For those curious about my mini map thoughts in MUCH greater detail, along with a full explanation of how its removal will reduce the skill gap, here you go! ruclips.net/video/OXP_EMHWE2U/видео.html&
You mentioned that you want to know where your team mates are. They have stated that you will see them without it. Most of the other RUclips's have already mentioned it.
That's limited to your extremely small field of view of 67 on console and require you to spin around to see what teammates are up to. On top of this, seeing teammates through walls is FAR less immersive or realistic than a mini map
@@TheXclusiveAce maybe that can go with an function where you can bring it up instead of having it there perminantly like a hollogram or something. At the end of the day mini maps are unrealistic as well. There is probably some middle ground they can find
Wow. I can’t believe how many of these comments like no Mini map. Saying it INCREASES the skill gap, saying it’s a crutch, saying noobs rely on it, saying it ruins realism but they’re fine with SEEING TEAMMATES THROUGH WALLS?! All of them must be from recommendations because there’s no way Ace could have so many stupid subscribers. Y’all should sub maybe you’ll become a good player from watching his videos and Y’all will like the mini map lmao
@@TJK1025 I'd prefer you couldn't see team mates either. I'd prefer it to feel real and gritty
Pray for good maps. Streaks and weapons can be tuned, game play mechanics may change. Bad base maps are forever.
Even if the maps are good, for the life of me I cannot understand why they went back to killstreaks and to the old perk system with only 3 perks to choose from. Why fix something that isnt broken? They should move forward, not backwards.
@@captainmacmillan1752 I like it simplify the CaC so you can add depth to the gun itself.
@@captainmacmillan1752 all the rest of the call of duties after mw2/3 were really bad games and are catered for sweaty try hards. This looks like a game for everyone not just try hards and I think if it plays anything like the old call of duties it will be a success because the old call of duty games wiped the games we've played recently (except modern warfare remastered)
@@captainmacmillan1752 also overpowered killstreaks are better than scorestreaks that take 8 kills for a UAV 😂
@@captainmacmillan1752 Cuz its better. Thats why

@@mariolovesmagicmushrooms3137 that already happens with mini maps
@@mariolovesmagicmushrooms3137 How, does the mini-map prevent people from corner camping it doesn't.
@@DrIBeast the night maps are gonna be filled with campers.
Coffee Fresh or confusion
DrIBeast no it doesn't but people are going to be camping more because they won't want to move because you can't see anything or even where your team mates are so you know what area is safe to move about in so it will make people stay in areas because they won't want to move
Attachments are meant to have an effect on the gun. I'm glad they went more realistic here. When it's just for aesthetics, then you go from tactical to tacticool
Realistically attaching things to a gun don’t hinder you at all in real life. For example a grip or muzzle break does not make your aim slower or make your gun sway more.
@@simonscheideler4627 have you ever handled a firearm? Just putting a laser sight or flashlight on your pistol will require training with those attachments on due to the weight change. Even a muzzle break adds weight to the tip of your barrel. Different scopes/sights can drastically change how you acquire your target. These items alter how the firearm is handled compared to having nothing on it. It's not like the movies where you just point, pull the trigger, and bullets go wherever you want them to. Even the slightest twist in your wrist can cause you to be off target... so adding oz's, lbs, or items that effect your sight picture definitely makes a difference
...reload
PanicReign I like shooting guns as a hobby. Muzzle breaks reduce recoil not much weight added. Scopes make aiming easier, again not much weight added. Grips make guns more comfortable to hold and they still don’t add much weight, that being said all these things combined could maybe make a gun weigh another pound.
ModernxProphet can you explain more about, what do mean by “after”
I disagree with your point against the attachments. I never feel myself choosing attachments based on aesthetics; always function.
same here
People who pick attachments for aesthetics only I'm sure are the same type of people who buy more expensive rims than the car itself that they put em' on. STUPID

Edit: Actually i think i disagree with almost all your "negatives" in this video. lol except the screen turning black and white when taking damage, wtf is that?!
Can’t speak for current COD but I do know attachments always had pros and cons they just showed in the bars. Like for a silencer it would show a decrease in power
@@emyhR Sure, maybe a couple of them would. But a suppressor is obvious. We finally get some customization, not just "put all the best attachments on and never modify your gun again"... Everyone can play the way they want, not just in meta.

