Untill they fix the A-life system, the new game will just feel like a far cry game, the NPCs don't feel alive, they feel like they're only their for you
I don't know why they say it's a far cry when the gun play is more similar to call of call of pripyat than anything else (if it's because of the compass or the detection indicator you can perfectly remove it), now the broken AI is the spawn of the rest, the behavior of the NPCs as bandits seems to me the same as they did in the previous stalkers (throw grenades like missiles, look for cover and flank), I would rather say that the mutants are improved although the annoying thing is how tanky they are and the other thing that is missing, for example random events like groups facing each other.

The reactions of NPCs in 2024 is very disappointing. Also look at the way the NPC's in combat react in the older games crouching while firing the Combat AI was so much better too.

Uh no, that's how they look in vanilla . In mods (atmosfear 2,3,4 or whichever is the newest one today) you get that cool skybox with the "tornado" , it goes red and you have the waves traversing the map, similar to stalker 2. I imagine there's still going to be a mod for stalker 2 to change it in the future.

0:45 they sometimes say "Put your weapon away" and even punches you if you're didn't put it away(you have to get really close to them, like face to face) I'm talking about Stalker 2. I had that interaction in the first location when you have to talk to Zotov. It is in the game but doesn't work properly
I dunno if I misremembered it, but you don't have to talk to Zotov. You can take Gaffer/Richter's side completely & find Squint their way. Vice versa is also true, but you have to talk to Gaffer to trigger the standoff at Warlock's bar before talking to Zotov.

Had it happen with Dr. Kruglov in SoC and was suprised that he of all people would try and punch the weapon away from me. Guessing it was a default animation every NPC could do and not specific to the character which did it.
The NPC reaction to the draw weapon did have in stalker 2, but it so random and hard to trigger. It happened in my game 1 times when I'm at the Garbage town.
Extremely easy to miss detail in S2: Select-fire weapons will reflect which firing mode you're in on the selector switch, easiest to see on the copyright-friendly G36 given that the FOV only goes so far and there's no weapon inspection
Well I'm not sure it's appropriate to compare GSCs first game of this scale on a custom engine and this. Decade and a half ago I'd let it pass, but now? Not really Though, I'm sure they'll fiix it eventually. It's just that now standards are much higher and if I were a dev at GSC, I'd delay a game for another year. The audience would wait anyway (at least I definitely would)

There is something about unreal4,5 that makes me dislike many games.Like the texture,props,environment looks plastic and somewhat blurry even on good settings.I think unreal uses some kind of inbuilt TAA to smooth the edges which make the game look blurry and plastic.Also the physics of unreal engine is bad.
You saw it when he thew the granade into the water. The splash which came up looked like a cluster of some sticky shit not like a fluid substance consisting of drops at all, very ugly.

Overall i am positively surprised about this game - sure it has a few flaws, but i had 0 crashed in my livestreams and no gamebreaking bugs or something. AI is still weird though and i hope they fix it soon.
If you haven't had bugs or crashes, did you even leave the lesser zone and keep doing main story quests? Around Rostok region is when it lags pretty hard.
It is worth considering that in the new stalker there are no patches that will affect the behavior of NPCs, when the first stalker came out the situation was similar, it's just that after some time the game became what we see it now. + In the builds to the first stalker, the AI was so advanced that it could complete quests for you.
It’s not really that they complete the quests for you, it’s just that, say, a group of loners roaming around the zone met with a group of bandits, one of which was your target for a quest, who died in the resulting firefight. Or, another common one, pack of dogs near Rostok came too close to the duty squadron stationed there, and got killed. Obviously they can’t complete any of the fetch quests for you on their own. There is like one scripted AI fetch quest complete in CoP but you still have to get the item first for it to complete. And tbh these are the two major quest groups, kill or fetch. Another ones being guard, which can also not really be completed with AI. I honestly don’t recall a lot about on-release SoC behavior of A-life but by the CoP release it was implemented well from the get-go.

