I followed MainMan's beginner guide in addition to my previous knowledge: ruclips.net/video/pUnxkVuVn54/видео.html At higher ranks 1,1 was liable to getting bodied by evasion, hence why the gameplay changed
Hey! I was the Lili in this video!! Really informative info even though it is directed towards Kazuya play, helped me see some of my issues as I continue learning to play leverless as a stick main for like 4 years
Loved the Maximilan series, Phi! A collab with Masku right after would be a total win for me. They're two different personalities I enjoy binging on separate occasions. And you making Tekken content with both of them kind of built a bridge in my brain that I never thought would connect. It'd be great if you guys get to play in an online tourney or something -- the banter on top of the plays would be hella entertaining imo
you really might be the goat tekken youtuber. I picked up kazuya yesterday and didn't feel like sifting through a combo video finding 1 or 2 that work with all his pickups like I always do, so I just put it off. Open youtube to see that you already did all the hard work for me! fantastic video
Memes aside, I genuinely decided to try Kazuya after watching this and I finally found my character. I had been bouncing around the roster this entire time and not once did i think Kazuya would be my choice but after playing him and learning some of this execution, He's super fun. Thanks for the kickstart Phi.
Thanks Phi! Currently trying to learn more Kazuya since September. As someone who took on learning the game instead of mashing for fun just this year, this helped quite a handful for a relatively condensed guide for Kazuya. I still need to be more consistent with his electrics though XD.
Really cool content! Hope you do more of it. As a Yoshi main I'm obviously hoping for a video on him, but imo all of these videos, especially your "Tekken King in 3 days" series is very helpful for absorbing universal matchup information.
hey phi, love this style of videos, really helps in understanding how yall think and what do you guys actually look out for. please make more of them!!
i think to emphasize, its great that you're not only teaching how to use certain characters but also explaining what your opponent is doing, what to look out for and possibly what to do to solve the issue @PhiDx
I think you should do more content like this. Very fun to watch, to see how even you struggle with playing other characters besides of your mains. Big fan of the series
This is my favorite series of yours yet. I use verbatim the exact same method to pick up fighting game characters (find the good moves first, find your situational moves/launchers, get a basic combo ender and then feel em' out from there). Only issue is as a Tekken rookie I don't have old knowledge of most characters "big moves" and those huge movelists make it hard for me actually find the good bits(wavu n other online guides are nice but most productions come off as "unfinished/unpolished"). With you pretty much doing the hard part for me... man if you round out the whole cast with this series you're gonna make a jack of all trades outta me.
"As a Kazuya player you kinda have to be kind of a d*ckhead" - You're honestly so right about this. I find myself reducing my hellsweep count because I start to feel bad and I avoid grabs (a holdover from couch Tekken when grabs were homeruled to 1/round). naturally I lose almost every time because I'm identifying weaknesses then ignoring them. Need to adopt that South American Kazuya philosophy. Also, a question: You mention ws4,4 is really good, but I have always avoided it like the plague because on hit its -4, putting you in a 'cant attack or sidestep' (iirc) situation despite being a punish. As Kaz you, you yourself say, need to be constantly applying pressure because being passive = death, I cant justify putting myself at -4 for a bit of damage (and I avoid ws4 despite it being +8 in case I accidentally throw out the follow-up 4) because I'm immediately on the back foot again. Am I overthinking the downside of it being -4 or is it valid to be cautious of applying it? Edit: I was wrong about sidestep limitations at -4, -6 is unsidesteppable; thanks guys.