Nah I just want the survival from
MW3, the face off modes because those were so amazing, and they should make it score streaks, change from your screen Turing black and white
For the mini-map thing, they said on Twitter that in the final build teammates will have outlines so you can see them throughout the map. I'm guessing kinda like Team Link in BO4. So you should still be able to have map awareness without the mini-map.
That would be amazing
That would help
Gonna be fun having to constantly turn 360 degrees to see where your teammates are
Combat awareness, learn it and apply it. If you can’t keep a general idea of where your teammates are without a mini map then you have become to reliant on it.
Tommy Mariano nah, I’ve been playing for 5+ years and am usually in the top ranking for LP. How are you supposed to know what your teammates are thinking?
I agree with *most* points, but strongly disagree about the attachments. Attachments *should* have tradeoffs, they’re meant to be a way to tailor a weapon more to your play style *not* just flat upgrades. This keeps the game balanced so newer players aren’t at a just straight disadvantage to someone who has spent a ton of time unlocking everything
Azrael-XIII great point. I’m tired of attachments making guns god and then having to nerf the gun instead of the op attachments. Case and point the Maddox. Double stock by sweats destroyed the gun. Especially in blackout (I know double stock isn’t in there)
I agree, this will hopefully make it so there isn’t just an X Y attachment you should always use on a gun due to the massive advantage it gives you over what the other attachments can do. Variety is the spice of life and something a lot of CODs lack after a few weeks of data mining and test playing.
@@HeyJoe. double stock isnt even on the maddox anyway my guy
Will Wallace ya I noticed that lol I meant they nerfed the Maddox into the ground but double stock attachment is op asf too like on saug. Good eye tho
i have to disagree attachments shouldn't have negative trade offs on you're weapon. They're there to enhance the weapon and just like he said there are cases where you'd rather just use the base gun than put attachments on it. This was a problem in battlefield 4 cause they had a similar system and people would just opt out of using certain attachments or even any attachments cause it made the gun worse. My point is i don't want to play a game where i have a worse weapon just because it looks a certain way or have to run the weapon a certain way just to make it good. This has happened in a lot of games and its honestly poor game design.

People dont play cod expecting it to be realistic they want an arcade shooter
yung bruh moment like I said, they need change so every game doesn’t feel like the same arcade shooter. These games were getting boring. Gameplay changes are welcome for me and plenty others
@@r3dlavigne arcade shooters are fucking trash.
I think when we say this is cods take in a realistic shooter is kinda BS. Cause to me the maps look like typical COD maps. And the gameplay looks the same outisde of bullet travel and recoil. Movement and TTK are the same.
sean walsh there’s two sprint modes, and it’s realistic ttk
Listening to your negatives is getting me more excited for the game, especially no mini maps and trade off's with attachments.
Robert Dudley yeah this RUclipsr does have pretty shitty opinions.
No minimap is fucking dumb and he explains why perfectly. The attachment thing is hit or miss
@El diablo da Costa only for people who don't know what they are or how to use them lmao
trade off's with attachments is brilliant, and i dont mind no mini-maps. Just hope it encourages ppl to use coms more...since this is probably asking too much from randoms since they normally just turn on their mics to trash talk or scream obscene sounds...I may just solo-queue less in this COD.
@@greybush919 People aren't going to be using coms in pubs regardless of how much they try to force it onto us with shit like this. Bring back the minimap, with red dots only appearing during UAV so people can read spawns without having to constantly turn around for that lame ass compass.
idk, feels like removing the minimap would increase the skill gap and encourage more team play. I understand your opinion, but I don’t agree with it. Also, as far as the gunsmith goes, if there were no downsides to the attachments, then we’d basically be back to having crutch perks in the game.
Learning to read and use the map properly (ie not just running at red dots) is a skill in and of itself. How could removing it possibly improve the skill gap?
@@Lelelelel709 If you have a minimap that means you'll be able to tell exactly where your enemies are and you won't need to be as careful to look around areas where you can tell nobody is at. This is lame. This removes the slow tactical "look out for enemies" feel that the game is going for. They will have outlines around your teammates and you can see the red dots at the top, you'll be able to predict spawns just fine.
Mini map creates a skill gap. Taking it away removes that skill gap
@@Lelelelel709 Of course I know the benefits, I don't want those benefits in the game. Just don't buy the game if you don't like it, simple as that.
MetalSucks mini map creates a handicap. Taking it away removes a handicap.
People are complaining about it because it makes it harder to read where the enemies are. News flash you shouldn’t know where the enemies are.
Idea for the minimap: Put the minimap with its features (map design, teammates and all of that) but keep the red dots in the compass.
I feel like everybody wins with that
thats actually a great idea