There’s a funny moment about “put your gun down.” I was AFK and didn’t pause the game for about 5-10 minutes. When I looked at my monitor, a guy was just staring at me without saying anything. As soon as I put my gun down, he just walked away like nothing happened. XD
It's actually wild how a game released in 2024 and running on UE5, one of the most advanced engines there is, has flashlights that don't caste shadows, when Shadow of Chernobyl released in 2007 and made in their in-house engine had that feature. It has to be a bug, there is no other way.
@@stargazer162 Especially because there are dynamic shadows present in STALKER 2, try turning on lamps in building and you will see that they cast dynamic shadows from objects and people. Almost everything seems to have dynamic shadows, except for your own flashlight.
@@rafox66 From a Dev, Casting Dynamic Shadows is really a mess to do on a flashlight compared to a lamp. Basically those from lamp are already calculated so it does not cost much, that's why they can't move basically. While your flashlight would need to be calculated each frame and would be really, really expensive. The effect work well like so and until new tech is found in the majority of the game you will have that.
So many missing features. Really wanted more survival features. Our stalker doesn’t need sleep, water, and can’t make camp. No looting mutants for food, and a ridiculous amount of floor loot. Also wish the game was less saturated. Makes it feel like I’m just playing far cry. Also miss the signature stalker clouds

stalker from shadow of chernobyl knew when to duck or scatter when gunshot is near around them and know how to actually corner or flank us + knew when its time for the funny grenade spam when your trapped in a corner
You should have upped the call of pripyat FOV, I know its tedious as you cannot do it in game, but it fucking sucks that you compare them while CoP is set to default 50 FOV.
The Zone doesn't seem alive the same way as it did before, in older games. And I don't think it's something that could be fixed. The optimization of the game is terrible as is, and implementing a full-fledged A-Life the same way it worked in older games would probably absolutely obliterate the performance. At least it would seem so, mods which tried to extend its range so far come with huge performance hits. Extremely sad byt unfortunately true

With some mods the original games hold up pretty well visually. For example, Starter Pack for Shadow of Chernobyl is a pretty big visual transformation that preserves 99% of the vanilla experience. Of course the OG trilogy will always look primitive in comparison to Stalker 2 even with the best mods. But gameplay wise they are just as good if not better. Especially the first and third games which both have a super tight main quest and a progression system that feels earned. The way Stalker 2 handles mutant spawns and A-Life in particular sucks. Way too many bloodsuckers, too many pop-up encounters where it feels like the AI is there just to put on a show for you. The Zone feels mysterious and alive in the old games, and when you found guys wandering around it felt like they had been there a while. And with the right mods it can still look pretty darn good. Particularly Anomaly with all of its accompanying mods can be especially pretty. Nearly as good looking as Stalker 2 in some ways. I still enjoy Stalker 2, and am overjoyed that it's actually a quite decent game. But the originals will always remain in my rotation.

