I was really hoping to see you set up a Nano from new or 'from reset' then restore with the 24 words/ and then the passphrase.. this is what we need to see correctly if we had to get access to the passphrase account on a new device.
Hi there, We will forward your feedback to our team for review. Thank you for your support.
@@Ledger what happened to the follow up of this matter? I was expecting to see that as well. Since the passphrase is linked only to the 24 word recovery password on the device that was originally created, what's the process to restore it on a new device?
I'd to see Ledger's thoughts on the complexity of passphases and what strategies and goals might be considered when determining to create a mild, mid, and high entropy passphrase.
Thanks for your sharing !
Great video, keep them coming!
Happy the videos are helpful! We will keep them coming for sure 🎬

I'm a little bit confuse. In the case I had a first Ledger device and on this device, when I setted up my first account I had previously added a passphrase. Does this mean that with only the Recovery phrase I will not be able to recover my account ?
Do I need to have both Recovery Phrase and the Old Pass Phrase in order to be able to access my account like before ?
or
It's the Recovery Phrase need to recover your old accounts and the Pass Phrase is only to separate the account authorization ?
Did the passphrase account only available at Ledger Device?
or it can also be recover from other brands device that support the same coins?
Can the Pass Phrase account be recovered in any wallet other than the ledger, with the 24 words Recovery phrase + its 1 associated Passphrase.
example: If I loose my ledger (or ledger goes out of stock/bankrupt etc) and I don't have any access to a new ledger for days, and in an emergency I want to access my funds of my "PASSPHRASE ACCOUNT" through a software wallet. will that be possible?
Thanks!
Hi, Your concern is legit. Don't worry, all the recovery phrases and passphrases created by your Ledger device comply with the BIP39 standard - github.com/bitcoin/bips/blob/master/bip-0039.mediawiki
Hence, you can enter your recovery phrase + passphrase in the BIP39 compatible wallets (like a Trezor, ColdCard, Electrum etc.) to get access to your cryptos. You can have a look at this article on how to recover your passphrase accounts - support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/4983095135261-How-to-recover-your-passphrase-accounts-?support=true
Please note that passphrase setup is mainly for advanced users, so please have a look at this article before you proceed - support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005214529-Advanced-passphrase-security?docs=true
Regarding your concern about Ledger going out of business, you can read this article - www.ledger.com/academy/what-if-ledger-goes-out-of-business
The Safepal soft wallet has the option of inputting the 25th word (passphrase) recovery. And it gives you the choice of 12 or 24 word recovery phrase as well. It's nice to know there's a soft wallet back up if all hardware wallet companies go bankrupt.

if you enter your pin wrong 3 times and have to restore the device with the 24 word seed and create a new pin, would this new pin only be associated to your main wallet
This is the question: i set my passphrase linked to my PIN. Do my regular PIn account and pass phrase account share the same recovery phrases?
so it means you first recover your regular account, power the ledger, and log in with your passphrase account..is that right?
I don't need to recover my passphrase yet but these instructions are quite difficult. I can't really follow it too well but will watch it again until I understand it..
am i right in saying that you restore your passphrase account by simply adding a new pin and passphrase ?
Is adding a passphrase any extra security (say someone guessing the 24 word one day) or is it merely an extra layer of protection in the event someone finds the 24 word seed? I suppose without the passphrase the 24 word is 256bit and rather secure by itself?
24 seed is already secure as long as you dont loose them or someone brute force them ., is extra accounts where you cant access unless you got that extra word /phrase .
Mitzie i love you lots my dog ❤
I have 3 ledger nano x and I set a phassphrase. But I don’t think I moved the funds to phassphrase. I mixed up all the accounts and which one I set the phassphrase. I couldn’t find the regular account that the phassphrase was set to. I think I found the regular account. The ledger connected to the account but the something wrong prompt keep coming up. I ended up attaching pin and phassphrase to all acounts. When I run the recovery check it was always correct. I thought it would say it wasn’t correct if I had phassphrase attached? Like I said I think I found the ledger that is attached to recovery accounts that my funds are in cause when I added accounts it pulled up those accounts. But wouldn’t send cause said recovery or phassphrase wasn’t connected. I really need to figure this out. Please help. I’m so confused
Passphrase set up is a bit complex. We might need to dig a little deeper to find out what's happening with this one. Head over to support.ledger.com and click on the Contact Us button in the bottom right to open up a support ticket. One of our agents will be in touch soon! 🙏🏻

