Just wanna say Thank you. Both of you. This kind of content is appreciated among all the videos by smaller creators who try to become relevant by riding hate trains and bashing every fighting game in existence.
Whenever a new fighting game drops it always gets a ton of love at the start then after a couple months or a year or so ppl start trashing it for almost no reason. Tis the fighting game community cycle.
@@HowlerofDeath I can tell you 2 reasons why Tekken is under fire right now. Same with region lock problems in early SF6. There's always a reason for scrutiny. The hate with no reasons are actually a small percentage of the hate, they're just trolls.
@ Yeah, i know, its just nice to have content creators like Max and Phidx who don’t support blatant hate, even if they criticize something, its constructive, but they mostly focus on making positive content, so i decided to thank them for it. But yeah, at this point no matter what i look up, SF, Tekken, MK, GG, Sparking Zero, etc, hate videos just pop up and it can be tiring after a while.
the coaching sessions have been a joy to watch so far but this one was truly something special. this is probably one of the most fun tekken videos i've ever seen!
@@gr4ndsoulfreak you should try phi's channel he has vids way more in depth with people and they actually Improve tons. I just wish max would test himself against someone phi actually is used to playing with
Max literally said something which is exactly how I feel, This is literally easier to play when playing against someone who understands the game. For me it's just more fun than just frame trapping people to death in ranked or just playing against people who just smash armor moves all game.
I had to stop playing takken because of health issues unfortunately but content like this makes my day. Love seeing so much love a respectful gameplay and genuine care for the game makes me want to pick it back up. Even though I know I can't. Its amazing seeing these types of videos being made :D
Gotta say, i’m most envious of the friendly attitude while they play each other. My friends either loathe fighting games or they’re too competitive and just want to talk shit the whole goddamn time and measure dicks. I just want the friendly but still competitive back and forth like these dudes have.
Love this format, Max. Couldn't stop smiling the whole time. It's super fun to watch and learn, while watching you both learn from each other with the equally wholesome and hilarious commentary. Then with the yodelling BGM was perfect hah.
The thing about tekken king, not that I doubt you'll get it, is that they are wayyyyyy better than bushin whenever I fight them. I think the transition is super difficult for some reason
I saw somebody else talk about this but I think it has to do with the weird matchmaking centered around Prowess. If you are GoD, then your secondaries are Tekken King. Normally, this wouldn’t be an issue cuz their Prowess would be too high to match with. But because there are a lot fewer players Tekken King and above, it increases the acceptable Prowess range at Tekken King or higher to help find matches more quickly. That’s why there’s such a crazy wall between blue ranks and the rest above them. I know that the latest patch tried to give the users the option to adjust this but it’s seen mixed results
Not exactly, reaching Tekken king isn't that hard, BUT AFTER u reach it for the first time your prowess is over 210K which is the point where it is high enough to match with anybody, even GODs. On their alt chars. It's not uncommon to de-rank all the way down to Fujin, Raijin once u got to Tekken King the first time. (Happened to me as well) and you'll match with others who are at the same place, those who are super knowledge-Check heavy and also really good players more often. It's a new game almost. You can literally feel it when u play a good GOD player, the intentionality of everything they do is scary sometimes. U have to climb the blue ranks all over again under those conditions, at least in my experience.
I don't even play this game but for some reason it always put a smile in me seen the "coach" videos. This was wholesome and awesome 😄. It basically reminded me when I used to play fighting games with friends without being mad or toxic when losing, which clearly i don't play anymore.
This was the most fun Tekken I've watched! Phi is such a fun and genuine guy, and all of his big brain on Tekken data. You guys together are a super nice combo, and I hope we can get more of those sessions for your other characters or maybe even going to God of Destruction
man, I love seeing how much fun Max has with this game, especially against people who play like this. So, he can actually use that big ass brain of his
Damn dude, it's been a while since I've felt the joyous comradery of "oh, you piece of shit" of playing against a friend that you can trade games back and forth with.
That's what I wish tekken 8 was like online. It's such a struggle in ranked that even winning feels more exhausting than rewarding. Particularly the blue and gold ranks.
Some of the matches felt like straight bullying lmao. I really enjoyed the series, felt like 2 people munching quarters and hugging an arcade cabinet improving mutually. Tekken 8 is cool!
This is sooo much fun to watch! Especially as a lower rank Lars main myself. Need to revisit this series again! Also wish I knew the combo they do when juggling to the wall.
Tekken 8 was my first Tekken that Im serious about learning and from what im currently seeing on Phi vs Max is that, Lars Vs Lars is like “Who can out bullshit who with Lars’ move list” 🤣
I've not played since August, but these are really making me want to play again. Not sure I like the idea of jumping back in at blue ranks completely out of practice though, I was switching between 4 characters (only 1 at blue mind you) so not even sure if my muscle memory will still be there. Also still not a fan of the video cutting out parts of the actual fight, but still a great watch this one. Not quite as much cut out as the last video it felt like which is something at least.
This really helped me with my Lars! I started with him at garyu and with just 2 days made it to flame ruler. My main is Jin but definitely gonna shoot for fujin or raijin with Lars
woo i like the transitions in the video editing, how you use a punches to cut boring parts, so good! Also dude, you make me want to play tekken 8 once again!
Max got skills... I like what he was doing overall for milage...and it seemed like he was the Better larz player. What PHiX said in the beginning was entirely true regarding that, but besides general Tekken experience, PHI was better at the poke game and picking his moments to throw out options Max typically doesn't use often as well as switching from offense to defense at the right times. Overall PHI has slightly better defense, and adjustments to what's happening and making a counter strategy, every other category I would attribute to MAX being better like PHIX stated in the beginning of the video. That's why it was close for a lot of games which given that he should have one....also second chance opportunities that let him back into the game from large leads, which if he can keep the momentum, he can close out more often and more consistently proceed mostly forward in the ranks vs. titering forward then backwards as much as u progressed. It like the Yuyu Hakusho fight were he's battling one of Sensui's personalities as the villain states the hero is stronger, faster and more agile, etc (We all see PHIX give this same speech in the beginning)..which yusuke thinks is bs, struggling to win, because he still struggling to land clean hits and a Decisive knock out punch to end the fight. Moreover It's just the adjustments that the villian makes during the fight that gives him the advantage and turns the fight to a more favorable outcome. For example, he would turn his cheek slightly as he notices the incoming punch to slide off his face(even tho not fast enough to fully avoid it) to make it less impactful, deducing and adjusting to his linear patterns of attack. If max can incorporate some of the things or principle ideas of what PHIX was trying to display he would definitely be on another level and stronger to go forward to reach his end goal rank.
watching you two enjoying tekken 8, make me want to play it. instead of sulking it and complain about how bad tekken 8 is (Arslan...cough) you guys just straight up having fun.

How does one get a coach by the way? I usually can get high ranks I’m fighters but Tekken just has so much for a 2d player... I’ve gotten to purple by myself but can’t get past it
If you meant coaches like PhiDX, you're gonna have to have connections or friends that know certain people. Or you could see if your local area has Tekken tourneys or meetups. If not, you'll just have to settle with online tutorials, personal labbing sessions, and online ranked matches.
