BEHS is the best instrument
Truly
It's the behst.
Yeah the vehry behst
I just started learning it it’s amazing !
I agree even though I can’t play anymore
"have I been drinking?" The amount of gear I have that showed up at my door without me knowing it was coming....
That is a good point. After a night of drinking I look in my email inbox and see these ‘Your Amazon Order…’ emails 😂
@marcusupshaw829 literally happened last month to me. Apparently, I was crushing on a DOD Ice Box so bad, I spent 140 USD without realizing it.
Did you all thank God for it?...
I must have missed Chuck Schuldiner's garage rock phase...
Haha, good one 😂.
Death was an all black American Punk band from the 70s.
The original Death, not the metal band.
I skipped past it but I saw all the comments and got so excited before I heard what death it actually was lol
While we're on the subject: Day 1 of asking for a video on Steve DiGeorgio's bass tone.
Fretless Escapades!!!@@binface9
Thank you Danny for making people know about Death, a criminally overlooked band.
More a dare than a suggestion : please do a bass and guitar cover of Living Colour "Wall" on this contraption.
VOUCH STAIN IS ONE OF THE BEST ALBUMS EVER
I Agree with the cover of "Wall"
He covered a Death song! Thank u so much for bringing more attention to them. They were ahead of their time.
You mentioned watching Thomas the Tank Engine….
So here’s a **FUN BEHS-based FACT** that involves Thomas the Tank Engine !
The Chief Modeler for the first series of “Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends” on TV was *TIM STAFFELL*
Who years before had been the one-time Bassist and Vocalist for a band called SMILE - alongside one Brian May on guitar/vocals, and Roger Taylor on drums/vocals.
When Tim Staffell decided to leave Smile for other opportunities with a band called Humpy Bong…
He was replaced on Lead Vocals by his Ealing Arts College classmate and friend FARROKH “FREDDIE” BULSARA.
Farrokh changed the band name to QUEEN, and his own name to FREDDIE MERCURY.
And then , after running through up to 7 bassists …
The band Queen finally met, auditioned and hired one young and shy 19 year old bassist named… JOHN DEACON !
And so that one fateful decision by TIM STAFFELL to leave his band resulted in TWO legendary outcomes:
1) QUEEN (And John Deacon’s rise to Bass Legend status)
2) The tv show adaptation of THOMAS THE TANK ENGINE.
Thanks for that info. I didn't know Tim Staffell was also the bassist, and I didn't know what he also did, so I'm glad to hear that he had a good outcome as well.
@@herseem here’s another “small world, innit?” piece of trivia involving Tim Staffell :
Once Tim was established as a working graphic artist, an American artist Jim Laurier approached him to design a “friendly-looking alien” for a magazine cover (July 1980 edition of Creepy magazine)
Tim took the commission, created said alien character (who read what looked like an alien glossy magazine), got paid and moved on…no big deal, right ?
A few years later, a long-time musician gained permission from Laurier to use that magazine cover art as the cover of his new solo album. (With a slight tweak of adding the musician’s picture on the alien’s reading material)
On the back of the album was the musician reading a copy of that Creepy magazine July 1980 edition, so it appears that the alien and the musician are reading about each other. Very cute repurposing, right ?
Here’s the twist - that musician was ROGER TAYLOR, for his solo album Fun In Space. (Released 6 April 1981)
He had no idea that his long-lost buddy Tim Staffell had designed the alien on the magazine cover…
And Tim had no idea his alien had been repurposed for Roger’s album !
Neither found out until the two reunited some years later, and Tim spotted the album (featuring his alien) on Roger’s mantelpiece while visiting his home.
@@imweakfordeaky thanks for telling that story, it's lovely to hear 😊
@@imweakfordeakyI would have never imagined Tim, of all people in this world, to be involved with Thomas!
Amazing detail! Goes to show that 2 odd decades of listening to Queen are not enough to know all about them :)
You're funny and entertaining 🎉 truly enjoying your company. Keep it up.
BEHS and Thomas, the Tank engine - a man of culture can be seen here!
Bold of you to try and change RUclips, your content definitely sticks out to me and I especially like your longer form content!
4:39 I fuckin died 🤣🤣🤣
That Dee Dee Ramone joke 💀
I'm so glad you covered Death. They were such a great band, I wish more people knew their music.
Thanks!
Day 141 of asking for Flea’s Behs tone.
0:25 I think no matter what I say it always leads to “look at new basses” 😂
big props for recognising Death.
I love your humor, man. These longer videos are entertaining and I also enjoy getting nerdy bass facts from your shorts
Charles B is for inspiration and ideas . You're for learning, laughing and loving.......THE BEHS!!!!!
This channel is super fun, and you're a helluva player... Thanks!
Tune the guitar to an open chord and use it as a drone note to play behs on top of, bonus if you use a slide on both.
dude, you and Jon Gomm together would be killer! I play guitar but when nobody is watching I play BEHS!! Love the channel, cheers!