I hope that they can add some tracers at the night maps . The vieew would be amazing!
How is removing the mini map making it easier? Now you have an even higher skill gap in terms of actually studying and understanding the maps.
Xxrage yo EXACTLY he’s just a casual, looking at minimal takes you out of the game mentally, you don’t focus on the sounds or visuals as much, they reworked the ENTIRE sounds system lol
"No minimap lowers the skill gap" Proceeds to shoot his teammates and get overall dumpstered.
Bruh don't take games too seriously
Because the minimap tells you where enemies are, not just with red dots either but with team mate deaths and knowing where your team mates are so you can predict spawns. Removing that removes your ability to see the flow of the map, it removes map awareness, now all you can do is run around like a headless chicken until you get into a gun fight and get shot from behind because you don't have enough information. Only a truly shitty player would actually believe removing the minimap increases the skill gap, it's usually the kind of people who think they're good because they have a whopping 1.5 k/d
Because scrubs don't properly use the minimal to begin with: I see it all the time in older cods, using the minimap properly also involves knowing where your team is.
While I agree with your verdict on attachments having cons, I do not agree with your reasoning. You want a gun to *look* a certain way, but putting attachments onto your weapon is not meant to be cosmetic. I mean, ofc it's supposed to change the appearance of the weapon, but the main purpose is to alter the weapon's traits.
They're marketing the Gunsmith pretty heavily as a way to design the look of your gun the way you want
Then that's poor marketing. Weapon attachments in r/l have pros and cons so I kinda like that they are doing it in game
@@donniemcknighsva I agree
@@donniemcknighsva but call of duty was never designed to be completely realistic. And if what Ace said is true (about 60 attachments per gun) and every attachment has different stats, then I think that it will complicate the game too much

They literally said that they will have a way for you to see your team mates at all times but it was broken in this build, it will be there in the beta.

Coming from a rainbow6 background.. I love the lack of a minimap.
These two games are really not the same thing. Most cod players grew a second set of eyes on their head to keep watch on the minimap. This change is huge.
Actually now that you brought r6 into comparison, yeah im on boat with the no minimap change. Fuck those casuals
Amen. I thought the same exact thing.
bigjro010 learn the map
Legit I grew up playing COD and honestly I get the feeling of having a mini map it warns you about incoming enemies and where abouts your team is etc. but what I like about siege is how the team communication is much needed in a game like r6 as there is no mini map and being a very competitive player in siege I agree that getting rid of the mini map will make cod a new game as it will make people play smarter, more carefully and strategically as they will have to adapt to communicating with their team if they want to win
Infinity Ward confirmed that everybody will have Team Link by default so you can see your teammates through walls.
I hope I can turn that off.
The mini map is way cleaner lmao now you're just gonna have blue outlines all over your screen lmaoooo
@@ROADRUNNER2613 I think the best way to go is to have it button activated. Tap a button (X on keyboard or left DPad on controller for example) and have the outlines on for a second or two.
@@3chel0n13 I come from 4 years of Comp Siege and in that game without any mini map we did have team outlines however if a teammate lined up perfectly with the enemy that enemy could get an easy double while you wouldnt risk shooting because of the friendly fire in that game. That mindset even if its CoD will happen and more so in the Hardcore modes. Having the option to turn that off will be much better and without knowing the controller layouts it wont work for console perhaps for PC however since the game runs on a crossplay system similar to Fortnite it wouldnt be an equal playing field.