my ledger on my desktop keep on saying invalid passphrase but when i did in ledger it is working.. whats the issue can you help me plz.
I love the idea of the passphrase but I don't like that you can't restore to "any" BIP39 wallet, it needs to be a hardware wallet. That's not great in a disaster recovery/urgent situation trying to restore. I trust in the blockchain but I don't trust being locked to a hardware device with no option of recovery elsewhere. Until there is more widespread universal use of the passphrase system I just don't feel comfortable locking in like that.
Is this still the situation?
i lost my ledger and only have my recovery phrase... it is so confusing as on the ledger website they say one only needs the recovery phrase... here, these guy says one needs both the passphrase and the recovery...
Let’s see you set up a new ledger device like say I wanted a new ledger S + as an upgrade what do I do if I use my 25th word pin to access my accounts ?
goddam man... that EXATCLY what he did on this video.... just watch it..
@@JaInvisto Yes but he didn't explain if the Pass Phrase he used must be the same as the previous pass phrase on the old wallet or if the Passphrase can be a new one !!..
@@nkobrs21 each passphrase creates a new set of wallets... you may have more than one passphare on the same ledger devide... if you enter the 24 words of the seed phrase + the same passphrase, them you may recover that specific account on a new ledger device
Question: how can we do Passphrase Recovery check ?
👆🏻👆🏻I thought all hope was lost when I lost crypto
due to scam and I was searching for ways to
recover them not until I met him #cyber_rims , he is
surely a life saver
I have a comment. If the original 24 seedphrase can be hacked, why not just create a passphrase account and put all your funds in the 25 passphrase account?
how can the 24 seedphrase get hacked? it cannot unless you share it or someone will steal it
this is how i understand your passphrase setting info:
1. passphrase is a secret wallet or hidden wallet with different PIN or passphrase PIN
2. passphrase wallet and regular PIN wallet share the same 24 recovery words
3. to recover passphrase wallet use the 24 recovery words + passphrase PIN
4. to recover passphrase wallet, log in with passphrase PIN and recover
5. to recover regular account, log in with regular PIN to recover
confusion is here: what is the 1234 you mentioned
does the ledger ask you for the passphrase when you recover with your 24 words?
Mitzie’s i love you loo❤our dog
UPDATE : You're almost right ! 😛
It only recovers your passphrase wallet (and all its associated accounts) if you enter same exactly the same passphrase, otherwise it creates a new passphrase wallet but do not erase the existing one. That means you can have 2 devices associated to same "classic" wallet (=same recovery phrases and accounts) but with 2 differents passphrases (and different "secret" accounts).
It's there a limit for secret accounts?
I understand what you said. But if I'm only able to restore a Ledger device with only the recovery phrase but I forgot the previous passphrase, does this mean that I will not be able to access to the fund ? I think I misunderstand the definition of wallet, account, address
PLEASE Up date the exange section. Mor diversity of coins .Just on ethereum is mad the Fees too high.
simple way is this....since you link your passphrase to regular PIN why not just recover regular account and power off then log back in with passphrase account then reinstall the blockchain again to the ledger wallet? I think this should have been the easiest way

Hi there, We will forward your feedback to our dedicated team for review. Thank you for your patience.
one question: what if, when I do the restore passphrase account, i "set up passphrase" with a different one? THX
Thanks for the question, if you type a different passphrase into the device you won't be able to access your old passphrase accounts. When restoring your passphras accounts it's important that both the 24-word recovery phrase and the exact same passphrase are seeded in the device. Hope this answers your question!
@@Ledger yes and no... so, I will never be able to recover the old "passphase account" or I will be able to recover it by re-entering the 24 seeds and the right passphase?? .. thx
Good question and apologies for the confusion, assuming the correct 24-word recovery phrase is seeded into the device, you can always overwrite your current passphrase with a new passphrase (or an old passphrase that secures your old accounts). The process of overwriting a passphrase is exactly the same as the steps for setting up a passphrase. Overwriting a passphrase doesn't "destroy" the accounts secured by that passphrase, it simply "loads" a new set of passphrase accounts into the device. Hope this helps clarify but don't hesitate if you have any other questions :)
@@Ledger thank you
You're welcome, don't hesitate if you need anything else!
Now I'm really confused, please make the small screen big, I think you need to re do the entire video, make it bigger and easy to see and understand, please!
Please make the ledger readable in the video. The tiny screen in the corner is useless for instructions.
I'm having trouble recovering my algorand wallet. I have thousands in the wallet. My issue is that algo/ledger only gives you 24 words for the passphrase but 25 is what is needed apparently and I am unable to get back into my wallets. I got a new phone BTW this is the reason for the loss. I am still logged in on my PC so if anything I will make new wallets. If anyone has a fix please let me know thanks 😊
Hello there, to better clarify, the recovery phrase that only you know is composed of 24 words. Did you by any chance add a 25th passphrase? Make sure the need to have both the 24 words + the 25th passphrase you set up in order to be able to access your funds support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/4983095135261-How-to-recover-your-passphrase-accounts-?support=true