I'm a punk bass player and just got a load of video production equipment, seeking to start my own bass social media. I'm also the same age as you and have been playing for 20 years on and off professionally. I also hate YT's advertising and monetization restrictions. I'll take all the flags and piss away all the money. I don't care. Mark my words Danny: We're going to collaborate one day!
Nice to hear a bit of Death.
As a drummer I thoroughly enjoy your views and opinions on behses.
Thanks mate!
Big ups with no ad, liked and commented for the algorithm 🎉
I wanted to comment too, to show my support and express my mirth but YT have been extra snide and completely removed the chance for me to leave a comment, except in reply to someone elses comment, in this case yours.
first time watching a video of yours that isn't a youtube short, this is very good
I mean Mike Rutherford from Genesis used to duct tape his Rick 4001 and Rick 12 string together to make it a double neck so you’re not that far. That bass is a golden relic! 😹😹
exactly what i was thinking!
I would love to see a rendition of all 20 minutes of suppers ready using that bass/guitar.
I did not know they were taped together!
@@stevecarter8810 ya there’s photos on google 😹 coolest thing ever. He eventually got his luthier to build him one but apparently his luthier was like “you’re crazy for wanting that” 😹 that’s what I read at least
Danny, I love your videos. You're so much more relatable than all these RUclipsrs who play bass. Unlike them, you're a bass player with a RUclips channel, and I mean that in the most flattering way.
Two things I hate. Basses with more than four strings. Slap bass.
That thing is fugly 😂 but you are the man so it sounds good 🙌❤️🔥
Hang in there Danny boy!!!!! I get paid Friday!!! 😅
I have never played the behs but I really enjoy your videos. Your entertainment value and skills are compelling.
That bridge looks familiar. I reckon that bass might have been made in Japan in the 80's. These were actually nice basses, and are getting collectable. Shame it's been cut in half. 😆 But save that piece of door panel mate. It's now the most valuable part.
I had a Hondo II P-bass that had these with unchromed brass saddles that went through-body like this. It was pretty good in fact, not surprising as many Japanese factories were all pretty recently kitted out with cnc. Encore were rubbish though.
03:55 in my opinion there is nothing wrong in that tone. I think it will sound great in a mix!
Just goes to show that the musician makes the instrument, not the other way around
I really admire you brave people who admit to the whole world that you are addicted it doesn't matter if it's fentanyl or BEHS. Keep up the good addiction🎸👍🏼
This comment has inspired me to get addicted to fentanyl
@@cocojinx9193it comes in a lot of pretty colors and a lot of them even change colors! Too bad it's extremely addictive and easy for people to OD on and destroys lives and stuff. I prefer to stick to beha.
@@cocojinx9193You and me both - blame Danny and The Bass ( sorry Behs..) 🤔
I think envy is acceptible, but jealousy is dangerous... Like snorkelling with flippers made from spam!
On the flow chart, you should have had the option "Have I been drinking... ENOUGH?" Hahahaha
Wtf, am I compelled to watch? Is it the accent/dialect? I couldn't give a crap about BEHS? But I enjoy your videos. I don't get it.
We call it gas.. Guitar acquisition syndrome. Can't help it. I have 10 to 15 stringed instruments. I'll never say no to more
Were powerless. Ask our angry wives
Day 20 of asking for Aston Barret’s bass tone (Bob Marley and The Wailers)
Help me on my quest
👇
Danny Danny Danny, you mek my fookin deh 😂😂
3:06 "if you dont know what rotherhams like, its a bit like this instrument. Shoddy."
As a sheffieldite who lifes about 15 minutes away from rotherham, can bloody confirm
I saw this on marketplace a couple of weeks ago. Well done to committing to it. It's great
Love Death! Would be cool if you covered “Politicians In My Eyes” at some point.
Burn it whilst playing some Motörhead really f**king load
Move over Charlie Boy, I’d rather watch an entertaining and honest Danny and smile any day of the week. BEHS is the word 👍
Dude more people need to listen to the For the Whole World to See album from Death. Props for covering Keep on Knocking. One of my all time favorites!
dont worry danny im an addict too i just bought an old BEHS from the 80's it was just the body and im tryna find parts for it rn i looked it up and well its worth a couple thousand and the parts will only cost like 200 dollars so sometimes buying something just for fun can work out pretty damn well so yes BEHS imma look at BEHS'S DRINKING OR NOT DRINKING
i only spent 20 dollars on the thing and all i gotta do is get pickups for it
I'm paying up a black Epiphone Les Paul Special bass at a nearby Cash Converters at the moment. Can't wait to make the last payment on it!
Day 136 of asking for Matt Destruction's bass tone (the Hives)
2:27 I NEED that Garfield bass, man…
ikr!! its epic
Good day from across the pond. You are a breath of fresh air. I needed this video today. Thank you and "Maye the Bass be with you."