I didn’t even think about this aspect. No mini map is one thing, but only giving it to teams that can keep the momentum going is fucked up. That’s why having a general mini map at all times, like standard cod rules, seems to make more sense.

70xPreston ya I 100% agree no mini map rewards those players that learn maps and have good game sense. There could be a mode with a constant mini map on top of the core with no mini map but that would be a lot of modes. I think people will just have to learn not to rely on it and over time this change will be adopted into the community.

Try playing siege without using drones cameras or comms. Then rush around and see if it's fun. Then try it but playing campy and see which is better. After 3 kills without dying your team can use everything. There's your future MW experience for the average player
I'm actually fine with no mini map. It makes you actually have to remember where you're going. If you can still see enemies through walls, fine.
This is meant to be a more realistic game. Real soldiers don't get mini maps; heck they can't see players through walls either, but that's a compromise 😅
when you can see enemies trough walls you have wallhack on
If you want a realistic game, go play a mil sim. Or go join the army.
It would be cool if they kept the compass thing but then added a mini map permanently but when you get a uav thats the only time the red dots show on the mini map
Braxton Slack my thoughts exactly, I think that’s the best solution to balance the mini map as a mechanic.
This is genius honestly, but imo I really hate having the mini-map. It makes the game too easy to go hunt down targets. If the idea of this game is to be a realistic shooter, no mm is the ideal change because soldiers don't have one irl, so to 1:1 match the real world to the game, a compass is smarter (and cleaner tbh) than a mm
Damon Finegan thats what hardcore is for
@@dripuko1050 but you're missing the dev's point of wanting the entirety of the game to mimic reality. Every gamemodes, MP, Campaign and Spec Ops are meant to feel the exact same way. And if they hear the community whine and gripe about the mini-map, then there has to be a balance to it. Because people who have been asking for realistic have finally gotten it (such as myself) and I for one am wholly against mini-maps, which is why as of recent I stuck with Battlefield (mainly cause Activision sucks but I also don't like mini-maps after playing battlefield for about a year).
I understand hardcore has no mini-map, but also realize it also has different rulesets than core modes. And I personally am a fan of unifying all the modes by stripping the mini-map to a compass which showcases the dots. You'll still know which direction to go, you just won't know where specifically. As I mentioned before, it all ties into reality, cause all soldiers get are their ears and a compass. I appreciate that level of thought and detail going into an assembly line game like COD, cause it makes the drab blandess of getting the same game, different time period with the same/improved mechanics still feel unique and inspired. Something that these last few titles have failed to do. This game looks fantastic in ALPHA, and Idk why everyone is griping, its an early build. There's a whole month before the beta. And then a month to tweak and tune the game before launch. The dev's have worked their asses off to make this game as gorgeous and as thorough as possible. If realism means giving up the arcade-y feel that people want from COD, they shouldn't have asked for it in the first place.
So the same style as every other cod?
I actually like that there's no mini map. It's the reason I switched to HC. So many people use it as a crutch and just chase dots all game instead of learning the map and playing the objective.
There's no point of playing the objective now they revert back to kill streaks lol.
HC is full of campers and it's too slow, free for all is terrible in HC, it's bad enough in core but in HC everyone just sits in a corner.
You still need to learn the maps in core, it will just be a terrible experience for casual gamers because they won't know where they hell to go.
Great, you play hardcore because there is no mini map. Now that they remove it entirely hardcore people (which is a minority) speak up and say it's good. Do you even use your brain while writing this?

