This was definately a dream. I normally have dreams when I’m almost awake about me waking up and grabbing my phone under my pillow then checking it and seeing no notifications. Then waking up hours later just to realize the dream was a dream.
He probably just slept and dreamed that he was watching TV, I sometimes wake up super tired in the morning, fall asleep and actually imagined myself getting up and getting ready. It feels so real.
Happened to me before, but here's a fun fact. This is lucid dreaming, you fall asleep thinking about what your going to do, and you control it in the dream, but except for controlling you just are doing what is normal. But in reality you are asleep :)
Wait untill you wake up after the Channel your watching g hits its repeat stage and plays everything again in the same order then you wake up during the same episode of whatever you were watching earlier, mind fuck right there 🤯
Excuse the length. I believe that a logical explanation is that he suffered cranial trauma. When I was aged between 10 and 12 I was playing Australian Football when I collided with an individual whilst I was running max speed, I was consequently knocked unconscious. Following this, I dreamed particular events in which I believed to be reality e.g. I watched a movie (I can no longer remember what about). Yet in actual reality, I had walked my younger brother home from school, eaten and then accompanied my parents to a hardware store. I awoke from what I believed was reality (watching a movie) standing within a hardware store, utterly clueless as to how I had gotten there (feeling was akin to that of waking from a dream). I am only aware of these events as I was told by witnesses. If the cranial trauma I or another individual suffered occurred in the absence of witnesses, it would result in said person believing their 'dreamed' reality is in fact reality. Therefore, oppossing the reality of others, which leads to the perception that the specified individual did not exist for a given period.

YES! A few years ago when my alarm went off as usual an hour before I was scheduled, I began getting ready for work. It literally took 2 minutes to walk to my job. I had a relaxed routine established so I wasn't rushed. I always streamed two episodes of M*A*S*H while getting ready (less than an hour), and would leave when the second episode was over. At 3:55 p.m. I began my two minute walk to work for my scheduled 4:00 p.m. shift start. Somehow, inexplicably, I didn't arrive at the bar until 4:58 p.m. Nothing was different for me. My afternoon was completely normal. Nothing odd or out of the ordinary happened to me. But my boss and his wife said they were getting worried that I was an hour late and hadn't called, and that the owner was going to call me at 5:00 p.m. is I wasn't there by then. But I was, and am floored and bumfuzzled that on a one block walk an entire hour went missing. WHERE THE HELL WAS I FOR THAT HOUR!?

I was 2 hrs late for an appointment. Having to walk , catch bus, cross at bridge. I checked my watch, saw a bank sign time and temperature, stopped at a store, asked the bus driver for time. I arrive at the place 3 hours late till I looked at the wall clock. I was 3 hours early. Never figured how it happened. A friend was with me and they could not figure it out either.

I had a strange experience at my friend's house where I blinked into morning. I know I fell asleep, but I swear it felt like I time-traveled by blinking
It also happened to me when I was only 8. So basically I woke up at 12:00 midnight And my dad was not in our bed cause he went somewhere but then when I blinked it was like 2:00 in the morning when I looked at the clock then boom my dad was there meaning I time traveled 2 hours into the future by by literally blinking
I had this happen to me one day but it wasn't as long as him. We went to an old abandoned colonial house to explore when I was about 11 yo and we went down to the dirt floor cellar when I got to the bottom after my sister and three of her friends I was the only one there, my little sister, her friend and my brother were brining up the rear. I wondered around in there by myself yelling for them and freaking out I walking out the door that led outside. No one was there, when I went back in, everyone was standing there and asked me where I had been. They never heard me yelling and we ended the exploring after that.

I was confused so I checked the time and it was around 7:30pm. Idk what happened but it’s creepy to think about. This was very vivid to. It was like a blink that lasted 3-4 seconds and it was like I teleported.
The most time I've ever lost was 15 minutes, and I was only 5, so I don't put much stock into it. We were released for recess and the instant I start running out, I'm being called back in. The teacher was frustrated, saying recess was over and that she'd been calling and calling and calling me to come back. I'm sure I just had an episode or something.

Back in the early 80s I was heading home from my aunt’s house, a 20 minute drive with most on the freeway. I only remember getting in my car , maybe a second of changing a lane, and then pulling into my apartment parking lot. That’s it. To this day it’s been one of the top creepiest moments of my life. And btw, I was completely sober as I didn’t drink.

