The worst part of this is that she didn’t know she had the right to leave that horror of a hospital years before she did. Her mother led her to believe that she needed her mother’s permission to leave. So horrible.

She said on this is your life ...That she wasn't an abuser of drugs and alcohol and she was miss diagnosed by the hospital and had to work to get better on her own. When she was on that show. Much of what was being said about her must of been lies, because her facial expressions were her looking bewildered and angry by what was being said. It sounds to me like a women who wouldn't play the hollywood games so they went after her. I'm sure they had her arrested and hospitalized to silence her.

I just looked up Frances Farmer's natal astro chart. She had Mars conjunct Pluto - 1* apart in Cancer, no less!
Mars: "When this dominant is not well integrated, it may bring about an aggressive or impulsive behaviour. Therefore, you must learn to control your hyper-sensitivity and your fits of temper. You are also endowed with Marsian qualities: the fighting spirit and the taste for duel without which one may find oneself overwhelmed by events."
She has EP, ASC, her natal Sun, and Mercury (her mind) in Virgo which can cause a lot of highly critical thinking that can kinda drive one crazy.
Janduz says the following about her Virgo Sun:
"One has numerous and mighty enemies. The more victorious one is, the more hatred one arouses. The rise to power and fame goes hand in hand with loss of happiness. This degree is influenced by two fixed stars, Benetnash and Labrum. The former portends fights, oppression and violent death."
and her Moon: "...self-leniency and excesses of all sorts bring about many a trouble."
Task Master Saturn: "this degree heralds that years of prosperity are followed by ruin and destitution."
Her Mars in the 10th House: "If you go looking for trouble, you'll get it. The most important thing for you is to show your fighting spirit, and to assert your rights and ambitions whether other people like it or not. You display dynamism, and at times, impulsiveness. "
Mars Degree: '"A woman dressed in black is desperately weeping on a sofa, a bunch of withered flowers in her hand." (Janduz version)
Her Venus by Janduz: "Naive, indecisive, and weak character. Dangers and deceits crop up since childhood. They come from outsiders but also from the family circle. One tends to seek help from the very people who are envious and willing to harm. It is strongly recommended not to trust anyone, and never to talk about one's successes, even with family members, because some relatives covet the assets of the person born under the influence of this degree. Should the natal chart concur, a sudden disease such as meningitis may affect the head."
    RIP Frances Farmer. 💐

Google 'my natal chart' and fill out the basic birth info they ask for and your chart will come up.
Then you can read the free info they give you like at astrotheme (my fave)

As a psychotherapist, I empathize deeply with the plight of patients who were imprisoned against their will in horrid conditions. I would expect sexual abuse because she was a beautiful woman in the control of mad scientists. It was a time when people who ran these places took power over their patients and felt they were justified. It wasn’t right but, like with any history, it happened, we learned from it and now people are not involuntarily hospitalized. There are situations, such as in court with criminals, and when someone has guardianship. We have medications now and these places are much more humane. I visited a state hospital in 1980, and have since seen them as a social worker and to tour one to give to people as a resource in my practice. It is like night and day from what I saw in 1980. Psychology has come a long way. It is much more humane. Thankfully. Maybe almost in memory of Frances.

It's very likely she had bipolar syndrome. A lot of people with bipolar are very misunderstood very difficult to deal with if you've ever lived with one and very argumentative and disruptive at times. I realize now they can't help it but it could be misconstrued as just a difficult personality or drug addiction

I hate to say this but I think she suffered from mental illness however ,I don't think that doctors or the public understood someone who may have been suffering from a disease such as drug or alcohol addiction. I think back at this day and time they thought the person was crazy. They did not believe the victim , only believing what family members were saying. I understand this when someone in my family was 302 for things they said , when maybe they didn't mean them but were angry at the time and they said thing's they didn't mean. However because someone reported them police came and took them away. So I can understand how Francis Farmer may have felt.

I think she was great!!! I'd seen the movie of her life in the 70s. I was a teen & after that I watched & listened to & read about everything I could on her. She was just a misunderstood farm girl from the Midwest with an Over Bearing, Old Wanna Be, Hateful,Jealous Mother who used her Precious Daughters Fame & Story to fuel her own lies & control issues. Now days that old bag wouldn't be allowed to do those horrible things to her daughter just because she would not conform to her rules. She lied on her & whatever it took to have her locked up & tortured until she did. IT is a sad & all too true Hollywood Story.
