got turned down soon later. Apparently BB guns are too dangerous for kids, one kid's tooth got chipped off by the ricochet. Also, for a lots of those old buildings during the cold war, the requirement was buildings must have civil defense facilities, which means there were a lots of building has abandoned underground "bunker", literally just like this game. We just don't have any research center down there. everytime when I play STALKER I feel like I am playing in my childhood dreams. I found a old Chinese photo online, looks just like the game. sigedon.com/shop/photos/after-1945/1990-original-photo-china-shenyang-robotic-research-development-center-science/
The building in Zaton, the waste processing station, also has the Burer train tunnel from Yanov attached to it now. Alot of call of prypiats locations are spread out now, while clear skies and shadow of chernobyls areas are moved slightly but still stay true to shape.
what i don't like about newer game is how they limited dynamic range to how action camera sees the world, so when you shoot inside building you see dark spots inside but outside is overexposed and vice versa when you shoot the outside from inside and inside becomes dark. Lightning is definitely screwed
Kind of hate how shabby trees look now, but otherwise it's amazing to see those locations again. Just as I remember them from years ago when I played original games. Well, most of them, except for Clear Sky's base.
Where is that big building near the quarry from Jupiter? I mean the cement factory is too different in Stalker 2 😢 that was my favorite place of previous Stalker games I used to go to the second floor and see all around Jupiter what a beautiful view, while killing Monolith troopers with my sniper rifle.
The craziest part to me is that, with mods, you can get the original games looking about 85% as good as Stalker 2, but you can play them on decent 8 year old hardware no problem. Stalker 2 crushes high end newer systems.
@@Veelaru that's what I have heard too, it gets worse as it goes on. I also heard the new patch fixes some of the worst dips. The issue is that mid range GPU's should still be able to play on high graphics at 1440p without issues and this game still keeps FPS down on the 50's at 1080p on most newer mid-range cards.
It wasn't until moders painfully remade the entire X-ray engine into 64 bit that ANY of the graphic fidelity mods you see now make it look so good and RUN so well. On top of that the launch was terribly buggy and glitchy leaving a lot of people disappointed. It wasn't until Misery, Anomaly and Gamma got popular that people started getting interested and at that point you can say it wasn't even GSC tbut modders that made the game great just like vanilla skyrim or fallout. In 10 years the UT5 engine will get upgraded, hardware will get more powerful and modern will do their thing. In 8-10 years the moders will do the same and a lot more with Stalker 2 when the tools drop and when you UPGRADE.
Dont get me wrong i love all the old games as well as stalker 2 but they have been making and remaking same game for ovee twenty years. I guess its good its a great premise haha. But it does get repetitive. I want them to shake it up a bit. New environtments and locations. New mutants. Etc
play the metro series if you want something new. Those games were developed by a group of developers who left GSC and also features a similar post apocalyptic setting. I don’t think the stalker series will ever change the setting because the games are set exclusively in the Chernobyl exclusion zone so its going to be the same location with every game mostly
Kinda sad seeing the Clear Sky base abandoned, fond memories of camp fire drinking there, safe for a time from the monsters of the swamps beyond.
It's more sad that Clear Sky disappeared at all, i liked that group. Hope, they may be somewhere in the zone. Didn't complete Stalker 2 yet
It's a shame, Clear Sky was the only faction I chose in its only appearance :(
the older games aged good because of good art direction and well placed textures and props, it was so inmersive back in the day
And great lighting
Wow the older games have aged very good

@@EvilSSP too bad "at a distance" isnt ever relavent in this game.
Just add SSS mod by Ascii and it will became more modern then ever
When I start the game the first thing I do is find the rookie village. And listen to the "good hunting stalker" ahh~good old time
Army Warehouse broke my heart, but was happy to see freedom finally got Rostok

The vehicle station was also in SoC, since it's where you rescued Nimble in the first mission.

I believe users will add better trees in mods ☺️

Not Duty Base))
Finally they removed those bastard duty fraction from Rostok.
Long live Freedom!!!
well done!
Thank you!

that small map in corner was so useful. But yeh ... its not so good for immersion.
True. Open world games dont need a minimap. Just a start button map. Well, games you cant drive vehicles in.
nice!
Thanks!

There are lots of new environments and locations in STALKER 2. A couple new mutants which i agree, could have been more.
