I love this bass. It’s weird. It has an SG body which you don’t see every day on a bass. It has so much personality and uniqueness and it fits Danny perfectly
Nice. My first bass (2nd owner) was a 1969 EB0. It's the only bass on my wall now. I adhered a thin soapbar guitar pickup meant to go over an acoustic sound hole in the bridge position so I didn't have to route it out. Sounds like a fender jazz. With new round wounds, the mudbucker and the bridge pickup together sound like a ballsy, clanky Rickenbacker. The short scale neck is so easy and fast. My dream bass is a short scale Alembic Stanley brown bass. Doubt very much I'll ever own one. Would consider having one only if I was still a pro, but even back then, I couldn't see spending that kind of money on any instrument.
You never know! I found a Spector NS2A in a pawn shop for $200! The battery terminals were corroded and it didn’t make sound, I’m sure is why they let it go cheap, but I fixed it in 5 minutes with a new connector. She’s my main axe now!
@@alphagt62 WOW. Nice, lucky find. I live in NYC, extremely unlikely I'd have such luck. Even Squier basses cost more than new in the pawn shops here! Crazy.
Yep! I have a 68 EB-O with an added 72 EB-3 bridge pickup, red like yours. I left it at my band's practice house and my lead singer split my headstock. So when I repaired it, I put on a new bridge, added a P-Bass pickup in the middle and refinished it in satin natural with a rainbow pickguard (which I eventually changed to black). It was my gigging bass from my first paying gig at age 14 until I was 28. I KNEW what your would sound like. Bravo and love your channel. I played 'All Right Now' a million times in my Top 40 at age 19. Thanks for the memories.
EB-3 was my dream guitar when I started out, thank you Jack Bruce, but couldn't come near affording one. Around 1974 or so I bought a well clapped out 1966 short scale. It was an absolute eye sore but still loved it. It got retired a few decades back but around five years ago I pulled it out and completely restored it. Even found a case for it and restored that too. The shop that sold it to me only had an EB-2 case so it had been living in that. It is so gorgeous now you don't want to play it. But I sure as do. The original varitone circuit is still in it and works as advertised. I even found an original string mute and put that back on it. Only thing I wouldn't put back was the string guard. Just got in the way.
I got chills once you played Andy Frasers bass line. He is one of my favorites aswell. Congratulations on your marriage, we all hope to find the one someday.
I feel you!! I have a 1965 EB-0 and it feels soooooooo good!! I swapped the pickup for a DiMarzio Model One, changed the pots for push-pulls so I can run it as a single coil or humbucker, serie or parallel. Amazing!! Keep up the good work!!!
@@MisterJWJ71for years I played a lined fretless Ibanez. I haven't picked it up since getting my hagstrom, but it's a fantastic bass. I hope it's treating you well
@@msawyer406 So far yes. I'm a guitar player and really just noodle around on bass but, I love the look of the Epiphone Zenith. The only down side I didn't expect was that it's a BOAT ANCHOR! Mine weighs about 10 pounds. I've seen people say that the weight can vary between 10 and 13 pounds. So, mine is a "light" boat anchor. LOL
Definitely cool to see you got one of those, any time I see them I immediately think of Jack Bruce and Andy Fraser, both of which are absolutely insane bass players in their own right
This was beautiful Danny! Absolutely loved how you put your finger tone into this behs, like your style (as I think with any bassist) has their own unique touch on a bass, more so plucking over pick , you implicated it on this EB. It really reminds me of how you used to play on those retrovibe and humbucker basses, your fingers with that muddy sound (best with mudbuckers)
Good Vid Danny, fellow Yorkshireman here, well from Barnsley now living for the last 25 years in Texas... Gibson SG bass my dream bass too... I have to do with a Yamaha due to financial limitations. Bradford City yaeh!
Awww just married!! Congratulations to the happy couple! She sounds great! I saw a Hendrix tribute recently and the guy was playing an EB0 and it sounded really sweet through the PA, really carried the sound. Glad you found your dream bass!
@@stumpythedwarf8712 I agree. My first bass was a 5 string and every bass I've bought after that has been a four string. I might get a six string at some point but I'll probably just buy one and stop there.
Congrats Danny, really gorgeous bass. Sounds great just D.I and with the mods it's clearly been a player's bass and and they're usually the good ones. Agree with you on the DB5 too

Your face says it all! What a pleasure to see you enjoying that bass. It sounds great, especially the pick playing was awesome! Keep up making great content, I'd love to see more long-form videos of you!
I recently got a gorgeous Scorpio red Mitchell MB200. It's active, and has my dream tone. My total dream bass is a brass-plated fretless BassLab 5 string with piezo and active magnetic pickups (MIDI, of course!)
This is also my dream behs! I have an Epiphone EB3 which has the full scale so it's a bit neck heavy and a the proportions are a tad off but it sounds great.
Congrats Bro! It sounds so good. Very smooth sound. Your playing is excellent so part of the smooth was you. Have fun with the new bass and thanks again for having such a great channel.
Gibson is the unsung hero of the behs world. Owned an RD for a while, now own a midtown I gigged and toured with. Thing held up so well and has stunning tone.
I'm happy for you man. I'm just a few weeks away from finally getting my custom dream bass. Life is short and when the reality lives up to the hype sometimes you've just got to go for it
Thats actually not a bad Stevie T impression. Way back in the day, my behs teacher had a factory second EB-O (had "second" stamped in the back of the headstock) that he let me try out. Super comfortable to play, super cool behs.
If you didn't know Danny was a BEHS Legend you know now. Homies chops came all the way through with this video. Playing super fast and slap and plucking everywhere is great but in my opinion if you cant drive it and stay in the pocket you just aren't a BEHS player. THIS in my humble opinion was a master class thank you Danny.
I have 2 Epiphone EB3 4 strings and the 5 string version. I've always been an SG person and playing them got me noticed and (low level) endorsed by Epiphone. The feel, the sound, it's just a beautiful thing. 🤘😎 glad you found "the one"!
Just gotta say that I really enjoy your vids! I appreciate that you love behs as much as I do! I have the goal of getting the same joy you have in getting your dream bass. That’s an awesome behs! Sounds great!
Came for the behs, stayed for the valid choice of the truly superior Aldi nose hair trimmer.

Oh man. That bass is beautiful. As a guy who got their dream bass back in December (Ric 4003 baby!) i know how you feel. Well deserved Danny!
Was your fingerboard lacquered?
I love this bass. It’s weird. It has an SG body which you don’t see every day on a bass. It has so much personality and uniqueness and it fits Danny perfectly
It also fits him in that he doesn't look so tiny when playing it. Win on both counts!

Andy Fraser is awesome. His playing on Mr Big is out of this world!
Wonderful catch on that beautiful thing Danny!

That first tone is giving strong James Jamerson vibes. Love it.

Andy Fraser's brilliant bass playing, Simon Kirke's drumming, Paul Rodgers vocals and Paul Kossof's amazing guitar. Free, GOAT!