@@NotTheMaestro sure they will Objectives are usually highlight over the play area. Seen thru walls or underground even. I love the no mini map adds a extra sense of awareness
Yeah I actually have been killed by the map being in the way of a window also I keep staring at it way too much
"no mini map adds a extra sense of awareness
" that makes no sense...
The mini-map is one of your senses when playing a game. It REMOVES a sense of awareness. After a mini-map being in Call of Duty since... ever? It's what the VAST MAJORITY (98%~) of people rely on for knowing when spawns flip, where allies are located, where enemy positions are, etc.
I already canceled my pre-order due to no mini-map, and I'm only one of millions who are not going to be purchasing the game. Call of Duty sells well every year, but having no mini-map is going to be a turn off to a huge majority of the community.
Ace even mentioned in a different video that footsteps are incredibly hard to hear in this game. So no mini-map with no footstep noises, plus a Ghost perk that last forever... The game butchers situational awareness. This game is going to be a camp fest.
Killstreaks being added instead of Scorestreaks already mean you get no reward for playing the objective in modes like Domination so you're already fucking the game by turning objective modes into a messy TDM. I can't understand why Infinity Ward is making these changes. Just as Ace said: "it's a change for just having a change" no useful logic to it.
The awareness of not knowing anything about where your team is, where the enemies are or where the spawns are?
Yeah. No.
Only thing you see is red arrows on your compass only if the enemy uses no silencer and people with your uav if they don't use ghosts.
People gonna play way more defensive. This will be a camp fest like in Ghosts.
More camping tho

Most COD players only look at the minimap when they play, it gives them WAY too much info.
I use it to see where my team is and for spawn flips so I don’t get shot it the back. I think it’s useful even if that’s all you could use it for but that being said it’s not a deal breaker or anything just definitely different haha
Raven Alexander The fuck are you on about? His problem with the minimap is a valid reason. Every COD game excluding this one included a minimap and over time the majority of COD players have depended on the minimap for info. You can’t blame him for criticizing something that has essentially been a staple for COD games.
Super Spooky It true we are all used to it. But don’t cry when u meet people och abuse it and gets 54 2
@@superspooky9195 everybody has a different playstyle but there's so much more to a cod game that can help you spot teammates and know where tf you are, especially when the games come out and get more familiar w the maps, I just think it's ridiculous cause the minimap is literally such a small part of a big game like cod and ppl complaining about it when we've been wanting change for years is kinda stupid to me
To me pros and cons in attachments are good thing. More depht to customization and it should prevent situation where one attachment is must to perform better ie.rapid fire, high cal etc... Bf4 did it fine in my opinion.
I just hope that constant dying to streaks and operator equipment spamming will be gone...
Great video still, im quite hyped for this years cod
Aapo Satokangas as a solid game bo4 is good imo. What ruin it are the OP specialists. I shouldn’t have to run cold blooded just so the the dog doesn’t kill me
I honestly feel like this game might be a camper's paradise so far. The slow printout times, return of killstreaks, large maps, enemy footsteps being near inaudible when moving, and just the darkness of some of the maps overall is going to be a mess for anyone trying to rush or play the objective this year. Hopefully they at least increase the handling of SMGs so they're worth using as well as adding pointstreaks.
@@cas4392 and the batte pass that basically punishes you for not playing the game
Dude I made basically the same comment about attachments aha. Rapid fire stock and high cal kill gun balance in BO4 most because there's no drawback. In cod 4 you would use double tap and your recoil became much greater in bo4 you use rapid fire and your gun still doesn't budge making there no skill gap to the attachment just complete necessity to perform. I saw the socom mag or whatever for the m4 in this game increase damage but hurt fire rate because if not we would have BO4 high cal issues once again

I feel like the compass without minimap is ok. Just my opinion. It still has enemies as dots.