I feel like some of the details are accidental and not deliberately added to impress - which is enjoy the most when they try to show off - ala Half Life Alyx etc.
In Call Of Pripyat you can kill yourself with you own weapon too. Just empty your mag in the air(aim above you and empty your mag, it works better with the M4 silencer on, and dont just fire like crazy, instead slowly, to manage the bullet spread.) and then wait till the bullets falls back from the sky. If you select the highest graphics settings, you can even see the bullets coming back at you. Just stand still and enjoy. xD Icing on the cake? Try RPG-7 in the same way, however you might need to run a bit to catch the rocket when it falls back.
I would think in real life it would be near impossible to do since it has to be perfectly straight and account for winds in the higher atmosphere. Also the closer to the South/North poles the bullet will return to the original shooting spot but closer to the equator it will deviate more East or West of the original shooting spot with perfect weather conditions. This test was down with dropping bullets instead of firing them as it would be stupid and illegal. Technically you would be more likely hit with stray bullets from other people firing bullets in the zone but that would enrage every player.
People who justify low FPS and poor graphics with the words “just look under what conditions they made it”, guys, you don’t want to know under what conditions and how many problems the developers encountered when releasing the first stalker.
First stalker had many bugs and horrible FPS and stutters. I am pretty sure they were not at war with their first game, just it was their first game is all. I could not play it until years later with a better PC. Also the graphics are great in this game.
Everybody mentioned ai system im the only one have problem with autosave? Once I finished sirca i went to plant area, i died by mutant my autosave got corrupted and i couldn't load my save so this game promised and failed to deliver people having good time on PC but on console with its enormous bugs it takes you months to finish the game sad this is the new generation of vid games.
The game is good I'm 24 hours in but I have to say the AI is the worst I have ever come across in a game. You can't stealth kill and take out a base without being seen. They always lock on to your position even if you try to hide. I really hope it gets sorted soon.
Not true at all. It shows us the studio which made these games hasn't. There are a boatload of these videos out there with multiple games getting compared. Many are even worse now, sure but there are quite a few doing things better as well.
Glad this was recommended, man i just wish they added all the a-life system into stalker 2 AND put some new things in it, that would be really great, liked and suscribed bratan!
@@danielwilke7574 I have been told by others that modders also confirm A-Life not in the game from digging around. That is why doing self-research is best in trying to find real answers. I just go by the Dev's information as that is the most correct answer which in the patch notes they tell you about A-Life being somewhat patched but still not fully working as it is supposed to be.
Purpose-built engine (Xray) vs "mass-produced" one (Unreal Engine 5). I think older games were better in some ways because they were focused on the experience rather than the graphics. Though you can argue even back in 2007, tech was still a highlight of this series (physics, A.I., etc) but not the focus of the experience. While I like Stalker 2, it does feel like a plug for UE5's Nanite and Lumen kinda how launch day Cyberpunk 2077 was really more about Raytracing than a working game. That came afterwards and they had to work harder than needed to even gain some trust back as a studio. I'll give a break for GSC because of the circumstances behind the development of S2 but they gave us their word they will fix it. I hope they keep to that promise.
Seems like they are working hard on it. They have already released multiple patches to fix things and a new one is to be expected in the next few days. Their community manager is also active with the community to make sure everything is getting fixed. I have high hopes that it will be playable in a month and in the next few will be completely fixed. For me it already is playable as I'm mostly just exploring and not really doing quests
Bruh do we have different games? In stalker 2 on my end they get mad if I even get close to them with a gun out or run if a grenade is thrown near them I’ve even had them follow me in town if I had my gun out and ignored them.

My fav is the memory leaks that result in guaranteed hitches after I’ve travelled about 8 Kilometers or loaded more than 3 saves. Having to restart every 30-60 minutes pisses me tf off. 12GB of VRam and 32GB of system memory and still full almost instantly.
The stealth is bad in the game, enemy's can spot you a distance away even through walls at times and shrubbery. It's basically broken. You can't even vault or climb a ledge. Story and lore is great but gameplay is its weakest point in my opinion. 6/10
Apparently the A-Life system is there but is buggy as heck. Most of its features are so broken they outright don't work. That's why there are some many weird behaviors that make the game feel more like Farcry than Stalker

Your Call of Pripyat was bugged, the Emissions look exactly the same as in Stalker 2, everything turns red, violent winds, and then you die.

The one thing that stands out as having had a lot of attention is the foley sounds for the firearms in STALKER 2 and the way they sound when firing.

First thing I noticed before the video is even 8 seconds in: Your PDA beeps when it picks up the signal of other nearby PDAs.
Npcs reacting to grenade in the old game, but not reacting in the new one… they feel really dead, not being aware of the surroundings at all..

You should have upped the call of pripyat FOV, I know its tedious as you cannot do it in game, but it fucking sucks that you compare them while CoP is set to default 50 FOV.

The Zone doesn't seem alive the same way as it did before, in older games. And I don't think it's something that could be fixed. The optimization of the game is terrible as is, and implementing a full-fledged A-Life the same way it worked in older games would probably absolutely obliterate the performance. At least it would seem so, mods which tried to extend its range so far come with huge performance hits. Extremely sad byt unfortunately true

With some mods the original games hold up pretty well visually. For example, Starter Pack for Shadow of Chernobyl is a pretty big visual transformation that preserves 99% of the vanilla experience. Of course the OG trilogy will always look primitive in comparison to Stalker 2 even with the best mods. But gameplay wise they are just as good if not better. Especially the first and third games which both have a super tight main quest and a progression system that feels earned. The way Stalker 2 handles mutant spawns and A-Life in particular sucks. Way too many bloodsuckers, too many pop-up encounters where it feels like the AI is there just to put on a show for you. The Zone feels mysterious and alive in the old games, and when you found guys wandering around it felt like they had been there a while. And with the right mods it can still look pretty darn good. Particularly Anomaly with all of its accompanying mods can be especially pretty. Nearly as good looking as Stalker 2 in some ways. I still enjoy Stalker 2, and am overjoyed that it's actually a quite decent game. But the originals will always remain in my rotation.

