Instant buy, no more scammy ink cartridges, no more ink expulsion heads getting destroyed over time, no more exclusive paper necessary. Everyone needed this. And this is most definetely one of the top-tier products made in 2020. Grim year, bright community.
"Videos are also of a very poor quality." Funny, I remember a time not so long ago, when RUclips already existed, that those videos would have been impressive. 🤣
I kinda wanna gather receipts of some stores and then just take pictures of some of the manic buying that happens, or the trash that results from that. Would be kinda aesthetic and deep, heh

The receipts you get in shops usually fade, so I suppose the photos fade as well. It doesn't entirely put me off. Because the main fun you get with instant cameras is in the first 5 minutes!
This sounds like a really fun little camera! But I'm a bit worried about how well the photos will hold up to time. At least the prints on thermal papers I've used barely last a year or two, depending on their quality. Same goes for the paper recites I've gotten in stores. So it doesn't seem like the best camera to use to capture childhood memories since they won't last long. Plus, if it's low quality paper and you touch it on a hot summer day, you'll have a lovely finger shaped blob on your photo.
Thank you for a wonderful video and a super great idea. I think the idea of a inexpensive temporary print is super cool. Whoever said prints HAVE to last forever. Have it, enjoy it, then it fades. Make more. :)
Wow, so interesting! I use a Paperang P2 printer with same mechanism but it's just a printer, and work with a smartphone app. So usefull and full of function, strongly recommend!
Doesn't those prints tend to fade over time? I think even if you hide it from sunlight, the image would be gone within couple of years, but in all honesty... I absolutely love this idea.
My record is 14 years. The receipt was hidden in a pocket of a jacket I didn't use for 14 years. Aibecy Peripage sells special paper that should last 10 years (at least). If you want to see how well receipt paper can stand sunshine versus the Peripage paper than click on my channel. I have a little video on there showing the results.
i believe most will fade a reasonable amount after about 6 months based on comments on a project that involved placing a reciept printer in a polaroid shell on hackaday by mxtela (i think)
My camera won’t turn on is there a way to troubleshoot it’s been charging for 3 hrs There’s no battery compartment It was so expensive 😩 for the 3 times I used it
Despite it's shortcomings, this is the absolute coolest kids camera I've ever seen. And at $99 it's not as expensive as I thought it would be. When christmas rolls around I'll prob get this for my sister, she would LOVE this. Plus I've only got to buy one thing at CVS to get a 30 pack of "film".
I have a thermal printer from Phomemo and they have thermal paper that is advertised to last 20 years. A little pricier but you can tell a difference from the cheaper stuff. Did my research and found a guy who had thermal prints in a box for the last 10 yrs with no visible change to them
I have a question. It looks you can print any photo from the gallery, isnt't it? So can you put photos taken with another digital camera in the sdcard and print them on this camera??
you can get different thermal papaers which last more then a year, even sticker or transpaert papaers as well, and some of them have 5-20 years lasting.
A friend build a similar camera with a raspberry pi. I think the idea is great, the camera is cheap and as you said the paper is also cheap. A fun experience, but you better protect your pints or scan them, because over time they will fade. I can see people buying this for a wedding book for example...
You can recover faded images by exposing them to heat or to acetone vapor. Then, the 'unexposed' parts will turn black and you are left with a negative, that could be scanned for example.
Hi! I also bought a similar camera right after watching your video. However my photo print out are around 4:3 aspect ratio, but your photos look like 3:2 or even longer in aspect ratio, but I don't see any related setting. Does your camera has this setting available?

the big problem is that after a while the image will dissapear. Look at some reciept from let's say 4 months ago and you will hardly see something. It is a fun camera but if it doesn't also have a sd card is a waste of money and time even for a kid. Imagine a kid happy that he made a picture to the little kitty and after a year he check it and see nothing... but.. interesting idee.
This seems to be made for hacking. If you could get a Rasberry Pi to talk to a thermal printer then you could use the new Pi camera though it is not that much better. More interesting would be connecting a "real" camera via hdmi or usb to output to the thermal printer.

There are thermal paper printers like the paperang p2 which should give you more flexibility then this?
Can you play games on them? bc I want it for camp but no games or electronics allowed
This would be neat for relationship milestones. Like if you went to a restaurant for your first date, you could print a pic of you two on the receipt

Yes they can fade pretty fast depending on the quality of the paper, and if that's not bad enough don't ever spill sanitizer or oil onto it.