Ahhh, this is a trick. At the beginning, he says, the teen gets up to an empty house and heads downstairs to watch stuff. So if the house is empty, how did the mum see him come downstairs to head to the basement? He fell asleep in the wrong house maybe or he walked down into the wrong basement? OR the person who went to the basement that the mum saw, was someone else. I mean, who doesn't say morning or something to their child when they get up OR ask them 'Whatcha doing?' Maybe daylight saving messed him and his mum up? OR maybe he was at his friends place the whole time and his mum thought she saw him go to the basement? Maybe there is a secret escape hatch in the basement?
He might have fallen asleep. I was watching a movie once with everyone on a bean bag chair, I was super tired and I slowly drifted to sleep, I DREAMED that I watched the rest of the movie, and when I woke up and it was the middle of the night I was confused, and I had no idea what was going on
This has happened to me when I was younger. Happened once or twice. Very very disorienting specially when in your dream the room is lit up from the TV and when you wake up it's so dark your eyes are adjusting as your mind is racing trying to figure out what happened. Also I hated once I figured out what happened trying to thinkso hard about how the hell I fell asleep in the first place lol.
He did go downstairs but snuck out the basement window and probably turned phone on silent messed around with his friends gf then snuck back in."I dont know what happened mom, this is weird" lol
I disappeared from a classroom like that. I didn't know til the next day when everyone in class, including the teacher asked me where I was the other day.
I have experienced this, not personally. The thing everyone in the comments is missing: if you’re a mom and your kid doesn’t turn up, you look everywhere. Including their bed, where they had gone (the basement), with their friends, in their normal hangout places, etc. This happened to a friend of mine when we were young, we were all out searching for her until she walked out of her upstairs bathroom confused why everyone was upset, she’d only been in to wee for a few minutes after waking up that morning. I looked there myself.
I thought he was going to say, "what's worse is, his mom asked when did his friend leave?" And it turned out to be some stranger that was hanging in their house.
There are a number of events that can interfere with the protein synthesis responsible for memory formation. Seizure, for example, can sometimes do this.
I've watched this three times and still am confused on the time line. His mother sees him go downstairs at 11. Doesn't see him till after 7 that night. You said she went down 30 minutes later to check on him. That would make it 1130 her time. How did it become 745? Am i missing something?
So what happened was he went into the basement at 11 am, and for him, thirty minutes passed. But his mom and friend couldn't find him until 8 hours later at 7 pm.
I had just started working night shift and on my day off visited family for some festivities. They had such a comfortable basement , huge sofa that was more comfortable then a bed ,a sweet huggable dog who lied down with me and huge TV. I lied down there on Wednesday night. When I woke up they invited to movies so I went bc Thursday was my day off . The next day went to work & coworkers asked me how was feeling I said great...my coworker laughed & said you didn't show up to work . Do you even know what day it is . I said sure it's Friday. He said nope it Saturday. Apparently I went to bed on Wednesday & slept all through Thursday. When I woke up it was Friday but I thought it was Thursday so went to movies bc thought my day off but it was actually Friday. I lost an entire day sleeping. Since I was in the basement no one came to get me or to check on me bc they all was busy with festivities upstairs. It's crazy how people when busy can over look that your even alive for an entire day ...I am sure if they had glanced down on the sofa they couldn't even tell I was there bc it was winter and I was cuddling under all those blankets.....sometimes explanation of time loss simpler that meets the eye
I teach at an all-ages English school, and heard a similar story from two different people. One said that one day in middle school, he was playing with friends after school and suddenly the next moment he's sitting at home eating a bowl of cereal, about 3 hours later. He asked his mom what happened and she was confused. She just said he came home like normal, talked about his day, then said he was getting himself a snack. He never figured out why that time just disappeared from his memory like that. Real weird.
There is an unusual condition where you just black out, but act normal. There are also types of sleep walking that get close to what you’re describing. The person acts on autopilot, responding how they would normally act, but are still asleep the entire time.

"Nah bro, I'm lagging"
I actually know of 1 (technically 2 in 1) case of this, and the person who told me rarely brought it up because she was understandably uncomfortable with people thinking she was insane. Only after one day at work with just us there I was being myself probably talking about something paranormal or God related etc and her eyes lit up and she said "you wanna hear a crazy story?..."
She claimed she was walking back from a friend's house in a more rural area, saw a UFO and was in awe but mostly excited. It lasted maybe 10 seconds and she bolts back home to find her parents in the living room crying and shocked asking her where the f*xk she's been they called the cops, her friend, etc. She says what happened but her dad quickly cut her off and sent her to her room so now she's bawling. Her dad later comes in and tells her he had the same thing happen some decades back but he was in a car. He sees this thing in the sky, he's frozen in awe for what couldn't have been more than a few seconds, then drives home only to see everyone gathered there trying to strategize/figure out wtf happened to him, hours later.
I've experienced a few preternatural phenomena so while I'm a natural skeptic, I'm 100% certain that unexplainable things happen and that alone has led to people opening up to me randomly and I can always tell when a person is genuine because they're relieved to tell someone. You can tell when someone has a dumb story they made up for attention, versus someone being afraid to bring it up because they don't want to be known and the insane person in town.

I looked there myself.
It sounds like he just went into the basement and fell asleep again.

The next day went to work & coworkers asked me how was feeling I said great...my coworker laughed & said you didn't show up to work . Do you even know what day it is . I said sure it's Friday.
