@@ermagerd101 the corruption is something that makes it a little tougher. We have learned having a dash cam helps a lot and also practicing how stubborn one can get when pulled over. Healthcare is not as advanced as some countries that is true. The government hospitals are poorer and don’t always have all the resources we would consider basic. We always go to one specific hospital, Luz Y Vida, which is a nonprofit and always had a good experience. We have never needed to go for anything more serious than Dengue, infection and what I would consider minor injury. Overall, I would rather be needing to go see a doctor here than in Canada.

It's getting worse now of course since we are all leaving, including doctors and nurses. Do the cops get upset when they know you are filming them? 😄I would definitely be into that!👍
I haven’t ever tasted it made by a non- Mennonite, but at least you tried it. I like the way my husband makes it. My favorite is my dad’s. He always added hot Italians (in Canada-not available here) and it was so good 😋

I'm sorry you lost your father from cancer. My girlfriend lives in Asuncion and she has cancer because I know it's a death sentence in Paraguay I sent her to Ecuador for treatment where even some Americans go for cancer treatment. I wouldn't live in Paraguay for ten minutes after what I know about that country and the corruption and the poor medical care in that country. The sooner I get my girlfriend and her sons out of that country the better I will feel. Today I got a message from her, she was in Quito getting her cancer treatment and she had to rush home because a group of Paraguayans broke into her apartment, tied her oldest son up and stole everything in the place, even their clothes. Paraguay is nothing but a rat hole because the police don't do anything about these break ins. Now she has to fly back to Ecuador to resume her treatments. It's a lucky thing I bought her insurance that covers all of her cancer treatments and problems that may exist after the treatments are finished. Paraguay is not the place to set up a business of any kind and it's not a good place to live, I don't care how cheap living is in that country.

My experience is that they would not directly ask you for anything and just tell you that they will write you a ticket. This means you will have to go and spend time at the police station, pay for the ticket, maybe even have your vehicle impounded, etc. In other words, a pain you know where. So a lot of local drivers suggest themselves the bribe to the officer just to be let go, and over time it becomes a vicious circle. Having said all that, I have been stopped in "developed" countries and have paid hundreds of dollars for "speeding" when I know it really wasn't a big deal at all, maybe just a few miles over the speed limit, i.e., no different than the cars passing me by. In developed countries (I won't mention names), this ticketing thing becomes a money raising operation for the local police, undoubtedly. So, there are 2 sides to the coin,
There is not a set amount they will ask for. They say it’s a certain amount for writing a ticket or somewhat lower if you pay it right there right away.
I guess it’s starting to show I’ve spoken a lot more German in the past year to year and a half lol starting to mix up my words in English a little here and there as well in daily conversations.