It’s good to be cautious but not in such a way where you won’t use it. you can test your opponent with it and see what their response is, at -4 if it’s blocked you can catch your opponent taking their turn with forward 2 (power crush) and try to interrupt the punish unless they jab I’d really recommend getting use to only ws4 and not 4 4 Ws4 on block into df2, while it isn’t actually a frame trap. It works so well even in blue ranks D4 to leg kick and enter crouch, ws4 their block, then df2, 40% chance you get that counter hit df2 because people want to take their turn
@@TarktheTurk Thanks very much, thats all really useful stuff that I'll need to try out. I struggle with ws4 because T7 got me into the habit of needing to mash punish to avoid bad connection ruining the timing of punishment, so that makes ws4 hard to manage for me - Ill need to get out of that muscle memory tbf, T8 is much more stable I feel so that habit isnt needed.
I want to see you follow Lil Majin’s King guide next! I think this would be a good series. Because you’re a great coach, so to see you critique/modify others guide to your own playstyle is interesting
I aways watch the mainman vids, since he dropes combo videos in tk6, but i gotta say, your videos is getting more more fun to watch. Hope you guys can make more content together some day. Keep going with the excepcional job.
Commenting as a Mighty Ruler Kazuya player and a Phi fan -- I was waiting for this vid :D Question for you, Phi -- how important would you say things like KBD and Wave Dashes are for Kaz's game plan?
for the wave dash ws2 i saw a momo dog video and he said qudans told him to just crouch into 2 on devil jin instead of the difficulty cancel for the ws2 and i think the same can be done on kazuya its just a little bit slower but if its good enough for qudans it’s good enough for me
I just cancel the crouch dash with forward into ducking, it's a bit slower I think, but the high execution cancel is too hard to do consistently, so I just do it in the easy, slower, but consistent way, still can get stuff like standing 2, down 2 or even db2 sometimes because sometimes you press the 2 too early(or if you want to do WS1,2 you get dickjab or standing 1,2), but it's a lot safer than getting accidental wgfs, I think. This is funny because I have no problem doing Bryan's instant FCDF2/4 which is a very similar input to crouch dash cancel. I mean it's basically just 1 less crouch dash, because the crouch dash into forward ducking will replace the last crouch dash you would do to cancel it into ws2. It's probably covers less distance, and you will not realign with the opponent that well(matters more for ws1,2 and ws1+2), plus if you go for WS1+2 you will have a few standing 1+2 missinput which is bad. And also the animation is a bit more obvious, but not that noticable.
The most important rules to play Kazuya: - 1,1,2 punish everything - Do the hardest and most inconsistent combos possible - Hellsweep - Drop your rage art mid combo - Learn FF2~F > CD1+2 > 5x EWGFs > microdash B2>2,1+2 for hardest max dmg heat dash combo... For the famous 69 number
You made me realise how advance i was with kazuya but im learning alot from this im doing combos that are insane like ewgf x2 dash ewgf dash 3,1,4 cancel df1,4 or df1,2 or fddf3 i need to play more basic
Love the series. The main thing I’m getting out of this is how to keep it based in learning and gaining experience. My tendency to get angry really holds me back from getting better. You got hit with stuff that would have me turning the game off to go play something else.
I followed MainMan's beginner guide in addition to my previous knowledge: ruclips.net/video/pUnxkVuVn54/видео.html

Phi is 100% a closet Mishima main. One day he'll come out of it, haha! What a sick video and I loved the ending! MASKU!
The day he goes from MainlessKing to MainManPhi will be a glorious day
Clickbait is strong with this one.
its all he knows what to do lol
That deep MASKU in the end. Seems to be a physiological reaction of one's body when one lands a clean sidestep electric.
Thanks, Phidx. I wanted to learn how to get better with Mishimas and this is what pops up.
The way the Reina stood down at 13:47 was the highlight for me honestly, he was that confident in his read
Now all you need is a boundless hatred for Jin. Just like Kazuya himself.
I already have a boundless hatred for Jin's D2
Feeling blessed by this video as a Kazuya main, so much eye opening stuff! Loving this series so far

"Its a simple plan that requires precision." That precision part is where im currently dying at lol but being a Kaz main is worth it in the end.

-4 is steppable. -6 is where it starts to get tight