First Last Neither have you. Clearly you didn’t understand when Ace himself said that getting a team UAV will give you your radar. Unless you are completely trash at cod, getting 3 kills shouldn’t be super difficult. Your point makes even less sense, considering we’ll be able to see teammates THROUGH WALLS. You’d have to be blind to not notice that if teammates are here then enemies are somewhere else or flipped.
@@_Onward You must not have watched that many videos on this subject. Almost every RUclipsr i've seen who posted a modern warfare opinion video has stated that they hated or wanted the mini-map back. You do realize that if you want a mini-map you're forced to waste a kill streak on it ? I have never wasted a killstreak for a UAV in any CoD ever. i like to use the highest killstreaks possible. So do most of my friends, it's just annoying. Also, don't you think it will get annoying and it will clutter your field of vision seeing all those teammates through walls ?
Dimitri Sainis Of the youtubers that I’ve watch,(admittedly I don’t watch too many cod specific youtubers) most have been neutral and have been willing to try it out BEFORE complaining. Seeing how other games have handled map design without mini maps makes me think that Infinity Ward could pull this off really well if they take their time and make good maps. UAVs in my eyes, are the essential for long streaks, but after playing COD for as long as I have, my awareness depended less on the mini map and more on my positioning and map knowledge. Learning how spawns work will make the mini map useless because you know where to look and when to look. I may be in the minority that enjoys learning the maps, which is why I like the idea of having the mini map only if I need it. Seeing enemies through walls won’t work like Marksman, and instead will be visible for the range you can see in your mini map (I would assume). I see what you mean, but it’s just never how I’ve played, so even hearing Ace whine like this irritates me because this is the one time where my awareness would benefit me. Camping has been in EVERY COD, so I doubt that the mini map would be a factor. AW had UAVs ping people through walls and jet packs but people still found a way to camp, so it has little to do with the game and more to do with the playstyle.
Lmao did you really say that having no mini map lessens the skill gap? Jesus christ, glad im not subscribed.

wtf?
It's lowering the skill gap in public matches, trust me. Sure for competitive games or just games where everyone is communicating it will have the opposite effect. But playing public matches without a party, there is no way to have real awareness. This will only benefit the people that already have bad awareness and don't make good use of the minimap. I don't think you realise how much you are going to get shot in the back. There will be no way to reliably guage spawns, no way to predict where the enemies will be based on your teammate's position. Just everyone running around like headless chickens while many people just sit in corners and shit. Do you remember why they made ghost only work while moving in the first place? The very best change made in blops 4 was the healing and long ttk, it was a mechanic that benefitted the high skill players. Not only will this be reverted but it seems like every design choice is aiming to make this game the exact opposite.

I’m glad you don’t follow the majority and just jump on the hype train without giving the game legit criticisms. I think the lack of mini map in combination with the map designs that I’ve seen, and no scorestreaks, is going to heavily encourage defensive and campy gameplay. I’m already seeing lots of slow paced gameplay and scenarios where players are catching others off guard hiding in dark corners and odd nooks and crannies within the maps. I feel like they’re leaning to heavily on the past where those said maps worked in the past, but now as players have gotten better at shooters, more hiding spots encourages more camping and less movement. This was a noticeable issue on a lot of maps in WW2 and even COD4 remastered.
G C I agree, if we aren’t constructively critical the game will not have longevity even it is sick overall
This is what I've been saying. Everyone else thinks that "going back" to this slow playstyle will save cod but in reality itll dwindle all the new fans they've gotten over the years because it's going from a fun fast pace arcade shooter to a slightly faster version of battlefield
Campers have always been in COD and always will...we’ll just have to adapt. At least those campers probably won’t be getting many score streaks...hopefully
Really appreciate the honesty!
love that theres no minimap. but your point is valid about the red dot chasers and also snowballing seems like a HUGE advantage.
I think in terms of realism that it's better to not have a minimap. That way people are more focused on finding enemies and focusing on what's happening in front of them instead of staring at a mini map. Maybe add a paper map that your character can pull put of his pocket or something but if you wanna know where people are, add a compass and have someone get up high and provide overwatch and recon the way real military does
They wouldn't make any sense for an arcade fps game lol
That's taking "realism" to another level we should not ever approach... Especially for Call of Duty.