I feel like some of the details are accidental and not deliberately added to impress - which is enjoy the most when they try to show off - ala Half Life Alyx etc.

Vanilla Call of Pripyat does not looks like that, it seems you're using the OpenXray Engine...
In Call Of Pripyat you can kill yourself with you own weapon too. Just empty your mag in the air(aim above you and empty your mag, it works better with the M4 silencer on, and dont just fire like crazy, instead slowly, to manage the bullet spread.) and then wait till the bullets falls back from the sky. If you select the highest graphics settings, you can even see the bullets coming back at you. Just stand still and enjoy. xD Icing on the cake? Try RPG-7 in the same way, however you might need to run a bit to catch the rocket when it falls back.
I would think in real life it would be near impossible to do since it has to be perfectly straight and account for winds in the higher atmosphere. Also the closer to the South/North poles the bullet will return to the original shooting spot but closer to the equator it will deviate more East or West of the original shooting spot with perfect weather conditions. This test was down with dropping bullets instead of firing them as it would be stupid and illegal.
Technically you would be more likely hit with stray bullets from other people firing bullets in the zone but that would enrage every player.

guys, you don’t want to know under what conditions and how many problems the developers encountered when releasing the first stalker.
First stalker had many bugs and horrible FPS and stutters. I am pretty sure they were not at war with their first game, just it was their first game is all. I could not play it until years later with a better PC.
Also the graphics are great in this game.

Once I finished sirca i went to plant area, i died by mutant my autosave got corrupted and i couldn't load my save so this game promised and failed to deliver people having good time on PC but on console with its enormous bugs it takes you months to finish the game sad this is the new generation of vid games.

The game is good I'm 24 hours in but I have to say the AI is the worst I have ever come across in a game. You can't stealth kill and take out a base without being seen. They always lock on to your position even if you try to hide. I really hope it gets sorted soon.

Not true at all. It shows us the studio which made these games hasn't. There are a boatload of these videos out there with multiple games getting compared. Many are even worse now, sure but there are quite a few doing things better as well.

A-life is in the game. A modder confirmed it. Its just that it's broken due to bugs. The Devs are working on it though

That is why doing self-research is best in trying to find real answers.
I just go by the Dev's information as that is the most correct answer which in the patch notes they tell you about A-Life being somewhat patched but still not fully working as it is supposed to be.

Purpose-built engine (Xray) vs "mass-produced" one (Unreal Engine 5).
I think older games were better in some ways because they were focused on the experience rather than the graphics. Though you can argue even back in 2007, tech was still a highlight of this series (physics, A.I., etc) but not the focus of the experience.
While I like Stalker 2, it does feel like a plug for UE5's Nanite and Lumen kinda how launch day Cyberpunk 2077 was really more about Raytracing than a working game. That came afterwards and they had to work harder than needed to even gain some trust back as a studio.
I'll give a break for GSC because of the circumstances behind the development of S2 but they gave us their word they will fix it. I hope they keep to that promise.
Seems like they are working hard on it. They have already released multiple patches to fix things and a new one is to be expected in the next few days. Their community manager is also active with the community to make sure everything is getting fixed. I have high hopes that it will be playable in a month and in the next few will be completely fixed. For me it already is playable as I'm mostly just exploring and not really doing quests
Bruh do we have different games? In stalker 2 on my end they get mad if I even get close to them with a gun out or run if a grenade is thrown near them I’ve even had them follow me in town if I had my gun out and ignored them.

My fav is the memory leaks that result in guaranteed hitches after I’ve travelled about 8 Kilometers or loaded more than 3 saves. Having to restart every 30-60 minutes pisses me tf off. 12GB of VRam and 32GB of system memory and still full almost instantly.
A lot of this can be fixed with mods. They have a good base. I’m just glad there’s something new that’s not slop
The stealth is bad in the game, enemy's can spot you a distance away even through walls at times and shrubbery. It's basically broken. You can't even vault or climb a ledge. Story and lore is great but gameplay is its weakest point in my opinion. 6/10

Apparently the A-Life system is there but is buggy as heck. Most of its features are so broken they outright don't work. That's why there are some many weird behaviors that make the game feel more like Farcry than Stalker