When someone drunk heard of Mike Rutherford. "Wut a guitar and a bass together? Ay can do that"
That looks like it needs a Mark King behs strap so the big E string rattles your nipples, then them otherwise 6 strings will be in easy reach....
i typically don’t comment but thank you danny for not selling out and valuing keeping the music alive over making a quick buck! in this day and age advertising is far too common, and it’s a breath of fresh air refusing sponsorships.
I have an idea for a future video with that double neck. I'm thinking a Bon fire.
Raising awareness of Death. Nice one!
You can make some kinda Mike Rutherford reference with that Bhes,. Thanks for making an old reggae base player laugh our loud.
I think that chart needs to be a lot bigger and with a lot more complexities
Recreate Jimi Hendrix setting his guitar on fire at Monterey Pop Festival. Just don't burn your hands like Hendrix did. Or smash it like Paul Simonon did for "London Calling."
Video is less than 6 minutes and he doesn't even start tot get to the topic until 3 minutes in....Oy!
you could play a Mike Rutherford part with that...
Thanks Danny for your EXCELLENT BEHS program. Very entertaining and informative. I am a diehard Behsist and I love all things BEHS….your program at the forefront. You and Davy504 rule the BEHS roost ! If all politicians learned BEHS… it would be a better world.
Takeshi from Boris uses one of those (Rickenbarker)
If you've travelled, GBP surely?
The Death documentary is great if anyone dug the song
I like this fella
Guitarrista puede ser cualquiera, para ser bajista hay que nacer.
I love the death album and you featuring keep on knocking made my day.
Use things like this for Prog Rock. Get a vintage Shergold (spelling?). Thanks! 🎻🙂😎
Sacrifice it to Odin using fire. Lots and lots of fire.
Bonfire mate.... least it'll warm yeh
Found your channel because I was looking up behs ukulele. I'm unlikely to ever play behs, but love your channel.
You can play some progressive rock with this thing.
Dau 26 of asking for Audi Pitres bass tone from Acid Bath
the flying kipper is my favorite episode too, danny.
I'm okay with adds especially if they were for Bass stuff
I'm really looking forward to the day you're opening your Behs Pro Shop
This is hilarious Danny! 😂🤘🏼🎸🎶 Love your content!
I came here to drink and look at fishes
Danny you neeeeed to make a video on fieldy
you're an entertaining guy Danny
this is a really cool video, just wanna take the time to appreciate that you didn’t do an ad read, I really appreciate it
Love the videos!
Love the content Danny. All I watch at the moment. Have you done any videos on Jj Brunel ? Cheers
Working on one right now
Danny that was f#*@ing hilarious. I mean it, I was LOL no no no f#*k that.. I was LAUGHING OUT LOUD for christs sake! Hey I reckon for that bass you should add another neck.. like with Banjo, Lute or Sitar strings or something f#^*ed up like that. Love the channel & greetings, peace & cheers from Gaz here in Sydney DownUnder mate.
Well I haven’t been drinking, I’ve been smoking 😎 so NEW INSTRUMENTS YAY
Oh mate! Is that a genuine Yamaha SG1000? 😃 After-market vibrato bridge? 🙂
And speaking of Encore, I'd bought their 3/4-size Strat some years ago, for my two Sons when they were still little, and it had taken quite a few modifications before it was finally able to be played in standard tuning (It was originally tuned to A) 😅
My Sons had hardly ever played on it, though. So it's meanwhile become my travel guitar 😄
You need to design a steve vai 'hydra' bass version....
Keep not doing Ads Big Man
You should really do more longform content!
Great vibes, subscribed.
I'm an American but live in Sheffield UK now...trying to place the accent, where are you from??
You drove to Rotherham so maybe not far away from Sheff?
I thought Blackburn.
I thought this is irish
@@edelweiss- I think he's from Leeds area UK
Thanks for giving a little much-deserved love to DE🔺️TH !
For those unaware, listen to the album, 'For The Whole World To See' and watch the documentary, 'A Band Called Death' in that order.
It's an amazing tale!
YO HELL YEAH PLAYING DEATH!!! Those dudes were the real first punk band
Love the longer vids. Shorts are fun but fun don't pay the bills! 4 hander that "thing" for sure! Next, perhaps some pryo on the back of the next and send it to Valhalla? Something that "unique" could throw off the whole balance of the universe and who knows what could happen. Global cooling? World Peace? We can't risk it!!!!
Day 108 of asking for Necrobutcher of Mayhem’s BEHS tone!
Charles Berthoud vs Danny Sapko. Mate! No contest! It's Char... er no too serious by half. Got to be Danny every time. 100% laugh out loud behs entertainment. Love your channel.
I wish I could play bass, I tried a lead a few years ago but struggled because I’ve got chipolata fingers.
I’m into doom/stoner/sludge where bass is very prevalent 👌🏼👌🏼
That’s my favorite episode of season 1. I like the follow up, whistles and sneezes
I always followed the equation X=Y+1 where X is the ideal number of BEHS to own, and Y=Current number of BEHS in your ownership
The obvious answer is Xanadu!
Shame, that Danny Sapko, always forgetting about Geddy Lee
